Luke and Dont’a are great players but the Eagles will not draft either prospect in the 2012 NFL draft. We need to stop living in a fairy tale land. In the past we always have our eyes set on a prospect but it never happens, example (Earl Thomas). Luke is a top 15 pick and has earned that high of a grade. Unfortunately the Eagles are not going to use that high of a pick on him or any LB in the draft as long as AR is the coach. Dont’a is a monster and looks to be drafted in the late first round early second by either the Steelers or Ravens who have to replace (James F. and eventually Ray Ray). Dont’a dominated in a 3-4 in college and is a perfect fit for either team
If eagles fans really want to get serious about potential LB position if they trade down in the first round look no further than Zack brown. 6’2 240 and ran in the 4.44 40 and might run faster at his pro day. I don’t think he is better than Luke or Dont’a but what he is able to do in coverage, is nothing short of exceptional for a LB prospect. The NFL is a passing league and the first thing the Eagles want their players to do is cover first tackle second. The Eagles philosophy on defense is speed and coverage ability, not shedding blocks. I wish they had drafted a good young LB like Sean Lee, Navarro Bowman, Jon Beason, or Shawn Witherspoon, but it never happen. However we have to look toward the future.
Nigel Bradham from FSU good size and ran a 4.54 40 which is pretty good at the linebacker position. Does make mistakes when reading and reacting, but is a very athletic LB would look to be taken in the mid rounds.
Sean Spence from The U. Was a 4 year player/starter with pretty good speed. Lacks ideal size at 5’11 229 pounds but is a great LB in space and runs well in coverage.
Some other notable names Lavonte David,Ronnell Lewis, Bruce Irvin, and Mychal Kendricks
I know this is a deep draft with great young prospect who do you think would be a great addition to the Eagles roster that is not a fairy tale pick?
