At first glance, the idea may seem really dumb. I thought so too until I read the article. This guy is to the only one who raises the possibility of the league folding due to head inuries. This is an interesting article released last week about the ramifications of head injuries and the potential lawsuits that go along with them. Long story short, if insurance companies refuse to insure high school or college teams due to lawsuits based on head injuries (suicide with CTE present at autopsy), it would be very difficult to get people to sanction any kind of amateur game when referees and coaches would be opened up to multimillion dollar lawsuits. The article goes on to say that if it is uninsurable, and with no feeder systems in place, the league could easily fold.
