Well, I understand the Eskin hatred… but why Plax?

He did nothing vs. NYG :(
Plus i never want another ex-Giants receiver on this team.

Depending on what happens with DeSean… it might help this team though. I still think Plax can be productive, especially as a RZ threat. I’d imagine we could sign him for a 1 year deal on the cheap side, too.
The guy had 45 receptions, 612 yards, 8 TDs last year… and not exactly in a high-powered offense with a good QB.
I think he’d be a good addition.

Steve Smith was young. Burress was 34 and spent two years in prison

You forgot to mention how...
…stev smit was coming off major knee surgery and wasn’t even ready to play right away.

But he’s still young. If he didn’t work out early in the season, he still had value midway through and late in the season. A healthy/competent Steve Smith would have been huge for the Eagles when Maclin and DeSean missed games.

In any case, I still think Plax could be a good fit here next season depending on what happens with DeSean.

Why is everyone so sure that Smith isn’t going to be healthy next year? I know he had a couple drops, but his up side could still be tremendous if he was still recuperating through the entire season. It looks like I’m the only one who thinks that it takes a year, sometimes 1.5 years to come back from these things. Remember how long it took McNabb to get back to form after his ACL? Yeah, he might be a Kevin Curtis and done for good, but I’d wait if I were Andy to see how he does in the off season before trading him.
Regarding Burress: the only time the Eagles FO signs guys that old is when they are absolutely desperate in mid-season. Last examples were Jerimiah Trotter and Witherspoon. Neither worked out very well. I don’t think they feel they are in that position.

I actually agree with you here. I’d like to bring Smith back next year if he’d be willing to sign to a reasonable deal.

I just want Smith gone. Nothing personal, but I’d like to see us purge some of bad decisions from last year and start fresh. I never understood the Smith signing to begin with. Supposedly we brought him in because of the health concerns with Maclin. If that is the case then why bring someone else in that has health concerns as well?
If we can get him cheap, maybe, let him compete for a roster spot. Honestly though, I’d rather move on and see us bring in a more physical receiver.
Go Eagles!
Exactly,
I don’t care how hurt you are – if you’re the kind of player that falls down a yard short of the first down because you’re afraid of getting hit, I don’t want you on my team.
I don’t give a crap how good you used to be.

I'd definitely wait to see if Steve Smith can get healthier...
Honestly if we lose Desean our best bet at finding a top WR may be in house and with Steve Smith.
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

I bet he would have made a bigger impact than Stev Smit in 2011. I didn’t think the Eagles FO was gonna sign a vet WR but they went out and got an ex-Giant. Perhaps, the wrong ex-Giant.
"the Patriots aren't that good." -Freddie Mitchell
Definitely the wrong ex-Giant.
Plaxico at $3 mil
vs
stev smit at $2 mil
I also think it’s funny how some people were so against signing Plax because he would “hurt Riley Cooper’s development, etc.” but then didn’t have a problem with signing stev smit.

Per Caplan (via Rotoworld)
It was no secret last offseason that Burress wanted to play for the Eagles, leaving prison in a Philly ball cap amid multiple reports that they wanted him. The Jets won a bidding war, giving Plax over $3 million guaranteed. Caplan believes Burress could upgrade the team’s red-zone offense, and points out that in-house supposed red-zone target Riley Cooper “doesn’t fight for the football” enough to excel in that role. The Eagles likely would not be signing Plax as a starter. He’d be a third receiver and inside-the-20s guy.

would be great!
At least one more year of Andy and Juan. If they don't win it all they both better be gone!
No way Eagles draft a LB in the first round 2012.
We will see if Spags was in the right place at the right time in the Gmens SB run. Or was that the fluke year and he really is just mediocre.

4TH OPTION REALLY...IF WE RESIGN DJAX
STILL 4TH OPTION BECAUSE WE’D DRAFT SOMEONE IN THE 1ST OR 2ND ANYWAY.
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"
No, see, if we get him,
He can pretend to catch a pass, tip it right into the hands of a Giants defender, and proceed to do nothing for the rest of the season.
It worked for Steve Smith!

Steve Smith remains
The New York Giants master-stroke in this rivalry. Release a guy as a trojan horse to hamstring the Eagles? Brilliant!

