Eagles Overall:
Average points differential in wins: +17.4
Average points differential in losses: -8.8
(Record: 8-8)
With Vick:
Average points differential in wins: +18.7
Average points differential in losses: -5.8
(Record: 7-6)
[Note: when Vick played the entire game, uninjured, the Eagles were 7-4]
With Young (without Vick):
Average points differential in wins: +7.0
Average points differential in losses: -17.5
(Record: 1-2)
Vick Sacked:
In wins: 17
In losses: 6
[Note: the increase in times sacked in WINS is interesting. Primarily, I think it's due to the fact that Vick ran a lot less (and so was in the pocket more) during wins. But it MIGHT also point to the real nature of the OL - for example, in wins it is possible Vick was taking sacks instead of flinging the ball into traffic, we'd have to look at tape, though.]
Vick’s Last 3 Games:
Rating: 106.1
TD: 6
INT: 2 (and the Jets INT was a junk INT with time expiring into half time, take that away he is over 110 QBR.)
Vick’s Rushing:
Attempts per game: 5.8
Attempts per game in first 9 games: 7.2 (record: 3-6)
ATT per game in last 4 games: 2.75 (record: 4-0)
[Note: when Vick stays in the pocket - i.e., doesn't scramble down field - it looks like he stays healthy and is much more effective as a passer and a winner. But of course, this isn't really news to us.]
McCoy Attempts:
Avg. attempts in wins: 22
Avg. attempts in losses: 14.9
[Note: the more defenses worry about McCoy getting the ball, the easier it is for Vick to throw down field.]
Note that may be of little importance:
The three games Vick missed due to injury – against NY, NE, and SEA – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Jeremy Maclin also missed due to injury.
I offer these up for consideration, not as an attempt to say something substantive.
