The Eagles have the most cap space in the NFL following the draft, they've got a 23 year old running back that is among the top 3-5 players at his position and is heading into the final year of his rookie deal. Those ingredients should add up to an extension for LeSean McCoy at some point this offseason.
Speaking to 97.5 the Fanatic today, Andy Reid said the team is working toward a deal with McCoy and he thinks good things will happen.
"DeSean's was no different than LeSean's will be... It'll all work out. He knows we appreciate him and we are working through those negotiations and I think good things will happen.
I'm assuming when he said it will be "no different" than DeSean's deal, he's referring to the end part where it all worked out? Later, when asked about the possibility of a holdout, Andy said he's been keeping in touch with LeSean and doesn't think things are going that way.
"Well we've had him up here the whole time, so he's been here working out. He and I have talked. I can't share that with everybody, but I will tell you it is heading in the right direction. That's all I can tell you."
Funny enough, the fact that its the Eagles on one side of the table and Drew Rosenhaus on the other actually bodes quite well for a deal to get done. Ever since the "unpleasantness" of the TO days, the Eagles and Rosenhaus have actually had a quite a fruitful relationship.
