I wanted to take a moment and look at the Eagles problem at Special Teams for a second and get some more input from you guys. I think Phi bother trying to sign a WR like Eddie Royal or Ginn Jr like I've read a few of you wanted. We have one of the most dynamic and exciting return specialists in the league on our team already in the freshly paid Desean Jackson.
Problem with Desean is Reid and co. don't want to loose their number 1 receiver to the possibility of injuries during a KR or PR. I see this problem also in route running (across middle) but that's a different topic for a different day. He enjoys returning kicks and is very good at it so I say we let him do it. Why not focus on getting a true number 1 receiver in the draft?
This draft is loaded with tall wide outs with talent that can become a true number 1 on most teams. Michael Floyd is my favorite (yes, even over Blackmon, don't ask why, i still wonder myself) If he falls to number 15 which is turning into a real possibility with free-agency going the way it is, why not snatch him up and turn Desean into a number 2? Floyd will fill the Red Zone problem as well with his size and agility, and Andy wont be so cautious with D-Jax returning anymore.
Floyd isn't the only receiver I like in the draft as a possible number 1, he's the only one I'd consider at 15 though. I see huge possibilities at Randle (LSU), Jeffery (SC), or even Wright (Baylor), falling to us in the second round. I don't really see Wright falling that far, but his combine may of hurt his stock that badly to a few teams.
Even if you guys think I'm retarded for this, considering we do have other more pressing needs like LB, SS, and depth across the lines, we can still snatch up competition in later rounds, like a backup RB. Isiah Pead would be a good number 2 RB and a return specialist.
Just curious how others see my opinion on this?
