2012 Off-Season Mock
I haven't made a post in almost 3 months and I'm going to start making more now since my football season more. I'm going to start with a Off-Season Mock.
Player Movements
Cuts: Vince Young, Ronnie Brown, Juqua Parker, Steve Smith, Trevor Laws, Clay Harbor, Winston Justice.
- These guys deserve to get cut they did not contribute at all. Trevor Laws contributed but not as much as Derek Landri who came in at Mid Season and we can only keep one so i picked Derek.
Re-Signed: Evan Mathis, Antonio Dixon, Derek Landri, King Dunlap, Akeem Jordan.
- They deserve to get resigned they have done everything they were told to do. Antonio Dixon didn't play this season but the year before he did a really good job he stopped the run alot.
Signed: D'Qwell Jackson, Dashon Goldson
- Both of these free agents are under the radar guys but they are really good. D'Qwell Jackson can tackle he had the 2nd most tackle this season. Dashon Goldson is the most underrated free agent this year in my opinion he almost had 2 interception in the NFC Championship Game but he ran into his teammates and knocked one of them out by accident.
Trades:
Desean Jackson, 4th round pick to 49ers for 1st round pick (30th), 2nd round pick (62nd)
Jamal Jackson to Denver for a 4th round pick
Asante Samuel to Minnesota for a 3rd round pick
Coaching Change:
I read reports earlier that he might become the new defensive coordinator. I will like this decision because when he was the DB Coach for Miami Dolphins those DB's were monsters. We would put Juan Castillo as a Assistant job or something like that.
Draft:
1st Round, 15th Overall pick: Michael Floyd WR, Notre Dame (6'3, 224, 4.54 40 Yard Time) - Michael Floyd had a terrific season with 1147 yards and 9 TD Catches. With Desean probably gone i would go after a younger and more talented Wide Receiver. This is the type of receiver we needed for years a big and strong guy that will go up and catch it in the End Zone and he has pretty good speed for his size.
via a.espncdn.com
1st Round Pick (30th overall, from San Fransisco) Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama (6'4, 250, 4.68 40 Yard Time): Dont'a Hightower is the second best linebacker in this draft but people think otherwise. He is a physical also he can tackle just what we need. He is a former 1st team SEC and 1st team All-American and will fit in a 4-3 perfectly.
2nd Round, 46th Overall Pick: Stephon Gilmore CB S.Carolina(6'1, 193, 4.48 40 Yard Time):
He is versatile he can rush the passer, he is also effective in the zone and man. He has good strength for his size he can jam the receiver in press and good tackler. He can also read the offense and great awareness. With Asante mostly gone we will probably be thin in the CB position so it will be a good pick up and he can learn from Nnamdi.
2nd Round Pick( 51st, from Cardinals) Vinny Curry DE Marshall(6'4, 265, 4.74 40 Yard Time):
Recognizes blocking schemes. Very productive, applies consistent pressure on QB. He closes quickly when he gets a chance at the QB. He has a good motor also he doesn't quit on plays. We need a DE because jason Babin and Trent cole are getting up their in age so we need to bring in some young blood.
2nd Round Pick(62nd, from San Fransisco) Joe Adams WR/KR Arkansas(5'11, 190, 4.38 40 Yard Time):
This guy is super fast not Desean fast but pretty close to it. He return punts and kicks really good. He also has good hands he rarely drops passes and really good in change of direction which helps him escape defenders.
3rd Round Pick(67th, from Minnesota) Jared Crick DT/DE Nebraska(6'6, 285, 4.82 40 Yard Time):
Great interior pass rusher and very versatile can play either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense. A solid run defender and has a blue-collar work ethic. He reminds me of Derek Landri. He also is quick of the ball and great upper body strength.
via isportsweb.com
3rd Round, 77th Overall Pick: Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State(6'3, 205, 4.80 40 Yard Time):
He's poise in the pocket and good awareness in the pocket. He has good accuaracy and zip on the ball. He gets rid of the ball real fast. Also is athletic and good mobility.

