There's Always Next Year

[Note by JasonB, 02/07/12 10:27 AM EST ] Several of our community members have been offering their ways to deal with the Giants Super Bowl win in the fanposts. I thought it would be fun to feature some today. I've you've got your own idea, be sure to post it over there.

As much as we talk about the history of teams, how many championships a team has won, and blah blah blah, it really is about how they play year-to-year. Congrats to the Giants. I've never seen a team get so many breaks go their way, but kudos for taking full advantage of every gift you were given. You guys earned it.

But now, a day later, the new season has already begun, and Superbowl 46 is already in the rear view mirror. I'm ready to cheer on my Eagles with the hope of taking it all the way. And if not this year, then the next year...and then the next year....and then the next...

Because, one day, we will break through. And oh, what a glorious day that will be. We will have finally done it. No more empty trophy case. No more comments about how we have never won a Superbowl. And when the naysayers will condescendingly comment how "we don't have as many Superbowls as they do," it will fall on deaf ears. Because frankly, we won't give a damn at that point - because we can finally say that we can win a Superbowl, too...

Again, congrats to the Giants - we can all argue woulda-coulda-shoulda, but it just doesn't do a damn good. Besides, it shouldn't matter if it was the Giants, Cowboys, Titans or Broncos - what does matter is that it wasn't us. The season is over, and here we are again - but as they say, there's always next year.

I look forward to joining all of you in reading and commenting along about OTA's, free agency, the draft and our 2012 season.

I will be here to speculate in the offseason, cheer during the regular season, vent in the postseason, and maybe...just maybe... finally celebrate after going the distance.
