Mock Draft 1.0
I have seen many interesting Mock's going on here the last week or 2 and I finally decided I was going to make my own. This is opinion based on what I would do if I had my choice to run this team for this upcoming draft and free agency period.
Just a small section on FA signings & players I would let walk/bring back.
Bring back players -
Desean Jackson - (this is as long as we work out a reasonable contract) I am not breaking the bank for him
Derek Landri - He found his spot on this team & will improve
King Dunlap - Always great to have a solid back up
Owen Schmit - Not flashy & very quite but has earned his spot on this team
Let'em walk -
Steve Smith, Juqua Parker, Vince Young, Ronnie Brown, Victor Abiamiri, Antonio Dixon - All of these guys I am sorry but can live without.
Now to my draft - First trade - Eagles trade back from 15th to 22nd with Cleveland in exchange get 4th in 2012 & 3rd in 2013 - Asante Samuels to MIN for 3rd - #67
1st (22) - Dont'a Hightower - Alabama - ILB
2nd (46) - Fletcher Cox - Mississippi State - DT
2nd (51-AZ) - Zebrie Sanders - Florida St. - OT
3rd (67 -MIN) - Coryell Judie - Texas A&M - CB
3rd (77) - Dwight Jones - North Carolina - WR
4th(99 -TB) - Emmanuel Acho - Texas - OLB
4th(100-CLE) - Russell Wilson - Wisconsin - QB
4th (114)- Joe Adams - Arkansas - WR
5th (145)- Mike Brewster - Ohio State - C
6th (176)- Matt Conrath - Virginia - DE
6th (183-DEN)- Brian Linthicum - Michigan St - TE
6th (189-NE)- Jaye Howard - Florida - DT
No 7th rd picks & UDFA are way to many to look at.
This is again what I would do and hope strongly that the Eagles take this serious and puch the defensive picks early and often. I know they will jump back and take some offensive guys but get us a couple d starters to hit it off.
So lets have it, am I stretching on trades? Never happen with some of these picks? Lets discuss.

No way we get rid of Dixon. That kid has earned a spot regardless of last years injury.

Has he? I am not counting anything with the guy. Too many players have come and gone that we thought were good or that we thought were on the cusp and they didn’t end up being shit

agree'd
I am tired of waiting to see if the will work out cause they have potential, its time to make something happen whiel we have this team still young enough to work this out and win this thing.
He's at least earned a shot to fight for a job here wouldn't you say?
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

If Dixon gets a chance to fight for a spot (iffy) AND has returned to full health (iffier) AND can remain healthy (even iffier), then I would put his chances at a coin flip that he is an Eagle next year. Dude has talent, just needs to get on the field and show it consistently.

Honestly, Dixon's a lock for TC at least for me, I definitely don't spend a high pick on a DT
or break the bank for one because Dixon when he’s playing is a very capable player…
Now granted if he’s not healthy then he’s not worth it.

Yea but
you have to sign him to a deal that he will agree upon as some team out there will sign him. I just dont put that much faith in him and can move on without being heart broken. I would take my chances on someone new is all I am saying
Why would we not bring him back?
He’s clearly the best DT we had in 2010 and got off to a good start before in injury in 2011… I don’t see 1 good reason why we wouldn’t bring him back for a reasonable price.

reasonable
price says it all, alot of teams out there over pay for someone that “could” make a difference on their team. The eagles will not rush to sign him and another team will put more money forward then the Eagles willing to pay. That is why I have him walking.
Zebrie Sanders is HORRIBLE.

LBs
hightower is plenty smart enough but has been rumored to be closer to 270 than an already beefy 260. If he can’t do 4.65 or better at the combines he’s a 3-4 guy. Kuechly might still be there and he’s a lock. Need to do better with their 2ns LB. Audie Cole at 6.4, 248 can play Sam and Mike and compete with Chaney and Keuchly. Add in Rolle and they have 4 solid, young and highly versatile LBs. They should get Clevelands 3rd in 2012.
good point
I would still perfer Hightower & hope he can run in that range, but totally agree with you on that. And I thought about the 3rd this year but like I said above to many tight relationships there and may need help somewhere later.
very good point
in the on going debate maybe we should leverage some of are near term assets . just sayin.
not always what everybody thinks it is. 3rd this year is OK but what about a 4th this year and a 3rd next year?Just sayin.
Lots of tight relationship, can’t overstate that.
Maybe next year. Who knows?
I agree
There are some good OLB prospects that will fall to the later rounds that have good size and athleticism that have also been productive in their carrier. I really like Audie Cole for all the same reasons you said and he should be there around the forth round. Another LBer I really like that should be there around the 4th round is Keenan Robinson from Texas. He is big 6’3 240 and athletic and has been really productive for that defense. He had 106 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one sack, one safety, 13 pressures, seven pass breakups and two caused fumbles on the season. He could play either OLB spot. Another guy I like that is big and athletic 6’3 240 is Nigal Bradham for FSU. He had 86 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two ints, five pass breakups and one caused fumbles on the season. He will probably go in the third round.
Victor
not sure why everyone needs to cut Victor. He doesn’t take up a roster spot. Offer him league minimum and an invite to training camp. There’s no downside. He did beat out Parker a few years ago on merit. Either he clearly wins a spot or not. Ditto Parker. Dixon was getting a lot of love in 2010 including some pro- bowl mention. He got off to a bad start in 2011 but so did every 2010 and 2011 draft pick. They’re not cutting him.
right
sometimes i think people don’t analyze all the repurcushions of cutting a high draft pick like it was just anybody like a undrafted free agent which he wasn’t. so he was pretty good he got drafted in the 2nd round so why not give him a chance everyone deserves a second chance he didn’t kill dogs or nothing why does everyone want to cut him.
Umm, only made it past TC like once then got hurt 2 weeks into the season when he was backing up Parker...
I don’t see how he couldn’t beat him out.

