Matt Williamson of ESPN (Insider) recently ranked who he saw as the top 10 RBs in the year 2015. In his estimation, the best back in the NFL three seasons from now will be Browns' rookie Trent Richardson. However, at #2 he's got the Eagles own LeSean McCoy.
McCoy will turn only 24 years old in July, and the Eagles recently rewarded him handsomely by extending his contract. They apparently feel that McCoy is well-equipped to be a star back for some time going forward -- and I couldn't agree more. He took a massive step forward last year and is among the most dangerous all-around players in the NFL.
The rest of his list is, 3. Ryan Mathews, San Diego Chargers, 4. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders, 5. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers, 6. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings, 7. Arian Foster, Houston Texans, 8. Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs, 9. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens, 10. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The one name that makes little sense to me is Jonathon Stewart. He's already 25, so he'll be 28 in 2015 and he's still never been particularly special. I just don't quite see how in three years he's a top 5 back in the league.
