Offseason moves and how that could affect early rounds of the draft

There are so many possibilities for how the FO could address the team's needs I just want to see what other fans think should be done to fill holes in FA and the draft.

Star-divide

Personally I'd like to see us sign Fletcher on a 2 year deal as our MLB and bring back Jackson if possible. Re-sign Mathis at all costs. As for the draft:

1- DT- just because this draft is so deep and we could use a young DT who doesn't have question marks about him.

2a- SAM or WILL- Improve LB corps

2b- WR (with ability as kick/punt returner)- really need to improve our return game

3- QB/LB/OT- add depth

What do you guys think should be done?

Offseason

Bye Desean
Hello Vincent Jackson (FA/WR) 4years 40 million, Stephen Tullock (FA/MLB) 5 years 27 million, Donta Hightower (1st Draft/SLB)

Ummm

You do realize 4 years 40 million unless back loaded is still 10 million a year which is “Fitz” type money… VJax is not worth 10 Million a year. Also it is Tulloch.

ummmmmmm...

My apologies on the spelling as I was a little tired at work on the night shift. However, Vincent Jackson will get 10 million a season from someone. Why won’t he? Is he not better than Desean Jackson (who’s gone on record asking for Fitz money)?

(selects spellcheck… ok cool, I’m good.)

Well -

I would look at it like this

R1. Either a DT, or a MLB. My list would go 1. Michael Brooker 2. Luke Kuechly 3. Devon Still. For me London Fletcher does not have enough left in the tank but I might sign him for a single year and then look at Tom Wort of Oklahoma in 2013

R2a. Maybe the best SAM option is Ronnell Smith of Oklahoma. He should be available. I can’t see Reid going for a SS but I can see a WR here like Dwight Jones or Junior Criner especially if we don’t sign a big WR like Vincent Jackson or Marques Colston in Free Agency. Some mocks have us taking a QB like Osweiler or Foles.

R2b. With the possibility of Samuel being moved, depth at CB becomes a need. And if Nate Allen slides over to SS, then a FS is called for. Trumaine Johnson of Montana could fit either possition and if climbing. I would also not rule out a RT – Reid brought in Ryan Harris last year as he wasn’t satisfied with Dunlap or Justice and we don’t have depth here.

R3. This could be anything from a RT to let Todd slide back inside to a downhill runner like Bernard Pierce to spell McShay. Another SLB prospect like Audie Cole is also a possibility here as well.

My personal inclination is:

1. Michael Brooker DT
2a Ronnell Smith SLB
2b Trumaine Johnson FS/CB
3. Audie Cole MLB

Later in the draft I would look to take Bernard Pierce RB (4a), Brian Quick WR (4b), Mike Ryan G/T (5) and Markus Kuhn DT (6)

My No1 Free Agent target is Marques Colston

I know we'll probably lose Asante but dont we still have plenty of depth?

Starters: NA, DRC
Depth: Hanson, Marsh, Hughes,

I know safety is position that could be upgraded, but I just can’t picture Andy taking another safety early in the draft, unless he were to go all or nothing by drafting Barron

What if NA or DRC gets hurt?

Do you feel comfortable with a career slot corner or a pair of untested young guys stepping in for either of them for a significant amount of time? I don’t.

New thought

If they are looking DT, I could see them trading down a few spots and still getting the guy they want. With so many potential first rounders in this draft, an extra three could be helpful on Day 2 of the draft.

It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.

rec'd

I still think they could trade down and get LB, Kuckley will be gone before 15 and we trade back a bit and get Hightower. and get one or 2 extra picks. I like the idea of signing Loudon Fletcher also. Teach these new guys what it takes to be a player

This is my first rec...... I'm going to cry!

Now that this is over, I’m better.

I’d like to see how FA and the draft plays out- people will fall where they shouldn’t fall to (see Maclin, Amukamara) and then who knows. I’d love to have an extra 2 or 3 laying around for this year.

It is possible that if we get rid of Asante (assuming a 3 here) and trading down in the 1st, we could have 3 three’s (3) which I would be more than happy with. 2 2’s and 3 3’s would be great ammo for the second day of the draft. However, leave it at that and don’t accumilate more pics. 6 in the first three rounds should be sufficient.

It’s so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don’t say it.
