Mind Stew

No singular story theme here - I've just too many disconnected thoughts to make them cohesive. Maybe a few will resonate with you. Merry Christmas and may the NFL ban the NFC East from participating in the playoffs for lack of meeting quality standards....

  • I couldn't believe how hard i was rooting for the Eagles on the last drive. My head was telling me "they will only lose a draft slot and we need to erase any lingering thoughts Lurie might have of keeping Andy" but my Italian Philly anger was seething as I mentally committed to going to both Redskins games next year and getting into fights. What horse's asses these Skins fans are given how long they have sucked and how much they've accomplished thus far - mortgage the future, maybe win the worst division in football after your own coach gave up on you at 3-6. They are still a joke of a franchise from the top right down to their stadium.
  • Colt Anderson over Coleman or Allen any day. I'd take a tree stump over Coleman so that's not saying much but honestly, and this is pure emotion not logic - I don't care if tape breakdown shows Colt is worse (and he isn't) but I'd rather have him in there, hitting some people hard, being anywhere near the play and just being a ball player than either of those two who haven't hit anyone hard in years or seem to understand anything about how the sport of football is played. Both of them remind me of those scholar athletes that lettered in 4 sports because college is slower, dumber and softer than professional but for some reason, felt they should play the one where they barely made the starting team and now realize "oh sh#$, these NFL guys only play one sport and they're really good!"
  • No Cowher, No Gruden....No Cowher, No Gruden....No Cowher, No Gruden... both of them were over rated then and only more now. Cowher got out coached every big game. Even the Super Bowl vs. the Seahawks, with a superior team, they won on trick plays when he realized he was blowing it again.
  • How 'bout them Gints and Cowgirls? They look like crap, smell like crap and play like crap. Unfortunately, if the Eagles couldn't win this division this year, i think that makes us the corn in the crap...this season and the AR regime cannot come to an end quickly enough. Sincere thanks Andy but best of luck if this is the best we can do against these three.
  • Thank you Shady, Graham, Cox, Kendricks, Henery, Mathis, Avant, Coach Staley.....you give us hope for the future. A completely new coaching staff, a healthy o-line, and some great draft picks around you and this division is ours to win again.
  • The majority is right: AR got exposed as being an OC carrying the HC and front office titles. The decisions he's made for DC (McDermott, Castillo and Bowles?!) and the way in which the defenses have played (like jello) are proof enough for me that he brings nothing to the Defense. A unit, which last time i checked, was sometimes important to winning.
  • Were it not for four players, DJ, Akers, Henery and Colt, Bobby April might be among the worst special teams coaches in football over the last few years. Why do i wince during every opponent kick off return ? Why do i get up for a snack every time the Eagles return anything now that DJ is off special teams ? When is the last time the Eagles blocked a kick? April and Washburn are among the worst coaches the Eagles have ever had. No "good luck" there - just "good riddance". Both of you should take out full page apologies.
  • Nick Foles - only two comments 1) does it seem like the patchwork OL blocked better for him than the starters did for Vick? It is like night and day in terms of "is our QB going to get killed before he can even look to his 2nd progression?" 2) whatever the case, i'm enjoying watching the O a ton more with him than Michael - go figure. Vick one of the best pure athletes but wow, watching what happened when he played got old before the ink was dry on his contract....best of luck to you as well #7
  • I have no idea who will make the conference championships let alone win the Super Bowl. I wouldn't bet on these playoffs with someone else's money.....Could see 7 or 8 different teams winning it all. But I know this, Dallas and Wash have no Giants playoff magic - they will be one and done.
  • Love the Colts story...10-5 in the playoffs and their coach back for final game after fighting cancer...this is a great example of what makes football fun to watch. If they were to beat the Patriots, that would be Hollywood.
Time to wrap presents and wish all my Eagles fans better things in 2013 !
