Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jamar Chaney was the only linebacker on the team to start all 16 games last season. He was also the only one who had offseason surgery for a herniated disc in his neck.

Chaney says he didn't need the surgery but went through with it for prohibitive reasons.

good thing he’s probably going to be a back up next year anyway. I had high hopes for him the way he finished strong in 2010. wonder if juan was a reason he went backwards…he just didn’t seem like the same guy who was making 10-15 tackles a game when he filled in for stew

fixed

wonder if juan small sample size was a reason he went backwards

Chaney had like 1.5 good games last season. He was seriously overrated to start the year.

Very overrated.

Remember when Brian Baldinger said he was one the best MLB’s in the NFL after his first start?

I hate Castillo.

I think he’s honestly one of the worst coaches in the league. But Chaney is overrated. That’s one of the few things on this shitsack defense that’s NOT the fault of juan man.

The bad news? Castillo's back.

The good news? With the 7-9 season coming up and all the Eagles games being played at 1:00 (and in the bag for the opponent by 2:30 at the latest), we'll all have plenty of time to rake the leaves and whack off. Stock up on your Astro Glide, ladies!

Linebacker roles changed when we went to the wide 9

and with the merry go round of LB assignments until we found a set that didn’t look too embarassing, it was tough for any player to achieve any kind of positive rhythm.

Chaney is good and may be better, but he was the best of the unprepared LB to play in the wide 9 – where DL do NOT absorb 2 blockers so that you can make the tackle.

The operation is enough to give eagles reason to load up at LB…

by milroyigglesfan on Feb 14, 2012 7:37 PM EST reply actions

Exactly. Maybe Chaney would have been servicable in a defense that didn’t feature the wide-9 (2010), but the reason he was so bad is because he isn’t a read-react type linebacker.

He was kind of like Curley from the 3 Stooges last year.

… he could be the toughest of the stooges, but you had to give him a sniff of Wild Hyacinth perfume and he would go ‘whoop whoop whoop" and knock people down. Moe and Larry weren’t as good. I wouldn’t pick any of the three for the pro bowl.

Is he planning to be ready to actually tackle anybody next year? That’d be nice.

I forgot he was getting neck surgery

And I was like…..What? You were planning on not being ready for minicamp?

Didn’t Ellis Hobbs have pretty much the same procedure a year before he retired?

If Chaney is 100% he will compete for the SAM position.

His MLB days for the Eagles are done for. The only for sure LB corps starter currently on the roster going into 2012 is Brian Rolle at WILL.

The question marks are MIKE, SAM and SS for the defense. And it would not hurt to add a run stuffing double team occupying DT in the draft.

by Almightypudster on Feb 15, 2012 10:23 AM EST reply actions

Idk I think he will be competing for the Mike…Chaney himself said that he was working out with Jeremiah Trotter…so idk hopefully some of Trotter rubbed of on him

Prohibitive?

Haha, I think Chaney meant preventative, I hope he didn’t get a “prohibitive” surgery.

Chaney honestly has some good ability...

But at this point all of our LB’s are backups.

Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...

Wild_Eagle!

Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.
