Sporting News Mock Draft Has Guess Who To The Eagles?
Russ Lande of The Sporting News released his latest mock this week and guess who he has the Eagles taking?!
15. Philadelphia Eagles: Luke Kuechly*, LB, Boston College. With Andy Reid at the helm, the Eagles have never taken a linebacker in the first round. But Kuechly is a special athlete who draws comparisons to Brian Urlacher and would solve their biggest weakness.
No way you guessed that right? I mean, it's not like almost every other mock draft has the same thing...
Like I've said before, this pick makes sense now, but there's certainly a decent crop of LBs set to hit the free agent market that might better fit the Eagles needs than a rookie. Although the prospect of getting a guy that fill one of those spots for the next 6-7 years is enticing, the team already has so much youth at the LB position, adding more may not be the solution.
Although... the next Brian Urlacher would be nice.

Mock drafts are fun to read(although not that much this year since besides 1 or 2 people everyone has given us the same player) but they are kind of pointless until the first or second week of Free Agency is done. Never really thought of that though until you brought this up.

It would be nice to not see another mock until after free agency.
AR should have to wear a Flava Flav necklace until he learns how to manage a clock.
I am the proud target of temper tantrums.
Here is mine
At least one more year of Andy and Juan. If they don't win it all they both better be gone!
No way Eagles draft a LB in the first round 2012.
We will see if Spags was in the right place at the right time in the Gmens SB run. Or was that the fluke year and he really is just mediocre.

As a BC alum and eagles fan
This is a sure thing. Never seen a college linebacker fly to the ball like this. Run stuffer, can defend the pass, total package. Complete home run pick

From the highlights I have seen, Kuechly reminds me more of London Fletcher then Brian Urlacher, but I woudlnt mind have a London Fletcher type MLB for the next decade
If we draft Kuechly and he becomes London Fletcher, this defense will be very good right away.

I don’t know, FA wasn’t a complete loss: Jenkins was a great signing, Mathis was a great find, Babin got his sacks (and yes, I know it was at the cost of stopping the run) and while NA wasn’t the NA we expected, he was still productive to very productive the majority of the time (and hopefully will be utilized more like he was in OAK in the future). If we focus on just getting a legit, proven MIKE to make tackles behind the wide9 during FA this year, then focus on taking BPA’s throughout the draft, we should be in a position to succeed next year and I will be happy with the offseason’s efforts.
great points
I agree that FA DID make us a better team long term… but the lack of continuity early in the season killed us, and allowed the giants to sneak into the playoffs and get a ring.
That said im still pretty pissed about how all-in we went with free agency, BUT I do believe getting kuechley AND a good FA linebacker would be ideal.
LK being mocked to us in almost every draft is not a good thing.
Reid and company rarely ever do what is expected on draft day. Some people have come out and said Burfict would be a better pick for us he could be the next Jeremiah Trotter.
I look at it this way if we draft Kuechly, Burfict or Hightower I will be happy. The 1st rd pick has to be a LB. Even if we somehow get Tulloch or Lofton in free agency. But if DJAX goes the 1st rd pick will be a WR.

This pick makes too much sense

Probably end up...
…taking an undersized DE. Andy always needs another fastball.
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, there will be no trade for Monta!
Eagles gotta draft him
But the big comfort in knowing that is if they do not draft him, their backup plan must be bigtime.

How can Kuechly be like Urlacher?
LK is small and slow and he can’t get off blocks or tackle.

False. He isn’t like Urlacher but he isn’t small, slow and he can tackle and get off blocks. He’s more like Sean Lee.

Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"

I would like to thank my hands for being so great, for allowing me to type this post.

Common sense choice...
but Eagles go with a DL or OL just to be the Eagles.
Call me crazy but I bet they go for a tackle in the first round.
They move herremans back to guard after not resigning Evan Mathis. Then they take Reiff or Martin to play right tackle.
Favorite Prospects: Martin, Burfict, Rainey, Curry
There is no way this happens.
They’re going to go with another high motor bust like Graham, DTN or Jerome McDougle.
The bad news? Castillo's back.
The good news? With the 7-9 season coming up and all the Eagles games being played at 1:00 (and in the bag for the opponent by 2:30 at the latest), we'll all have plenty of time to rake the leaves and whack off. Stock up on your Astro Glide, ladies!
well I think we'll draft one of the players in that picture...
