Tommy Lawlor Iggles Blitz notes:
Ravens: Reynolds looked fine to me. He’s no Kelce in terms of athleticism, but Reynolds is bigger and stronger. The offense scored 7 points with Kelce on the field, 17 points with Reynolds out there. To be fair, Reynolds was only on the field for 2 plays on his first TD drive. (point totals fixed). Reynolds can’t do the things Kelce can. Jason is able to do things most Centers have no shot to do. He’s exceptionally quick, fast, and agile. That means the offense will have to adjust with Reynolds in there. Reynolds also lacks experience. The one upgrade is that he can get more push or anchor better due to his size/strength.
Jets: Dallas Reynolds outplayed Steve Vallos. Dallas started at C and then played RG. Good showing. I think he’ll be the top interior backup OL
Cleveland: Played RG. Best game of the preseason. Got beat early on by quick DT with good pass rush move. That got me worried, but Dallas settled down and played well. He’s still not ideal on the 2nd level, but had a couple of good blocks on the move. Overall did a good job in pass pro. Used his hands well. Locked on and anchored well. Very much helped his cause.
Patriots: Played RG. Solid game, but hasn’t stood out. Hasn’t earned a roster spot.
Steelers: Played C. Failed to get push on run play. NT held his ground and Reynolds eventually ended up on the ground after another defender ran into him. Tried to block NT on run, but slid off him (got shed) and fell to the ground. Led to TFL. Got driven backward on pass play. Noticeable, not just a step. Played some LG in the 3rd. Disappointing night. Was hoping he’d look impressive.
So what do I make of this? I think he is showing improvement, and with help he can manage. He is heaviear and stronger than Kelce but lack the burst and athletecism in which Mccoy succeeded with last year. Just in case, would like a veteran to come in (not sure about Jam Jack yet) or steve vallos (experience). Vandervelde was not good at center. I think we should be fine with Reynolds and hopefully Kelce can make his way back from the injury in time for the playoffs. Another player to consider is Brett Romberg who weighs 295 lbs and is 6'2. He has some experience and can be servicable. Another one is Scott Mruczkowski – SD who played 7 years for the chargers.
I would still stick with Reynolds due to his experience on PS and with Mudd. I hope our season does not go down the tube cause of the O LIne. IN MUDD I TRUST
