Trying to make this a weekly thing in the fanpost section. Just sharing some thoughts and opinions on the week that was in the NFL Off-season. Lots to talk about this past week so let's get to it.
The Saints got what they deserved. People can says things like "It's part of the game" or "The punishments were over the top" but Roger Goddell did the right thing. Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Greg Williams allowed this to go on and lied about it. The paid people to injure others. I thought this only went on in the mafia. The NFL is all about player safety right now so running a program like this and paying players beyond their contracts will get you in a world of trouble. A year's suspension for Williams and Payton sounds about right to me. Tim Tebow is one of the most likeable players in the NFL. He is a great role model and has an incredlby strong work ethic. The problem is that his fans have really made life difficult for him. It's getting harder and harder to root for him based on his fans. I think the Jets made a good move in acquiring Tebow if it was more for the Wildcat then to challenge Mark Sanchez for hte starting job. Maybe the Jets just made the move to take the attention off of Sanchez. Either way this move will either save Rexy and Tannenbaum or cost them their jobs. The Matt Forte situation is really puzzling to me. The guy was 75% of the Bears offense and they are treating him worse then the Broncos treated Tebow. They at least gave Tebow a choice of which team he wanted to be traded to. The Bears franchised Forte but he has yet to sign the tag offer. He deserves a long-term deal. If they don't give him one, I think the Bucs and Browns would love to acquire his services. Forte would thrive in the Browns west coast offense while the Bucs head coach, Greg Schiano, had a similar player at Rutgers in Ray Rice.