4th Round Pick(100th from Tampa Bay) Keenan Robinson LB Texas( 6'3,240, 4.68 40 Yard Time):
Good sideline to sideline speed. Really good in coverage and wraps up tackles very well. Could cover RB's and a good blitzer. Could really hit a guy, but he can't shed blocks that well but he can learn that very easily.
4th Round, 115th Overall Pick: Mitchell Shwartz OL Cal University(6'6, 318, 5.35 40 Yard Time):
He moves his feet good, Intelligent and has alot of power and strength. If we do sign back Evan Mathis which i think we will, Shwartz will be a pretty young good back up.
via rantsports.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com
4th Round Pick(121st, from Denver)Markus Zusevics OL Iowa University( 6'5, 300,5.08 40 Yard Time):
He is a good competitor and finishes his blocks. He has good lateral speed and would be great in Howard Mudds blocking scheme. Quick of the snap and will be good back up behind Todd Herremans and can probably take his spot in the future.
5th Round Pick, 143rd Overall Pick: Chris Rainey RB Florida(5'9, 174, 4.24 40 Yard Time):
He can be our 3rd string RB which has alot of speed. He is good on Special Teams also, he had 6 punt blocks in his college career and a very dangerous return man. We need a speedster in the backfield, Lesean McCoy and Dion Lewis have speed but not as much speed as Chris Rainey.
6th Round Pick, 175th Overall Pick: Blake Gideon FS Texas(6'1, 205, 4.64 40 Yard Time):
He has decent speed for a Safety, He plays with instinct and can lay down a big hit once in awhile.
6th Round Pick(186st, from Denver) Josh Ogelsby OT Wisconsin(6'7, 330, 5.42 40 Yard Time):
He's a natural physical Lineman. He has the size, length and natural power to work his legs through contacts.
6th Round Pick(190th, from New England) Brandon Barden TE Vanderbilt(6'5, 256, 4.68 40 Yard Time):
Brandon Bardon will be a good back up to Brent Celek. He has good route running and decent blocking. He will be a steal if we get him in this round.

Looks almost exactly like Avant-Garde's
And these…
Desean Jackson, 4th round pick to 49ers for 1st round pick (30th), 2nd round pick (62nd)
Jamal Jackson to Denver for a 4th round pick
Seem unrealistic. Jamaal might get a fourth, but I’m thinking closer to 6th considering he hasn’t really played since blowing out his knee. DeSean and a 4th might get us a first or a second, but certainly not both.
I also don’t think the 49ers will let Goldson walk, they’ll want to keep that awesome defensive interior together. They made the CBs look much better than they were.
All-in-all its pretty good, with these issues (at least IMO) aside.

Agreed on the trades. I think a 2nd is much more likely than a first.

OK, a few things.
1. DeSean Jackson isn’t going anywhere unless his numbers are insanely unrealistic. Jamaal will likely be cut but at most we’d get a 5th or 6th for him. The Asante trade seems reasonable actually.
2. I’d rather go with Wright from Baylor, the dude has stud written all over him. Hightower is overrated, I’d rather see us take Wright then use the firepower we have to trade back up and snag one of the better LB’s.
It’s a pretty good mock though, good time killer.
Defensive player of the year for 2011 is...
Wild_Eagle!
Yes, Wild_Eagle's infamous reputation did help him get this award. But he shows that he walks the talk that he serves...with his keyboard. Wild_Eagle protects the motherland (BGN) from the evils of noobs, douche-bags, and other assholes. Although he may be crude and unnecessary, all great defenders draws the yellow flag from time to time.

I feel like it’s a bit unrealistic but I mostly like it all except for the Dont’a Hightower pick, but then again I really have no idea about any of the first round quality LB’s in this years draft but I do like Audie Cole, he’s a great pick in the later rounds. Also I would like to see Russell Wilson wearing an Eagles Jersey next year, he would be great to learn under Mike Vick and I think he would and could eventually take over, regardless of his height, I think he’s a good QB. I like Kirk just Wilson a bit better in arm strength and pure athleticism. Also if we let Clay Harbor go we are going to have to address TE earlier in the draft.
I agree with most of what you said actually...
But I don’t think we’ll pass on a LB this year.

