Doubt it

It’s often a big playoffs rematch. I’d bet on Green Bay. They’re supposed to host Green Bay next year and opening night would probably be the natural week to do it.

+1

Although I would have no issue if it was the eagles. The whole world gets to watch the “redeem team” (yes or no on the name) show the Giants whos the real class of the east

Opening game is rarely divisional

Eagles Off-season:
Re-Sign: Desean Jackson, Evan Mathis, Antonio Dixon, Derek Landri, King Dunlap
Trade: Asante for a 3; Trade 15 overall down to 21 (Cin) + 3rd Rd pick
Sign: Plaxico Burress, Ladanian Tomlinson, Curtis Lofton, Reggie Nelson
Draft: 1. Janoris Jenkins 2. Ryan Tannehill 2. Jared Crick 3. Bobby Wagner 3rd. Brandon Boykin

Wasn't it Redskins vs Giants

just a few years ago

Just wait until December..

Yeah, but they've said they plan to move away from that

There are some exceptions i suppose, i just dont think it will be us in the opener

Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"

Other than NFC East teams

These are their 2012 home games.

New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers

It will be one of New Orleans, Green Bay, or Pittsburgh.

Thats a brutal schedule for the giants next year. Browns will be better assuming they get RG3 and the Bucs still have a good core and a lot of cap space.

As opposed

to the cupcake schedule they played last year? Hardest schedule in the league two years in a row sounds about right.

As opposed to not even making it at all?

not sure where you’re going with this.

which reflects badly on the Eagles

They got the Bears and Falcons INSTEAD OF Green Bay and New Orleans. Never has winning the division been such a boon, schedule wise.

I mean, the Giants are the worst NFC East winner ever, right? Hell, worst Super Bowl winner ever, right?

I was going to say “Well they played the Redskins last time they won the Super Bowl” but then I checked & Washington made the playoffs

I still wouldn’t be surprised if it was us we’re there biggest rivals & I have a feeling whether any of us like it or not we’re going to have to deal with being “The Dream Team” for one more year & they might want “The Dream Team” vs the Super Bowl Champs in week 1 but then again they’ll have two chances to put that matchup on. If not us I think it will be Green Bay

I know it’s just a matter of time if not.

He's a free agent

He’s only here on a one year deal.

And that year is… UP!

by Dave King on Feb 28, 2012 9:48 PM EST up reply actions

Only a 1 year deal but the FO wanted a 2 year deal originally so I guess everyone should be happy that VY would only sign a 1 year deal, I don’t think he would of been released if he did sign the 2 year deal though.

same.

I’m pretty sure we will break the home winning streak for the SB champ and nothing about that team scares me.

by RealSantaClaude on Feb 29, 2012 12:00 AM EST up reply actions

Yea, 7-1 vs. NYG in the last 8 games. I like the chances of making a statement against the defending champs on opening day.

As for Captain Nodar, “I sure hope it is not vs. the Eagles, I likes my Sunday football”
I disagree because we’d be seeing the game earlier than we would otherwise. On the other hand, SNF and MNF games really piss me off too because of the extra wait (and ridiculous number of commercials).

by MikeCampy on Feb 29, 2012 12:33 AM EST up reply actions

no surprise the super bowl champs always opens.

I’d love for it to be us.. I want to go in there kick there ass and set a statement as they get there rings

Yeah that would be awesome.

F their rings.

Eagles will be 11-5 or 12-4 in 2012

I would be down for it to be us

We get an extra long week to prepare for week 2 after Vick throws bombs to Jackson, Maclin and Sanu, and Keekly intercepts the game winner

Just wait until December..

I want the Eagles to play them in the opener

And in the last game of the season (we played Dallas and Washington last game for three years, it’s the Giants’ turn), where we destroy their playoff hopes.

its funny,

You can read through the comments and see everyone on those blogs saying" But their OC is an Oline coach!" and “Their Linebackers are terrible.” and “Vick will get hurt and Vince Young blows!”. Then you get to thinking… These millionaire executives REALLY couldn’t have seen the issues they had coming?

by RealSantaClaude on Feb 29, 2012 12:24 AM EST up reply actions

The difference is the Phillies/Eagles didn’t have to surrender valuable draft picks for Lee/Nnamdi. This would be quite the cost.

I think we’ll have a good idea if the Eagles are going after RG3 once we see what they do in free agency.

why not?

this could be intriguing.. The Eagles can show they’re here to play this year on a national broadcast. And, IF the Eagles bring in Plax (which seems about 75% likely at this point) that would make for a very intriuging match-up and probably break some Tv rating records in the process.

Let's go EAGLES!!!

I would think Giants vs PAckers would be a greater national draw. Giants vs Steelers prob even more

I really think that it is going to be Packers, Steelers, or Saints.

A divisional game, while exciting, caters to a narrower audience.

Go Eagles!