Granted,
We tried before y’all with Shawn Andrews.
by UnclaimedFright on Feb 8, 2012 8:58 PM EST up reply actions
This is great! Sign him up
You can’t coach 6’5 or a WR that has won it all before. He would probably be one of the toughest WR’s on our roster, and be our best redzone target. Where is the down side to signing him to a low cost contract? Vick needs bigger targets to throw too an Plax has a good relationship with Vick already.
If this happens, we won’t really have to worry terribly if DeSean is let go. Not that Plax would fill in DeSean’s spot, but this could open up the opportunity to nab a WR in the first round of the draft.
Also, we don’t have to resort to keeping Steve Smith as a veteran presence in that case.

I would sure be ok with
Maclin
Desean
Avant
Plax
Smith
3-5 round tall (over 6’1) WR prospect in the draft
for our WR’s though wouldn’t you?
All but Plax.
Eagles simply don’t hire guys that old. It won’t happen. Even if it should.
Add Cooper back in and concentrate on Linebacker.

The Eagles were the other team in the running for Plax last year.
Plax would be the best threat we have in the Redzone which is the area we have been the worst on the field, why not sign him. This is one of the in expensive low risk high reward type of moves the FO loves. Considering we just paid Steve Smith to score one TD against the Giants we should have no problem getting Plaxico Burress. Riley Cooper isnt good btw, he might be replaced in this upcoming draft.

Plax showed that he still has something in the tank last season. You need not look any further than that diving catch he made in the end zone against us. That was a flat out amazing grab.
I'd love for you guys to sign him if that meant you guys not drafting a WR at 15
leaving a better chance for Wright, Sanu or even possibly Jeffery to fall to us.

Cooper just isn't cutting it
And there aren’t a lot of tall, athletic guys that fight for the ball like Plax. Plus he might give the hometown discount considering he wants to play here so bad. Won’t be expensive to bring him in, and he fills a critical area of need. Sign me up!
Cooper is NOT CUTTING IT !!
He needs to go. Substitue Plax for a year or two.

Sign Desaun..........
draft Floyd , or Jeffery……..wish we had 2 high picks to hit a top LB also,,but maybe seasoned FA would be better anyway.take high value 2nd rounders at lb.
It's never easy being an Eagle fan........but I'll be damned if I ever stop !
Ok....forget Spags......Draft well for once in your life , PLEASE.

he`d help a lot in the redone, do to the fact that we haven`t had a tall receiver or redone weapon in a while. also, i don`t know if anyone knows, but vincent jackson is going to be able to test the market, because the chargers are reportedly not tagging or resigning him. i don’t know about you guys, and i don`t know if it`ll happen, but vjax and plax are better than just djax.

I am the proud target of temper tantrums.
I asked for him
in my mock off-season, he’s perfect for what we need, especially if we re-sign Desean.

Bullshit.

apparently a player is judged by what he does off the field and ppl fail to appreciate what he does on it
I’m sure there’s plenty of ppl here that still hate what Vick did but that doesn’t blind us from the fact that the guy is trying to better himself both as player and person. The irony of that list is that and I’m sure I’ll get the color card for this one, but anyone looking at it probably jumps to the conclusion “Oh a list of black guys doing stupid shit in their career, what else is new?” That kind of ignorance pisses me off. I’m sure McNabb would agree LOL.

also
Plax, despite whatever he did and at 34, if put in the right situation still has another 2 or 3 good years left in him. I think like Djax, just him being on the field will provide a lot of problems for the defense. If Djax remains, Plax could really cause terror being the “underneath” receiver if Desean can’t get it. If the defense shifts focus on Plax underneath, then Desean or Maclin could exploit the open range to their advantage. With these 3 guys on the field we could always keep defenses guessing whether the pass is going long or short and in the red zone, Plax would be deadly.
"If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail. You know what I mean? Fuck it." -- Kobe "Black Mamba" Bryant
Plax and Jackson
on the far right of the field (Plax wide, Djax in slot)
with Maclin wide left and Celek/Avant in the slot left
McCoy in the backfield
Jackson runs a skinny post, Burress runs something short (curl or cuts inside)
Maclin runs a go, and avant/celek runs something intermediate in the middle of the field below djax
That play would be deadly as hell, defenses would have so much trouble matching everyone up.. and if they do, McCoy could just get a dumpoff pass lol
Just wait until December..
These are supposed to be PROFESSIONAL athletes. This isnt college. At this level, they are supposed to be role models, not exceptions to rules or permissable products of ghettos and street gangs.
