Adam Caplan revealed today that the Eagles worked out veteran LB Ben Leber earlier this week. He's spent 10 seasons in the NFL most recently with the Vikings and Rams. He was released by St Louis late last season.
Having played on the strong side for his whole career, Leber, 33, would add some experience to a very young Eagles LB corps. He's not a long term solution or probably even a full time solution, but when Akeem Jordan is the most senior member of the LB corps, there could certainly be value in having a guy that's been through the wars before.
Caplan also says that the Eagles tried to sign him in 2006, when he opted instead to join the Vikings. Since he was released during last season, Leber is free to sign at any time.
The blue chip guys hit the market today at 4pm when free agency officially begins.
