Eagles fully healthy heading into matchup with Lions

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Eagles should get a boost to their special teams with the return of Akeem Jordan and the debut of Jason Williams.

The Eagles will have their full team available this Sunday when they host the Detroit Lions at Lincoln Financial Field. Jeremy Maclin was not even listed on today's injury report, Colt Anderson's knee held up fine after Sunday and Akeem Jordan will make his return after 2 weeks on the shelf.

"[Akeem Jordan] is healthy and he's ready to go.," Andy Reid said. "He'll practice today and he'll be the starting at the WILL linebacker spot. We'll see how he does, but it looks like he's ready to go."

Jordan will also presumably return to his role on special teams, where he's been arguably the teams' most productive player in recent seasons.

The team also added LB Jason Williams to help out in the department, but Reid says they'll need more than just him to correct the problems.

"Not only do we need to do a better job coaching, we need to do a better job playing. I'm going to try and bring in guys - until we get it right - that can impact you on special teams. We'll give this kid an opportunity and see how he does."

Williams says he plans on being in on all phases of special teams.

"I'm going to be starting on all four phases. Pretty much I'm going to maintain the same role I had on past teams. I'm a special teams guy. That's what I love doing so I'm ready to help that unit."

The 4th year LB says he didn't really take to being a special teamer at first.

"Honestly, I didn't buy into special teams until I got to Carolina. When I was in Dallas I was a stubborn, hard-headed rookie. After they released me it was kind of a learning experience [and] it humbled me a lot. It made me grow up a lot more so when I got to Carolina I embraced the role completely and that was my thing when I was in Carolina."

Williams certainly has his work cut out for him. As we saw with Adrian Moten, the job of a special teamer is never secure and there's always someone else out there with experience that the team could try out.
