First topic
so I’ve came across several Fat acceptance blog. I didn’t really know much about them before hand. First, I thought it was like self-acceptance of one self which I see no problem with it. Problem is, it isn’t like that. Many of them get pissed if you try to understand their motives.
So here our my questions:
1. Thoughts on Fat Acceptance?
2. Why is fat demonized especially when you need fat to survive?
3. What is the purpose of an ideal weight/size?

1) Stupid. People should worry about accepting themselves, who cares about what anyone else thinks? Plus, chubby-chasers are well documented by this point, no need to prove to yourself that they’re out there.
2) You need some fat to survive, too much and you’re at considerable health risk. That’s why (some) people demonize it. Being obese is unattractive to a lot of people for deeper reasons than simply “ugliness” — it suggests possible health problems. I don’t have a problem with people who are over weight, but if my loved ones became obese I’d want them to get healthy.
3) Again, health. Some fat is necessary, but not a ton of it. I’m a pretty thin guy, and technically I’m over weight.
Some people simply can’t help it, and I don’t judge people for being overweight. I just can’t be attracted to people who are overweight. It’s not a judgment on them, its the same reason I don’t find red-heads attractive. I just don’t.
I realize this comment might look judgmental, but I’m not trying to be. I don’t have a problem with people being overweight, and I totally understand that its out of peoples’ hands sometimes. But when possible, I think people should invest in their health and try to maintain a healthy weight.

Possible rebuttal?
1. People considered chubby-chasers as a fetish. Easily said then done. We are all emotional animals and thrive when we are apart of a community. Without a community or/and self-acceptance, we are playing with depression, mental ill tags
Plus it feels good to feel accepted. Even though it leads an empty feeling trying to follow the pack.
2.) Being super skinny is unattractive too. Plus half those diets don’t work. Getting healthy is hard especially if you aren’t equip with the right tools. I’ve done about 8 years of research in exercise and nutrition. I know what to do and willing to adapt my goals. Some people listen to Dr. Phil or Dr. Oz who are quacks and think they can easily change themselves. Health is an umbrella term. I considered someone healthy if they are in good standing mentally, physically, emotionally and socially. Sadly, many of us are not. Even myself ( socially).
3. BMI is a poor way to determined health. Anyone who lifts weight can tell you that. Hey, I’m not saying you have to be attractive to them. I’m not attracted to most blondes. Brunettes all the way. Yes, some people can’t help being “overweight” but it doesn’t mean they aren’t healthy. They are plenty of thin people who eat like shit though.
Obesity also includes poor self-image. They kind of reinforce each other. Girl think she is ugly and can’t get a boyfriend so she finds something to fulfill her. She eats like shit because she wants to be happy. Or a person can’t afford healthy food or doesn’t know how to cook and shop. It isn’t a cookie cutter issue.

And I agree with all of that. I don’t think this is a cut and dry issue. Personally, I’m not attracted to obese for very skinny girls. But I’ve been attracted to skinnier girls and fuller-figured girls over the years, because the personality trumps everything else. But for the most part, I think people who are overweight and can do something about it, should.

Thoughts
1) If you need other people to accept who you are in order to feel good about yourself, it is a clear indication that you are not satisfied with who you are and you should change. Peer pressure can be a force for good as well as evil.
2) Fat is demonized because love of physical beauty is a vice so common today it is considered a virtue. Please note when I use the terms vice and virtue I mean in the sense that for most of recorded human history an over-obsession with look was considered a vice, though today it pretty clearly isn’t. Anyway, one of the results of this vice is when you consider love of physical beauty a virtue choosing to not be physically beautiful is almost a moral defect. There is a strong moral abhorrance on the part of those who choose beauty over almost anything else when they see others who have chosen a different choice so obviously. Since many of these beauty-obsessed people are extremely influencial, their moral abhorrance has a very large demonizing effect on society as a whole.
3) Other than staying within a reasonable weight/fitness for health, there is no real reason to work out or avoid certain foods. If you can avoid gluttony or sloth, staying reasonably fit is easy, and you can pretty safely forget about the rest.

So, they're having the Republican debate at my school right now.
A bunch of security and T.V. vans everywhere and clueless people walking up to students asking for directions. Then at night there were a bunch of people cheering Ron Paul and then there was that guy who wanted to burn the Koran here with a group of followers holding up signs that said ‘Ban Gay Marriage’ and something about minorities.
I don’t know, it seems like a lot of noise for a race that looks as though is going to come down between a douche and a turd.