Yeah I like the Hightower pick, he brings that run stopping ability that Jeremiah trotter used to bring on field…only Problem is scouts say he is a 3-4 LB but maybe if he improves on his 40 time he can play MLB at the next level he played it fine in colleges and He has strength and block shed ablitity to play the wide nine
this mock is reasonable
I just think we can get more from trading back 7 spots. I think you get at least a 3rd and 4th for it. Not a huge fan of Sanders but I think if he fell to the 3rd I’d take him. I think the first three picks should go LB or DT, then LB, DE
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"

Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring it Home for Jerome.
Hightower is the guy I’m pulling for, and I’m less worried about a 40 time than most. He played Will before he tore his ACL. Three years removed from that injury and I think he’ll be closer to “full” speed.
I’m going to show my bias here but I’d rather have the defensive captain of a SEC team (let alone the “National Champions”) than defensive captain of an ACC team. I can’t say that I watched any BC games though, so everything I have to go on are the “scouting reports” and youtube.
I hate Sanders and would be upset with that pick. However, if the Eagles got Judie (as an A&M alum I like him a lot) and Adams in the 4th I’d probably forget all about the Sanders pick…. well maybe not. I’d still be pissed.
yea
no one likes the Sanders pick but as a stand point I made earlier he fits Howard Mudd thats why you make the pick. I know we only have this guy 1 maybe 2 more years but gotta put the guys in place for him and I think Sanders fits.
I also have thought about the Brewster pick and kills me as a michigan man to stick with him I wouldnt mind see my boy Molk instead. Either way a center we will need as J Jackson will be gone this year
oh and I
couldnt agree more about the ACC/SEC comparison usually works out better, but if the do chose Luke then I hope he can prove us wrong because I will boo his ass if the draft him
"A" grade material
I would welcome the first 5 on this team with high hopes. Adams was grabbed in a good spot, even Linthicum has intrigue. Hightower is my favorite MLB this year. I am probably affected by the hype followed by the championship game. But I feel like he would have been this hyped all along if not for his injury last year.
At least one more year of Andy and Juan. If they don't win it all they both better be gone!
No way Eagles draft a LB in the first round 2012.
We will see if Spags was in the right place at the right time in the Gmens SB run. Or was that the fluke year and he really is just mediocre.

Oh I
feel the same way and his combine will knock him into the 1st round. He is a beast and what we need.
Loved the following:
1st (22) – Dont’a Hightower – Alabama – ILB
2nd (51-AZ) – Zebrie Sanders – Florida St. – OT
3rd (77) – Dwight Jones – North Carolina – WR
4th(99TB) – Emmanuel Acho – Texas – OLBJoe Adams – Arkansas – WR
4th(100-CLE) – Russell Wilson – Wisconsin – QB
4th (114)
I don’t think Adams will make it that far down…especially after he runs a 4.28 at the Combine. Wilson is a bit of a stretch at pick 100, imo, but he’s worth it. Kid is truly underrated (Signed: a UNC fan). Dwight Jones is boom or bust. And Sanders is a nice backup at RT and insurance on Hairymans.
Now, the trades, which are the basis of your picks, I’m not so sure I like. I know Asante is aging…but I will consider it a loss if we only get a 3rd back for him. And Reid might get mugged if he trades back in the first round this year. It would be interesting to see who you envision on the board at our original pick 15.
Why do people always think I'm playing the Race Card???
Is it because I'm black???
Wait...
….I didn’t strikethrough any of those.
Why do people always think I'm playing the Race Card???
Is it because I'm black???
I
envision no one worth that high of a pick. I am truely sure we take Luke if he is there but I am assuming he is gone and that is why we trade back. And is Adams really going to be uner the 4.3 mark in the 40? If he does he will sky rocket at least early 3rd or late 2nd but everyone still questions size for some reason. I still like Dwight Jones to make this team and alot of playing time. thanks for the input
Really?
No one worth pick 15? Apparently, not a Keulchy fan at all. lol
Yeah, I think he will run sub 4.3 or right at it.
Why do people always think I'm playing the Race Card???
Is it because I'm black???
I am
impressed with Keulchy has done at the college level and think he is not going to be around for pick 15. At that point there are alot of people that could be options to take at 15 but we can still get an upgraded defensive player while trading back and picking up a couple more picks with Fletcher or Hightower. So its not that I am against Luke just dont think he is there come pick 15. And I will be very impressed with a 4.3 time. I like him as an Eagle and think we could make a push for him.
`
At this point, we need to accept that the Eagles will not take a first round linebacker until they prove us wrong. I think Reid will be way too tempted to take Cox or Still at DT with his first round pick.
Not to mention the fact that if Reid’s favorite QB slips to 11, will Reid be able to help himself?
Linebacker
I accept the Eagles won’t draft a LB in the first round. I also accept that they will draft a lineman, safety, or QB with their first round pick [my gut tells me the Eagles first pick is a DT]. SO HELP ME GOD IF THEY DON’T GET A STARTING LINEBACKER IN THE SECOND ROUND…
A question: do you guys think the Eagles could demand a decent starting LB in exchange for Samuel? If so who?
