An already short handed Browns defense may have suffered another blow this week with the report that starting corner Joe Haden has been suspended for Sunday's opener. Haden tested positive for Adderall, which is a banned substance under league rules.
Haden has appealed the suspension and could have the ban lifted if he can "prove he had an exemption from the league to take the drug," according to the Chronicle-Telegram. Haden is still awaiting the NFL's decision, which you would assume could come down today.
If he can't go, the Browns will start our old pal Dimitri Patterson alongside Sheldon Brown, which will certainly bring up a mix of good and bad memories for Eagles fans. Good memories of Brown and bad memories of Patterson. To be fair, Patterson actually played well last year and got a 3 year, $16 million extension with $6 mil guaranteed as a result. It remains to be seen whether that was a good investment by the Browns, typically giving money to a 29 year old who had one good season isn't a great idea... but who knows?
Either way, Dimitri Patterson vs DeSean Jackson is a far worse matchup for the Browns than Joe Haden vs DeSean.
