Around The NFL: RG3 Concussed, Injured Cassel Booed

We take a look at what else happened around the NFL on Sunday

This weekend in the NFL saw a pair of starting QBs in the NFL concussed and knocked out of games. Both are likely facing at least couple weeks on the shelf. The first and most relevant to Eagles fans is Robert Griffin III, who was knocked out a game against the Falcons and didn't even know what quarter it was.

"At that time when he wasn't really sure what the score was, what quarter it was, we knew he had a mild concussion, at least according to the doctors," Redskins head coach Shanahan said. "He feels good right now-a lot better right now. But that was the situation, why he didn't go back into the game."

Here's the hit if you haven't seen it.

As an Eagles fan, its one of the runs and hits that we fear Michael Vick will take. So far this season he seems to ahve been a bit smarter about that. The rookie Griffin will hopefully learn a lesson here. On a side note, the NFL will actually look into the Redskins initial report that Griffin was just "shaken up."

Griffin says he expects to play next week, but that's not really his choice. He'll have to go through the NFL's concussion protocol and pass every test throughout the week. Question is, if your franchise QB is hit so hard in the head that he doesn't know what quarter it is or the score of the game, do you want him back the next week even if he gets cleared?

The other notable injury came to Chiefs' QB Matt Cassel, who was knocked out of their game against the Ravens with a concussion. Although the big story from that was not the injury, but rather the Chiefs fans reaction to it. Some, including guard Eric Winston thought they were cheering the injury as it would have gotten the awful Cassel out of the game. He wasn't happy with the reaction.

"When you cheer somebody getting knocked out, I don't care who it is, and it just so happened to be Matt Cassel -- it's sickening. It's 100 percent sickening," Winston said after the game. "I've been in some rough times on some rough teams, I've never been more embarrassed in my life to play football than in that moment right there."

Winston actually said quite a bit more that you can read on Arrowhead Pride.
