Fire'em all. Andy, Howie, all of them. Juan is still DC? Spags slipped through our fingers? Todd Bowles is our Secondary Coach rather than our DC? Juan needs to get fired, rehired, then fired again just to satisfy my bloodlust. This is ridiculous. He strung together 4 decently good defensives games against piss poor talent and that saved his job after we collapsed in the 4th quarter 5 times this season? Andy Reid needs to nut the fuck up and start doing what's best for the organization rather than what's best for the individuals he has responsibility over. If you can't take Juan's nutsack out of your mouth for one season to have the courage to fire him, then "promote" him to assistant of the defensive assistant or defensive cock ring of cocks IDC. He just cannot be our DC anymore. we have far too much talent and absolutely no fire in our Defense because we have Banjo Kazooie running it.

It’s the fact that after all this speculation of getting a new DC, we plan to retain Juan Castillo. After all the hype we had going into this season, we finished a dismal 8-8 and our defense was a huge part of it. Turnovers yes, poor execution on offense yes, but mainly and offensive line coach turned DC overnight was the reason our defense was working under a scheme that obviously didn’t work. Yes, this is the straw that broke my back because yet again, Andy Reid cannot do the “wrong” thing is always has to do the “right” thing. If he likes his job and he REALLLLLYYYYY wants to win, he would’ve found the best candidate for the DC job and got us back on track to win it all. but now we are yet again under the Juan Castillo experiment one more time. Because Andy Reid likes to preach the importance of “continuity”

Head coach and front office continuity matter a lot more than the DC/OC in the NFL. It also helps the Pats have a franchise QB who is one of the best 3-4 QBs in the NFL every year too.

Continuity is so important. I feel like people aren’t grasping this. If we couldve signed Del Rio or Spags thats fine, if not no reason to change things up again for a small upgrade.
As for Bowles, clearly Castillo gets one more year and if he fucks up again Bowles is the guy. Its not a bad plan.

The only speculation about gettting a new DC was from the fans. Never once did Andy or the Eagles ever even suggest they were looking to replace Juan. Not in their words or their actions. The Eagles are THE most secretive team in the NFL, so like it or not, you have to go with what the Eagles do.

I have been the biggest Reid supporter for many years i wouldn’t be calling for his head if he’d find a guy fit for the job that can get us where we should be and that’s not at 8-8. But if you’re fine with a guy that the players behind closed doors didn’t even support the playcalling then by all means, be your snide self.
You have no idea what went on behind closed doors; none of us do. Hence the “closed” part of that. If the players, fans, and FO wanted him gone, they would have gone over Andy’s head on this one. There’s a reason we’re keeping him, and that’s because the FO wanted to, not Reid. This defense improved as the season went on. You can blame strength of schedule if you want, but if you take an objective look at the first and second half of our schedule, the first half was weaker.

I hate Internet bullies and that is what this group of minions you ran into are. If you say one thing they do not like they will harrass you right off of the site. BGN used to be better policed, and a friendlier place,but I have been on here for years and you cannot expect things to stay the same.
So watch out for AnthroEagle. If he doesn’t like your post he will attack you like you are the anti-Christ. His minion buddies are BIBTD, or ChillyPhilly, Clint Eastwood, and often Udalango (which is a shame because Udalango used to be a nice guy and knows more about football than the other minions.) I know I left one or two minions out, but they really aren’t worth menioning and you’ll see them if you hang around here very long. They are on all the time, and they all back each other up no matter how ridiculous the argument. They seem to be scaring away the newbies too. as it just doesn’t feel like a safe place to post your opinion anymore. They will ‘O’

we lost to the cards when vick threw for a hair over 100 yards on the day. That was the defense’s fault? Fitz made one of the greatest catches of the season in that game. I realize the touchdown where there was a LB lined up on him was terrible, but how can you blame the defense for giving up 21 points when the Eagles offense averaged 25 points a game and 399 yards of offense? This defense also held down the offense going to the Superbowl representing the NFC, only giving up 10 points, and Young was our QB.

They could care less what fans think and even the players to a degree. The reason he is here is because the guy they really wanted (Spags) didn’t choose them. That’s why Castillo is back.

and if it’s not ideal then it is at the very least fine. The players publicly supported Juan and there was no secret backtalk to the media like in the case of the Jets. If he was completely clueless, ya better believe we would have heard something even if only on the sly.
You can’t constantly turn over your coaching staff and expect success. Juan is to this point a better DC then McDermott because Juan’s defense overall made strides from beginning to end. Yes there were hiccupps. Large amount of personel turnover coupled with a new DC will do that to just about any team but by all accounts we seem to be moving forward.
Let’s see how this year goes and if it is more of the same then by all means you point me to the front line and I’ll take up arms beside you, but for now I am gonna trust the organization to do the right thing.

Everyone here that hates Andy Reid and believes Juan should have been a decision that got him fired should be rejoicing. Based on your opinions (that both Reid and Juan suck balls) this decision will kill the team in 2012… which will likely lead to Reid being fired. He wasn’t going away this year and if he made a smart DC decision (in your opinions) than he would likely stay on as coach as the team would certainly improve. So you should be dancing in the streets. Right?

We didn’t go after Spags. Reid said he “offered him a job” but there was no indication of what position that would be or that there was an interview. In fact, didn’t Reid say that the plan all along was to keep Juan? Pressers aren’t worth much anyway, but I certainly didn’t get the “we pushed hard for Spags” vibe.
