I was alarmed last week when Roseman wouldn't flatly commit to paying the $7.5 million the Eagles are going to need to pay Cullen Jenkins next month to keep him here.........And, the $7.5 million is owed because that's the contract the Eagles agreed to last summer. Kinda the flip side of how DeSean Jackson was expected to play for $600,000 last season. Maybe the Eagles never intended to pay the money, maybe Jenkins was a one-year rental all along. If so, they did an even worse job in free agency than we thought. After all that song and dance about their calculations and the unique opportunities the postlockout market presented, their only longterm acquisitions were Nnamdi Asomugha, who fell in their lap, and Jason Babin?

Agreed...but

It would save us almost 8 million, that coupled with other cap space and axing of guys like Justice ….would allow us to go after Dwayne Bowe, Tulluch, and/or other top free agents yet again.

I want Jenkins to stay, but if the difference between getting two top FAs is letting him go, I have to say goodbye. If they do that they better go after Still in the draft, and maybe another DT in the middle rounds.

If I remember correctly,

Babin had the same stipulation on his contract that would allow the eagles to release him.

It’s smart because had either of them really been a bust, the Eagles would have been off the hook.

Having the option to pay free agent acquisitions that have worked out is what I like to call a good problem.

This also could mean that if Jenkins leaves, they draft Devon Still in the 1st. I love Still and I think he will be a terrific DT, but we have other needs.

Trade him

Trade him to NE for a 5th round draft pick. Then trade that 5th round draft pick for 2-6th round draft picks and a 7th round draft. Then have your publicist write a story about how much of a genius you are.