I think the year that did it for me was the year The Hurt Locker won every award. It was a good movie, but it wasn’t better than a lot of the films that were nominated (or weren’t). Like you said, it’s all political. I’m actually surprised Bridesmaids got some recognition.

It's a good movie
tells the tale of a few bomb disposal members over in Iraq during the war. The main character is this nutso guy that seems to have a death wish, but it embodies the trials and tribulations people face during such intense moments. That being said, Avatar was the best film that year and shoulda won.

I mean to each his own but No Country for Old Men was dry and broing in my opinion. I watched it through and when it ended I was less then impressed. Juno had a great story as well as entertainment value. Ellen Page was fantastic, her father (J.K. Simmons) played his role great too. For me as much as I like the Coen’s other films, No Country left a lot to be desired.

That story was very poignant for the time (Unobtainium = oil, Pandora = Iraq) and was as much a political statement as a love story. With your substitution theory any rise to power movie can be associated wiith the Lion King or Aladdin or Bambi or… Se what I am getting at here. Fighting Al Qaeda was a clear part of the narrative when they were building up to Iraq, as were WMDs. Saddam being a bad man only came into it after they showed up and there were no WMDs. Meanwhile ignoring all of the other bad men who we didn’t attack. Things were pretty fucked in Darfur around that same time, but we were too busy to stop some genocide, we needed to get Saddam. We also could have plucked Osama out of Pakistan, rather than going into Iraq for bullshit reasons.

I don't like how our country is trying to combat obesity.
I was reading a tumblr blog earlier and once again a person cried about how they can’t lose weight despite eating less and exercising more. Why are people misinformed? Is Dr. Oz or Dr. Phil? I want to tell her how to fix her problem but I don’t want to sound like a dick ( guess being negative and cynical will do that to you)
Anyway, here are some questions for you guys.
1. what is the best way to combat obesity?
2. Will it being via drugs or naturally?
3. How much funding should be dedicated to your project?
4. Would you try to convince big corporations to fixed what they sell, or promote people to avoid them?
5. Will alternative medicine be involved?

I did my research on obesity. Found some weird ass shit...its as much physiological as its psychological.
If people become obese…its almost impossible for them to lose weight after a certain amount of time. What we DID find out (in rats…can’t really experiment with humans)…is that if you start your kid on rigorous exercise while they are growing (like toddlers)…you can activate certain nuclei in the hypothalamus that will make it virtually certain that you do not grow obese regardless of diet or exercise in later life.

That seems to directly say that he’s mentally ill, but people confuse it for mental weakness.

I am associating brain trauma directly with a mental disorder while you are seperating the two. When he refers to unclear if brain trauma is even suffered by Young, I am seeing that as mentall illness not even ascertained because brain trauma is not known. You are seeing brain trauma as one thing but mental illness can be caused by more then just brain trauma. I got ya. That is my bad for confining mental illness to such a small section that I found relevant to the discussion, namely repeated head blows.

Just from reading the comments, proved my point. People do not understand what exactly is mental illness. Mental illness can be caused by poor self thought, chemistry imbalances, concussion and poor health. I said it’s possible especially with the aggressive nature of football. No one knew if Andre Waters was ill until after his death. In the New York Times article, family stated that Waters acted strange for years but totally dismissed it.

but yeah there were a good number of spelling/grammar errors. Overall the content was outstanding but you need to have someone proofread it before you publish your work. A lot of times while self editing, the writer will ‘see’ a word that isn’t there as they know what they are trying to say.

I believe aliens exist, but in what form? (I was also watching Ancient Aliens, as much as I hate it). I definitely believe in microbiological aliens; germs and monocellular organisms and such. I also think it would be ignorant to assume that we’re the only complex and/or “intelligent” life forms out there, or that we’re the most intelligent.
I’m not sure whether they’ve been to Earth or not. They’re not responsible for any of our monuments or any crazy bat-shit stuff that Giorgio Tsoukalos claims, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we did have alien life forms in a laboratory somewhere.

Yes, certain people at KU are rather promiscuous… But about the same rate as any college.
The STD thing is a funny story that I read about a few months ago… apparently, in the early 2000’s, an STD awareness group wanted to advertise awareness in the PA state system schools, so they asked for STD records from the schools. However, they did not make this mandatory. KU just so happened to be the ONLY school to submit records (no names, obviously). Soooooo, when the ads and reports came out later, Kutztown University was all over it. Because they were the only school to send information in. The stigma has followed the school ever since.
In short, play it smart, and you should be fine.

