Earlier in the off season I posted a mock draft of what I thought could realistically happen. Obviously with the keeping of Juan Castillo I failed on that part. Now I have done a lot more research and tape watching since then (mostly for the mock draft section), that I wanted to make a part 2 to this mock with a lot of changes.
Free Agency - I originally believed that the Eagles would hit FA this year real light. I've come to change my mind the more and more I think about it.
Stephen Tulloch - MLB - Eagles get the MLB they need to make all the pieces of the puzzle on defense work. With the very abled and talented Stephen Tulloch in the center we don't get an all-star MLB like Curtis Lofton, but a much better piece to our defense that fits our scheme. He's already proved for years now that he can not only handle, but thrive in a wide 9 defense.
Tyvon Branch - SS - I've loved Tyvon since he played in UCONN, and was very irritable that they missed him in the draft when he came out. Branch is an instant upgrade to who we have at SS and already has chemistry with a certain high profile CB on our d.
Fat Al - DT - Washburn convinces fat al to come to PHI to try and resurrect his career. The contract will have to be a very very incentive based deal. Mostly bringing him in for competition for Patterson.
Eddie Royal - RS - Lets face it, Royal is not a WR, he's a return specialist. Andy sees Desean to valuable to allow to risk getting hurt on return game so we bring in Royal as a huge upgrade as a returner over Dion Lewis. Also a one year deal.
Release - Vince Young, Ronnie Brown, Steve Smith, Trevor Laws, Jaqua Parker, Daryl Tapp, Akeem Jordan, King Dunlap
Resigned - Desean Jackson (Franchise Tag), Evan Mathis, Owen Schmitt, Derek Landri, Antonio Dixon
Trades -
Desean Jackson - I had originally mocked Jackson getting traded, I no longer believe it, they do what I've been begging PHI to do since they drafted him. He's now a faster Wes Welker in the slot.
Asante Samuel - Asante gets sent to Carolina for their third round pick.
Mock Draft -
1st Round - 15 overall - Melvin Ingram - DE - Andy Reid does it again! Not to happy with this pick, but watching draft day since taking McNabb every year, this is what I expect the most. Grabbing S.Tulloch in FA I'm not furious with the pick. Its the best player on the board. Best pass-rusher by far in the draft, and had a dominate senior bowl.
2nd Round - 46 overall - Mohamed Sanu - WR - Eagles get a steal here in the second round. Sanu is a true number one receiver coming from a crappy school. Big body, fast, with great hands. The more I watch tape on this kid the more I fall in love with him.
2nd Round - 51 overall (From Ari) - Kendall Reyes - DT - Kendall Reyes helps the number one pick solve the Eagles biggest problem this year, and that's stopping the run, Reyes is a massive DT at 6-4 and is an absolute machine when it comes to disrupting the line. Will make a great fit next to Jenkins and much needed upgrade over Patterson.
3rd Round -73 overall (From Car) - Brock Osweiler - QB - I'm putting no stock in the fact they just signed Trent Edwards. This is a project pick for Andy, Brock is a massive body with a massive arm. Only down side is he has accuracy problems, which Andy/Marty are more than capable of fixing in a year of work **Vick**
3rd Round -77 overall - Stephon Gilmore - CB - Gilmore is going to fall because he has consistency issues. Eagles need depth at CB now with Asante gone and snatch up Gilmore in the third.
4th Round -99 overall (From TB) - Bobby Wagner - OLB - Very good OLB, with great instincts, showed up at the senior bowl and deff raised his stock. Could fight for a starting job in training camp and pre-season over Fokou.
4th Round -114 overall - Isiah Pead - RB - Dynamic return specialist. Going to fight Eddie Royal for the starting PR/KR job. Great hands out of back-field and fights for extra yardage. May beat out Dion Lewis for number 2 spot to spell Mccoy when he needs a break.
Not going to mock out past this but I got Tashan Gibson CB, Wyoming, Josh Chichester TE, Louisville, and Brandon Mosley OT, Auburn as my possibilities for remaining picks. Obviously its hard enough to figure out what Andy Reid and the Eagles will do on draft day as it is.
