LeSean McCoy Named One Of The Best Values In The NFL

ARLINGTON, TX - DECEMBER 24: LeSean McCoy #25 of the Philadelphia Eagles runs the ball against Kenyon Coleman #99 of the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium on December 24, 2011 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

ESPN put together their team of the best value players in the NFL. Basically the guys who are producing at a level far beyond what they're being paid. The Eagles got one guy on the list and it should come no surprise who it is... LeSean McCoy.

Philly got 1,309 rushing yards, 315 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns (more than the St. Louis Rams as a team) out of McCoy, whose $822K cap number was less than a quarter of Vince Young's. Shady indeed. Between McCoy and DeSean Jackson, Philly has big decisions on the horizon.

DeSean Jackson was also a good value at $600K this year, but not nearly as much as Victor Cruz ($405K) or Mike Wallace ($663K) were.

He scored more touchdowns than the entire Rams team? Thats amazing.

Let the beasting begin.

Jackson

Cruz and Wallace are making less or about the same amount……and they still performed. Cruz because he got a chance, but Wallace just keeps doing what he does and I don’t hear much about him being an issue at all. I could be wrong.

Too bad Jackson just wouldn’t play ball all year, we probably would have made the playoffs if he cared at all about the team.

You make it sound like Jackson had a terrible season?

by Anders Jensen on Jan 5, 2012 4:08 PM EST up reply actions

The stats dont show all the drops he had, or how he didnt run his routes and look for the ball,

but you cant possibly think that he had a good season!?!?

Jackson had a decent season

I’m not saying he didn’t, I think he still ended with close to 1000 yards. But I don’t rank a season for a WR on yards. He’s virtually no threat in the RZ, but that not really something he can help he’s tiny.

To me he could have had a much better season if he didn’t dog it half the time. He said the contract wouldn’t bother him, but he clearly was lying because it did bother him. He’s terrible at catching the ball, and his route running is awful as well. He’s a threat from anywhere on the field, but as a WR he has a long way to go to get top money.

You know that one of Jackson strength is his route running? Been fast isnt enough to get so wide open as he does or alot of wrs would have succes

by Anders Jensen on Jan 5, 2012 6:00 PM EST up reply actions

Really his route running you think is a strength?

It may have become better since college but it’s still not good. Watch Maclin and Avant run a route, then watch Jackson it’s night and day difference.

That is one of the reason’s he’s always running deep routes, because they are easier to do. We rarely ever see him do anything inside or a quick route. And if he does he alligator arms the ball.

rosenhaus is just such a bad influence

and he also still represents shady. hopefully shady’ll handle it better than jackson

Even Matt Millen knows to pay Shady. You don’t want to be dumber than Millen, do you?
Now, pay the man.

AR should have to wear a Flava Flav necklace until he learns how to manage a clock.

That was intended more as a compliment for Shady than an indictment of the FO.

I gotcha. I don’t really see his contract as a problem. He’s not old, which might scare you off a long term deal for a RB. He had his best year ever, unlike DeSean. I’m sure they’ll get something done this offseason.

Depend on what kinda of money, but the differences is that Shady is a top 5 RB, where Jackson wasnt and isnt a top 5 receiver.

by Anders Jensen on Jan 5, 2012 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

just resign them both so we can focus on other things

do we

Have to wait to the new league year to make coaching changes and aquisitions?

by sandiegoeaglesfan on Jan 5, 2012 5:36 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I do not think so. You can fire people before the league year ends and I remember coaches being hired in years passed within days of their teams being bumped out of the playoffs. I think Leslie Frazier was named HC (rthe “interim” was removed) shortly after the season ended.

Rooney Rule

Teams do still need to adhere to the Rooney Rule when interviewing HC candidates. I am not sure if this applies to other coaching positions.

The “league year” applies to things regarding the CBA, which has non bearing on coaches.
