The Linc - A Depressing Super Bowl Link
2004 Philadelphia Eagles (13-3) - Top 15 Teams To Not Win The Super Bowl - Photos - SI.com
The 2004 Eagles played in a haggard NFC East that season, and their margins with point differential (7.9) and turnovers (plus 6) were anything but stellar. But there's no disputing Philly's greatness with Terrell Owens in the starting lineup -- try 13-1. And it could have been 15-1 if a broken leg hadn't shelved Owens for most of December and all of January -- but not the Super Bowl in February, as T.O. defied the medical odds and caught nine balls for 122 yards in the Eagles' 24-21 loss to the Patriots.
Could Dawkins retire as an Eagle?
If Dawkins decides to retire, which is a good bet at this point given his age and the neck injury, there's a good chance the future Hall of Famer would sign a one-day contract with the Eagles so that he could officially retire with the club that selected him in the second round of the 1996 draft. ``We'll see,'' he said. ``I don't even want to think too deeply about that right now. If it happens, just let it be a surprise to everybody and it'll be a surprise for myself and we'll go from there.'

Back in 2004, I seriously had confidence we could take on ANY team no matter how good they were or who they had on their team.

Yeah bittersweet because that team was deadly and I was confident watching every eagle game knowing we would win. We rarely fell behind in games and wasn’t even nervous in the NFC Championship because I knew we were going to win. Yet we still couldn’t win a super bowl that year.

That 04 team...
Had a hell of an offense. Westbrook, T.O, Mc5 in his prime….what a shame. Just one SB please…
That D wasn’t too shabby either:
Jeramiah Trotter, Brian Dawkins, Michael Lewis, Sheldon Brown, Dhani Jones (yeah I know I know, but he was still good), Lito Sheppard (The good side), Jevon Kearse (healthy), Corey Simon, Hugh Douglas.
If I remember correctly they were a top 10 defense overall.

You forgot your sarcasm font.
That D was nasty. Seriously they were everything we weren’t this year. Calculating, fast, fierce, tough, grimy. I miss those days.

It was good but not great. The 01-03 defenses were better imo. Statistically even the 08 defense was better.

I love how there are always these people who...
are giving up their season tickets every year. My brother’s number on the waiting list has been under a thousand for six years now and he’s still waiting to get his tickets.
I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.

wasn't he the one that suplexed somebody?
i think it might have been santana moss on the redskins or something but it was fucking pricless. he has a couple kill shots in the end zone that were classics aswell. i miss him almost as much as jim johnson…
and as far as the 04 team goes
that is the sole reason i hate the patriots and have ever since 2004. which makes this SB the worst case scenario with the hated giants playing the equally hated patriots. its a no-win situation. pissed about this whole season overall we underachieved big time. hopefully juan can get his shit straight for next season.
