I really love doing this. Fast forward.....Eagles end 2012 at 8-8 again, and miss the playoffs. As the corporate world puts it, a "tough decision" is made at the head coaching position. My mind wanders....
Wouldn't this look eerily similar to the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs? A team that for several years had one of the best and classiest coaches in football who put together a very solid team, but couldn't get over the hump to win it all. And eventually, in what is a very bottom line oriented business (like all businesses), he is fired.
And then Jon Gruden walks in the door. The man with the evil faces takes a team that already had a well built nucleus and is able to fine tune them just enough to win the Super Bowl in his first year. And in my opinion, he can do it again. And Philadelphia might be his perfect place for a coaching rebirth.
And even though we don't know who our starting quarterback will be next year, it needs to be put out there that, even in light of the fact that he had a top defense, this man did win a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson.
Its a little crazy...but not so crazy.
