He has been nothing short of brilliant and spectacular in training in a year where the Eagles have seemingly one last chance to prove all the talent they gathered over the recent season was well worth it and to reach that coveted Super Bowl in hopes of keeping the "dynasty" talk valid. No man should be feeling the heat as much as the man we so callously refer to as DRC to his own chagrin. In a contract year, and back to his regular and comfortable position, Rodgers-Cromartie has to either put up or get out of midnight green. His potential is through the roof and with the physical attributes, height, makeup speed that can rival an equestrian, his knowledge of the game can only improve with Asomugha on the opposite side. He has all the tools to be great. He at one point showed flashes of greatness. And still to this day I have a case of the giggles for the fact that not only did we get a 2nd round pick for a player who isn't worth his weight in mudpies, but we can a ballhawking, playmaking, Pro Bowl appearing CB, who can be one half of the greatest CB tandem we've seen in recent years. Potential seems to be the key word here, because as well all know, DRC's work ethic has come into question as well as his tackling ability. I've even heard someone refer to him as "A poor man's Asante" (in my opinion DRC has the potential to be far superior than Samuel ever was and is) So let's throw out speculation, throw out the trash talk, and the what if talks, let's sit back and watch this kid develop because I feel like this kid is going to be as special as a player as we've seen in a long time. He's long, he's tall, he's fast. And he seems to have a good head on his shoulders coming into camp this year. And yes i know, training camp means diddly squat as far playing well goes, but let this be the mirror held up to how I expect Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to perform come the regular season. I have no numerical predictions of stats he's going to put up just that his play will be awe-inspiring this season, and I can only hope with the green blood that I most definitely bleed that I am right.