I agree with you with Kendall Wright he is a stud but he is not that big, tall, strong receiver that the eagles need He’s only 5’10

Yes but he plays like Steve Smith.

I especially like your coaching change..That guy got screwed by Miami..
Just like Welker and Ginn Jr..Miami gives away talent..

wr instead of cb in the 2
More talented wr than corners in the 2nd I would select Sanu the boy is a beast we need more depth at wide receiver if floyd or Maclin gets hurt who is going to step up????
Pretty good but......
I like the picks but don’t think Kirk Cousins is worth a 3rd rounder at all.

Not because they are both white
But Blake Gideon is the second coming of Sean Considine. I’m not sure what games you were watching of his but don’t let the fact that he played at UT fool you. I wouldn’t waste a draft pick on hin. Bring him into camp and let him compete, sure.

Steve Smith tried to come back too early from his knee surgery..
The Giants doctors and training staff were livid about him thinking he could play…So if he didn’t wreck his career, you guys might want to re-think his value…Everything of course will be revealed in training camp..I didn’t expect to see him on the field at all this year.

Nice write-up
I’d really like Todd Bowles to come here, it sounds like he will but I’ll keep my hopes low because I don’t want to get “Spags’d” again. As Anthro mentioned, the DeSean and Jamal trades seem unrealistic. A 2nd rounder from San Fran and a 6th from Denver seems more likely. I also think it’s too early to cut Clay Harbour. He’s barely on the field so he doesn’t get a chance to do much but I think he has potential.
I really like your draft. I’m not familiar with a lot of the guys in the late rounds but I love your 1-4 picks as well as Rainey. I’m still not sold on Dont’a Hightower as a 4-3 linebacker but I love him as a prospect in general. Were you drafting him as a SAM since you have us signing D’Qwell? If we could get Curry at the spot you have listed that would be a steal but his stock has shot-up after the senior bowl and I don’t know if he’ll be there for us with even our first 2nd round pick. I like the Adams and Crick picks a lot, great fits for our system. Overall very nice job.

Bowles is a well respected coach..Not a bad consideration at all...
"When I was a boy and I had no sense..I got my pecker caught in an electric fence..Well it curled my hair, tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls..."
Haha, I like the formatting!
Overall, a very good mock, good effort.
I think if Bowles is joining the Eagles, it’s as a DB coach, not a DC. He ran a 3-4 in Miami, so as a DC here he’d either be out of his element coaching a front 7 he’s not used to, or we’d have to undergo a significant overall to play the 3-4.
Kirk Cousins looks to me like a Mike Kafka clone – 6’3 Big 10 QB with good accuracy, average arm strength, and some mobility. Like Kafka, I don’t think he has starter potential, and will likely end up as a career backup. I’d rather gamble on Wilson late, since I think he has definite starter potential if he’s put in the right place early in his career.
I'll give you a cookie if you know what my pic is from.
Nice coaching change. I don t think DeSean is going anywhere he brings a lot to our offense (when he is on his game) but if we did move him this would be a draft. Like the Hightower pick but Kirk Cousins is not worth a third but all in all good write up

Keep DeSean and Don’t draft Floyd use the 3rd round pick on a wideout like Dwight Jones and draft Luke Kuechly with the 15th and draft Barron with the 30 cause Nate Allen is just bad and Kurt Coleman is ok but Barron and Jarrett would be just mean safeties
a kinda agree of what you said but im not a big fan of luke kuechly.

Hahahahaha, DeSean Jackson isn’t even CLOSE to being worth that much. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. And neither is Jamaal Jackson. Good lord these are all so unrealistic.
Oh and I’m probably faster than Blake Gideon, that guy is A-W-F-U-L, don’t be surprised when he isn’t even invited to a camp.
And I will eat my sock if Stephon Gilmore and Keenan Robinson are available when we pick in the 2nd and 4th rounds.
Why are all of these so bad?
