"C'mon Man"
To start, I am an Andy Reid supporter; but I completely understand and very much respect the notion of many of you/us Eagles fans thoughts that it is time to move on from the, “Reid Era.”
There are many things Eagles fans are frustrated with, and I think rightfully so. Like waiting to get McNabb any help at the wide receiver position, not resigning certain players, not running the ball enough, the inability to draft quality and how he conducts his press conferences. They are all fair points but, you can look at many of the so called great coaches and see similar flaws or tendencies in them, just like in Andy.
I am a believer you make change only when there is a better solution; never change for the sake of change. So I ask you all this…. who would you rather have? Other than Bill Cohwer or Gruden, there is no one that can be thought of as better than Andy Reid at coaching and the operations to run a football team (And I would take Andy over Gruden any day). I challenge you to look at his record in his tenure (2nd best in the NFL), playoff appearances, championship appearances, NFC East Titles and over all success of the team. YES I KNOW HE HAS NOT WON THE SB, but, not many coaches have. To win a Super Bowl starts with being competitive, which the Eagles are every year, except 05/06(terrible). Every year we know we have as good a chance to win as anyone, and I appreciate that as a third generation season ticket holder. As we blame Andy, does anyone remember Maclins drop vs the Falcons? Or Vince Youngs performance vs the Seahawks or inability to stop Kevin Kolb who throw the ball through double coverage for 2 quarters to Fitz, or a certain FG vs 49ers? Not Reids fault, or Castillos, but the players…. A Coach puts his players in a position to be successful and then the players execute. From my memory, other than the Patriots/Seahawks game, we were in a position to be successful in every game, and that’s what a coaches job is.
So, when you ask for Reid’s head on a golden platter, ask yourself this. Who or what options would be better, and how long will you give that coach till you ask for his head? The some of you all who are asking for his head now are the same people who on Easter some 3 years ago, were saying the McNabb trade was the worst trade in Eagles history- you same people said Michael Vick would have no success when we signed him. Both look like good moves and also lets not forget to mention those that wanted Kevin Kolb- Yes he beat us, but it looks like he is getting cut this year in the AZ… So again, I challenge you to have faith, check the facts and support our team. Before Andy we would have prayed for 8-8 and now 8-8 is a complete failure….. If 8-8 is doomsday and the worst possible scenario, I think I can live with that.
Thanks to anyone who reads, was written with respect to all and E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
