The Philadelphia Eagles have released Jason Babin just one year after giving him a multi-year deal.

The team has confirmed the release. Here is what Andy Reid had to say about the move.

"We appreciate everything that Jason has given this team over the last couple of years. We wish him all the best as he continues his career. By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of younger guys in the defensive line rotation."

Babin has just 5.5 sacks this season and has seen his playing time decrease as the season has gone on. It was expected that he would not be back this season, but the news of the move today comes as a surprise.