Kutztown is a LOT closer to Pottstown than Bloomsburg or Millersville, and about the same as WCU or Lincoln

Books can be great decoration plus you might want to reread them again. Get a bookshelf and some books viola you make a boring house interesting. Plus you could put certain books as props for as a conversation tool.

But I rarely give homework, and I do all of my planning during my prep period, so I don’t have to bring work home. I set aside 2 hours before I go to sleep (usually 11:30) and read in bed, about 100 pages. This let’s me finish a book every 3-4 days.
I don’t work from June 13 – August 14 so that’s when I get into a book every day or every other day.

Well
We have block scheduling, so I give them so much to do in their 80 minute classes, that I really don’t have to give them anymore to do outside of class. Reading is their only homework because they need to be ready for class discussions/activities.
If I only had 50 minute classes, I would probably have to assign homework more often.

The myth of athleticism. Athleticism is buzz word for a mixture of motor coordination, hand- eye coordination and concentration.
I don’t think athleticism is a myth — I think you just defined it perfectly right there.
Athleticism and racism? I noticed when it’s a black player, people say he is athletic. If it’s a white player, it’s either grit or hard work.
This, although controversial, is probably the best topic. Be very careful with the wording though, that is an explosive subject.

1) Because there’s nothing to indicate that his alligator arms are caused by a lack of hand-eye coordination. It would be like saying dinosaurs died because they prayed to the wrong god and then using as your evidence, “We all know that the dinosaurs are dead.”
2) You could do that, although I personally disagree. People are born with a certain propensity (or lack thereof) for athleticism.
3) Not credibility so much, just lots and lots of criticism, which you’ve got to learn to handle better.

I do have to say that Athleticism is more of an umbrella term for what you said plus more.
I’d consider it:
1. Genetics- Genetically speaking it’s pretty obvious some people are born with “sport bodies” whether it’d be football, basketball etc, two short adults aren’t going to have a 7ft kid in most cases. Also some people have denser muscle fibers, are naturally stronger than those of equal size/weight etc which with definitely help them with their athleticism. I’d also say that there’s more I probably even missed on here.
2. Motor Coordination, hand-eye coordination is often times just something people don’t have and cannot develop…
3. Concentration, I don’t think this has so much to do with it… There are people who can concentrate on the task at hand and those who don’t think at all and both types get the job done.

I figured that would be the sticking point.
I think as a QB, Weeden is a top 15 talent. I think you guys could pull a Kevin Kolb and trade him to a QB hungry team the year after. I also think Mike Kafka sucks and probability says that Vick will be out a couple games next year.
That’s my reasoning for that, I guess.

Kafka does suck but I don’t want another old ass player like Watkins, defeats the purpose of the draft in my opinion. They’ve already probably reached their full potential, might as well just sign a FA

I actually like Kafka. I honestly think he could be everything Kolb was (and hopefully more) for a much lower pick. I’d like to see him come back as our #2 next year.

The sentinels are god damn confusing! I didnt Like any of the rest either Adept died way to fast engineer just was boring. Infiltrator is boring after continuous head shots stops being fun. Vanguard and soldier are right in the thick of things

Nope. Didn't even bother. Have done 3 playthroughs of each.
Two as continuations of my canon Shep. One as a lets just fuck around and see what happens Shep. 2 Soldiers, 1 vanguard. I might get in a new playthrough before ME3 hits….and I think I might try out Infiltrator.
You couldn’t even pay me to get through an entire game as a Sentinel. Who the fuck ever wants to be a support player in a one player game where you are the leader? That doesn’t even make sense! you know what pissed me off about ME1 going into ME2. I went through so much pain acquiring the Colossus armor in ME1 thinking that it was going to carry over into ME2….nope. Armor was not much more than an aesthetic. I want them to go back to a different armor = different ability/level for ME3.

Murray has thoroughly outperformed my expectations of him. Thoroughly. But I don’t think he can keep it up, durability was a big issue with him at Oklahoma, he wore down, he stopped running as hard, he got hurt and he just drops off. If you keep him fresh, he’ll be a real good player but if the Cowboys feed him the ball 20+ times a game consistently with his running style he’ll break down.
In the 4 games after that troll posted that he averaged 3.4 yards per carry and then he broke his ankle.
