I recently represented You guys on the panthers blog(catscratchreader) heres who I drafted. Please comment and tell me what you think,I am by no means an expert, epecially on your team.
p(. Indented paragraph1.9—-Fletcher Cox-DT-Ms. St.—-Traded the number 15 overall pick, along with pick pick 51, and 114. I got pick 9 and 143 in return. I am aware that a lot was given up to obtain his skills, the eagles are desperate for quality defenders though, and the best 3 technique in the draft should improve both their weak run defense and as a bonus improve the pass rush. I feel strongly that this could potentially be the most realistic trade in the draft. From what I ave read on bleeding green nation, all signs point to Reid and co being smitten with the this young man.
p(. Indented paragraph2.46—-Lavonte David-OLB-Nebraska—-I feel like this was a great pick, I wasn’t too confident he would still be there with so many other lb desperate teams in front of me. He instantly provides an upgrade for the eagles abysmal linebacking corps. Considering where he was taken he might be my best value pick. Reid doesn’t like drafting linebackers early normally, but this will change assuming he wants to keep his job after this season.
p(. Indented paragraph3. 66—-George Iloka-S-Boise State—-A raw talent but nonethless has all the physical skills to become a starting safety. The young man is monsterous with good speed for his size. In retrospect I probably shoulve addressed the safetey position earlier, but I still defend my pick. He at the very least should develop into a quality spur.
p(. Indented paragraph4. 97—-Danny Trevathan-LB-Kentucky—-Porobably took him a little early, but I strongly feel that he could be the most underrated backer in this years draft. I also gave up a fair amount of mid-late mid round picks to indy to obtain his services. Before you riducule me for selecting another undersized backer, Trevathan has a true linebacking frame and is just slightly lean, if he adds 10-15 lbs in muscle he could be a very good Sam in their defensive scheme.
p(.Indented paragraph6.200—-Joe Long-T-Wayne State—-Full disclosure, this was a shot in the dark. I didnt scout tackle prospects this low because I assumed I would pick one up earlier. If nothing else he at least has great bloodlines being the younger brother of phenom Jake Long.
p(. Indented paragraphThats my draft, I accidentally gave one too many picks to the Colts in the trade to move up in the 4th. I had planned on taking a QB in the later rounds to develop. I feel like that is the only true flaw with this draft, there could always be solid udfa though… Also it should be noted I traded Samuel to Baltimore for pick for a late 3rd, which I used as ammo for trade ups.
