I'm new to this board, only thing I'm known for is my crazy sig. If you were ever on the ESPN Boards, you might know me as Potato or the guy with KT as the profile pic.
Anyway, to the story. It was a pretty boring day in May of 2010 or something. Only thing in the news was McNabb. When will he be traded, to who, for what? So, as I said, I'm a frequent poster on the ESPN boards. So, there were a million different threads each week, Mcnabb to Minnesota, Mcnabb to Buffalo, McNabb to San Fran. So I decided to read into the guys thread about him being traded to San Fran and decided to play a little trick on him.
At the time, I was into source codes for websites because I played Fantasy Football on ESPN and you gotta know that stuff to make league pages. I got pretty good at it and noticed I could just copy the source codes and edit actual webpages. So I copied ESPN's web sourcing, made my own article, and pasted it onto my site. I replied to the post "holy shit, it's true" and pasted a hypelink to my site, but it looked exactly like ESPN. All you had to do was look at the link and you'd realize it isn't real, but it fooled some people.
Notice the millions of errors haha, well, it's really hard typing into those codes, and spelling wasn't really on my mind, just wanted to post something quick on the thread.
So time go by, all of a sudden some poster posts something like "Potato, they are talking about your article on Mike Miss." I kind of laughed, but little did I expect every national media outlet picked up on the story...including this one!
I love how they all were mocking my spelling haha! Truth was It was never meant to be a hoax, I was just messing with the guy on the forum.
Feel bad for Michael Smith haha, he had to apoligize on twitter about the article.
Anyway, thought I'd share. Keep ya heads up, 8 of the next 9 games we play are under .500. Stay safe for that storm as well.
