Brian Westbrook will be Eagles honorary captain

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a pretty miserable two years for Eagles fans as far as the product on the field goes, but one of the really good things the organization has done has been the introduction of a weekly honorary captain. It's given fans a chance to see some of the great players in franchise history and reminisce about some good times passed.

Plus, if we're being honest, Brian Dawkins' retirement ceremony may very well go down as the best and most memorable moment of the year.

This season the Eagles have brought back as captains:

Jeremiah Trotter (Week 2), Ricky Watters (Week 6), Keith Byars (Week 8), Tommy McDonald (Week 10) and Ron Jaworski (Week 15). Brian Dawkins (number retirement), Troy Vincent (Eagles Hall of Fame) and Leo Carlin (Eagles Hall of Fame) were also honored this season.

They'll wrap things up in the final game of the season with another great one, Brian Westbrook. Here's a quick wrap-up of his career from the Eagles official release.

Westbrook played in 107 games for the Eagles after being drafted in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft and holds the franchise record for scrimmage yards (9,785) and ranks third with 68 total touchdowns. A dual threat out of the backfield, he also ranks third in Eagles history with 5,995 rushing yards and with 426 receptions. He led the NFL and set the team’s single-season record with 2,104 scrimmage yards in 2007.

If this season taught us anything, Westbrook's appearance will probably be the most enjoyable moment of the afternoon. Seriously, you might as well leave after the coin toss...
