Mock Offseason 2.0

This is more of a dream scenario and what I want to happen than a reality. I agree this is entirely way too early and if I saw somebody do this I'd probably want to tell them they're fucking retarded too. I honestly can not remember a time when I was this disappointed with the Eagles in my entire lifetime as a fan.

First things first, the coaching situation. I have pretty much wanted Reid gone for the last few years. He's a great coach and I love him for all the W's he's put in the win column since he's been here, but enough is enough. I believe most of the coaching staff gets fired, but I'm too lazy to put in the effort to put in safety coaches, OL coaches and what not.

Head Coach - Chip Kelly - Originally I was on the Jon Gruden or Sean Payton kick until last night I read a post by Tommy Lawlor over on Igglesblitz.com that pretty much convinced me I want Chip Kelly more than a high school boy wants to taste a female. He could be a hit or miss, honestly I'm not sure what he brings. I know that watching that Oregon offense and imagining what he could do with the speed we have already would be crazy and exciting. Vick would probably get another year in this scenario. The only assistant coach I would suggest would be to bring in Dawkins as a DB coach.

Offensive Coordinator - Joe Lombardi - Joe Lombardi deserves a promotion, comes from a fantastic offensive background in New Orleans and has been coaching one of the best QBs in the league for a few years now. Think he deserves a shot here.

Defensive Coordinator - Mike Singletary - Notice something that the SF defense and the Vikings LBers have in common? Everyone likes to hit and destroy everyone. Whats the biggest problem with our boys on defense? Stephen A. Smith - "Soft as cottonelle"

Free Agency - I don't think Phi really needs to dive into free agency and go on a huge spending here. I think we may need to grab one or two average to above average names, but nothing 2011 like. Lets go ahead and look at our due to be free agents.

Re-sign - DRC, Akeem Jordan, Jon Dorenbos, King Dunlap, Colt Anderson (RFA)

Don't Re-sign - Daryl Tapp, Derek Landri, Mardy Gilyard, Matt Tennant, Jake Scott

Release - Disastrous Bell, Jamar Chaney, Jason Babin (can't trade), Dion Lewis

Restructure Contracts - Nnamdi Asomugha - Not at all worth the big contract he signed. Has obviously lost a step, or two.

Free Agent Additions -

Dashon Goldson - FS - Nate Allen is a constant injury concern and unreliable tackling. Goldson won't be back in SF next year, instant upgrade.

Greg Jennings - WR - I don't think he'll return to GB, and with the "injury prone" tag falling on him I think we may be able to get him for a reasonable price. If he demands anything nuts or around the size of Desean Jacksons contract then forget it and settle for Chaz Schillens. Very reliable WR for a young QB.

Chase Daniel - QB - Joe Lombardi being the former coach of Chase Daniel in NO may want to bring him in and compete with Nick Foles and Trent Edwards.

Maybe a vet OL or two for training camp competition.

Trades - I'm pretty realistic about trading players, I don't think we can get a 2nd round pick for Babin like I've seen and some other crazy shit, but we will need to move some of these guys, especially since we are hitting a rebuild mode.

Jeremy Maclin - Not going to take a guess at who we trade him with, but I think we should be able to get at least a 3rd for the injury prone receiver.

1st Round Pick - Bam! I believe we'll give Vick/Foles at least one year. This is more to the fact that I don't see much from this draft class aside from Geno Smith. If Tyler Bray decides to come out early, then I'd much rather have him over Matt Barkley and use him with our pick, but I think Bray stays another season to aim for number 1 overall. So I see the Cardinals, in dire need of a QB, giving up their first and second pick to jump from mid round to ours for Tyler Wilson.

THE NFL DRAFT - This is where I actually know what I'm talking about for the most part. I watch a lot of college football and re-watch games that have players I "like" as possibilities for the Eagles, and watch whatever "tape" I can find on youtube and where ever as well. No, I don't really consider that tape of players, but most of you call it as such. Now, as we stand we are looking at pick number 6, so I will mock us as such.

Round 1 (from ARI) - Tyler Eifert - TE - Notre Dame - Yup, there's your curveball, I garuntee none of you saw this coming. Celek has been a massive disappointment this year. Let him fight off Clay Harbor for the number 2 TE spot. Tyler Eifert is a very talented catching TE and has solid blocking skills as well. I know most of you will hate this pick, but I don't care.

Round 2 - Eric Reid - SS - LSU - Think there is a good chance Reid falls to the early second round. I had him as a top 15 pick before the year started. Not having the best year, and other prospects like Matt Elam, Kenny Vaccaro, and AJ Jefferson are going up boards pretty quickly. Eagles benefit greatly.

Round 2 - Ricky Wagner - OT - Wisconsin - We need to move Todd back to OG, replace Watkins as starter. Wagner would be a more than capable starting RT from day 1.

Round 3 - Blaize Foltz - OG - TCU - Depth. Can not go back to signing players like Jake Scott mid-season in case of injuries.

Round 3 (from Maclin Trade) - Marcus Davis - WR - VT - Here's your red zone offense. 6'4, good not great speed, very explosive. Here's the key though, uses his height to catch the ball at the highest point.. not his body like Cooper. If he had a better QB he'd be having a much better senior season.

Round 4 - Sio Moore - OLB - UCONN - Mychal Kendricks looks to be fantastic and Demeco Ryans is a monster. Lets get a sleeper Weakside Linebacker now. Akeem Jordon is a fantastic special teamer, but a serviceable starter. Good for injuries for a week or two, but not year long. Sio Moore is an absolute play maker, all over the field. He'll be talked about more closer to the draft I garuntee it.

Round 5 - Leon McFadden - CB - SD State - I have us keeping Nnamdi and DRC, so this is just for depth purposes. McFadden has shown to be a very solid shut down corner and good special teamer. Replaces Hughes after training camp.

Round 7 - Sam Schwartzstein - C - Stanford - Because I vote no to Dallas Reynolds

Round 7 (from colts)- Montori Hughes - DT - Tennessee-Martin - small school prospect that may end up moving up boards just because of how good of a season he's having. Could be a huge sleeper pick if he does last, kind of like Bryce Brown.

Quick explanation on why I DO NOT have Mike Vick being cut or traded. I don't believe he's been the problem on this team, yes, he hasn't necessarily helped his cause by being injured and his first half of the season turn overs. I think if Chip Kelly did come here though, he'd want to run a spread type offense here as well, this would require a QB with some physical skills and may intrigue Kelly. One more year of Vick is in hand. Probably do another one of these once college football is done. My individual rankings of college players change in week, and my team needs to as well it seems. Last mock I didn't even really see TE as a need, now its my number 1 pick.
