Before I start this article, just get ready to shed a tear over how much you love Brian Dawkins and how bad you wish he was still an Eagle.
In The Linc this morning, I had linked to an interview with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who was talking about how other teams tell him,
"Y’all guys are talented, but y’all don’t wanna hit nobody."
"Until you fix it, it’s always going to show itself," he said. "Everybody looks at us as a ‘pretty’ defense that don’t wanna be physical. We gotta go out and make a name for ourselves."
On other words, the reputation around the league is that this Eagles defense is soft. 97.5 the Fanatic's Mike Missanelli brought the the comments up with Brian Dawkins today to get his take. Dawkins made it clear that those comments would not be taken lightly.
"If you even hint to me that you talking like I'm soft," Dawkins warned "I would go ahead and tell my wife Connie 'Listen, I'm not saying it's going to happen, but more than likely this week there's going to be a fine or something. I'm just letting you know.' Because that's how pissed off I would be"
"So don't even hint towards that when it comes to playing defense with me or any of the guys I played with. Because we gonna to take that to the football field and there's going to be some questions answered."
But Dawkins also said, it shouldn't take other teams talking trash to get this defense fired up.
"If you're seeing what I'm seeing [on film] you should be pissed off. There should be a fire lit under everybody's behind on that side of the ball after playing the way they did this past week."
