Complete Eagles Offseason

Our Philadelphia Eagles have come up clutch for the first time in a long time. Yes. A long time. The Bucs game doesn't count because we all wanted to lose anyways. Because of that win, Mike Vick playing like a three year old blind girl with no fingers, and our secondary that couldn't cover a barbecue if their life depended on it...we now have the 4th pick in the NFL draft.

First things first, it's becoming quite clear that Kelly is a fan of the 3-4 which is going to lead to the hiring of Georgia defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham. The Georgia Dogs site provides us with a little tid bit on him: "Todd Grantham was named defensive coordinator at Georgia in January, 2009, after serving an 11-year NFL career most recently as the Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach. His resume includes nine years previous college experience. He assumed the title of Associate Head Coach in 2012." Grantham is a 3-4 guy and a really passionate coach. You guys may remember him for telling our former punter, Chas Henry, to choke before booting a beautiful field goal for Florida.

I'd say it's also safe to assume that Kelly will be bringing someone from Oregon to be his offensive coordinator. I could be wrong though. Either way, it's Kelly's offense so who really gives a sheet.

Vick's contract sucks. We all know that. I think we try and restructure it and then deal him. He just isn't worth it for us. Foles is a better player in every system. I do however, think that Foles needs competition. Pete Carroll is all about competition and it seems to be working just fine for him and the Seahawks.

I think the Eagles offer a 5th rounder to the 49ers for Alex Smith and we have ourselves a nice little competition. Smith has shown the ability to run and also throw some pretty passes. Smith ran the zone read a bit at Utah and while I personally haven't seen him do it in San Fran, I do like the idea of him as our starting quarterback. Remember though, no matter who our quarterback is, Chip Kelly is going to make it work.

As far as other signings go, I think we will certainly sign one "big time" safety. And by "big time" I mean not really big time but much better than the garbage we've been seeing. Jairus Byrd, William Moore, and Louis Delmas are all possibilities.

In the draft this is what I hope happens.,..

With the 4th pick in the NFL Draft. The Philadelphia Eagles select... Star Lotulelei, DT from Utah.

Star will be a star from the getgo. A dominant big man can take teams places. With the switch to the 3-4, the addition of a big boy is imminent. Lotulelei is a stud and the Eagles will be glad to bring him on board and have him do work at NT.

With the 35th pick in the NFL Draft. The Philadelphia Eagles select... Jordan Poyer, CB from Oregon State.

Poyer finished in second in the nation is picks this past season. He was a semifinalist for both the Bednarik and Thorpe Awards and has been a starter at Oregon State for three straight years. The kid is fast and physical and has well trained eyes. I'd love to see this guy in green and I'm sure Kelly will be glad to have him on his side after playing him the past three years.

With the 67th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select... Phillip Thomas FS from Fresno State

We didn't take Michael Griffin a few years back...now we got him. Phillip Thomas is drawing numerous comparisons to Griffin and should be a fine safety in the league for years to come.

With the 98th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select... Matt Scott QB from Arizona

This kid has run the zone read with Rich Rodriguez at Arizona. He is another guy that the Eagles can take a flyer on and have a nice competition with him, Foles, and Alex Smith.

The 129th pick is traded to the 49ers for Alex Smith.

With the 162nd pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select...Kevin Reddick ILB UNC

UNC is becoming the new LinebackerU as of late. Reddick had an offseason but he is a four year starter and a 2 year captain. He is definitely a guy worth bringing in with the 162nd pick.

With the 194th pick, the Philadelphia Eagles select... Quinn Sharp P from Oklahoma State.

Sharp is a solid punter and will battle for the starting spot next year for our Birds.

Dude's a stud at everything

This would leave us with...

QB: Foles, Smith, and Scott in a three horse race. I honestly don't have the slightest clue as to who I think would win this battle. But whoever does, certainly earned it because all three can play...and all three can bring something to Kelly's offense.

RB: No doubt in my mind..Kelly utilizes both of our studs, McCoy and Brown to their fullest potentials.

WR: Maclin finally gets to be the stud he's always had the potential of being. He isn't a possession guy, he's an out in the open guy. Maclin and DeSean will spread the field like it's nobodies business.

TE: Celek gets another shot. Harbor steps up and competes again. Does he finally take over?

LT: Peters!!

LG: Mathis!!

C: Kelce stays because he fits Kelly's scheme.

RG: Herremans

RT: Kelly or Free Agent

Ends: starting we have Cox and Cole. Cole is a bit undersized but I think he can pull it off.

NT: Our boy, Star takes over and does his thang.

OLB: Graham and Kendricks get the outside spots. I like it a lot. Graham plays a Terrell Suggs type role and thrives.

ILB: Ryans and Reddick. Reddick beats out Matthews for that inside spot alongside Ryans.

CB: DRC stays and starts. Poyer starts across from him.

FS: William Moore

SS: Phillip Thomas

Bada Bing BAda Boom! We have a squad again!
