Lets be real 4 a sec. EAGLES FANS

First of all im not a inspiring writer or wannabe analyst (so if there's grammer errors who cares). Im just a die hard eagle fan tired of hearing about what we should do this year.

First of all DESEAN ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE. The media flipped it like he wants Larry Cash. Desean ain't crazy he knows damn well he isn't about to be paid that kinda money. they will franchise him and during the season agree on around 8 million a year about four years with incentatives based on proformance. He is Vick's favorite target and every play he pulls the safeties back opening up screen plays and helps Celek look good.

On a sad note, Asante is my favorite eagle but looks like the homie is gone. Even though he was the most consistant corner we had. YEA I SAID IT. Yea Fitzgerald knew he would try in jump the route in that Arizona game and killed him with a double move other then that Samuel played great. Thing about Asante is he is a game changer, a play-maker. He and Quintin Mikell had a connection from playing together so long. Mikell would know when Samuel going to jump a route and would be their to make the play overtop if asante missplayed the ball. He couldn't jump as many with Coleman playing behind him so losing Mikell caused his pick total to drop.

Now to the linebacker situation. We will not draft Kuechly and I think its the right decison. We dont need a 237 pound 4.8 running rookie running the D behind the wide nine. Not saying he's not a good player, he will probably be the next James Larinitus. But their are better players at 15 that we make a bigger impact. We need a Proven Vet at Mike, Stephen Tulloch( playing behind wide nine his whole pro career) Curtis Lofton and D'well Jackson are all FAs. We need to feel this void in FA. And pray Coples or Stills drops and draft one of them immediately. Then there's still a chance to get Vontaze Burfict in the second round. Picture a Jim Washburn rotation with Trent Cole, Jason Babin, a healthly Brandon Graham, Cullen Jenkins and Coples. Quaterbacks would piss their pants. And I really like this Keenan Robinson kid at SAM. He is strong, fast, has good size, and range on the other side Brian Rolle is the truth. He got the Will locked up.

But i just wanted to touch on a few issues. Tell me what you think.

Dude, bad way to start here
First of all im not a inspiring writer or wannabe analyst (so if there’s grammer errors who cares)

Between this and the title… Listen, very few of us are aspiring writers, but your opinions will always get more respect if articulated with intelligence and correct grammar. This starts your article as aggressive and stand-offish, which most people aren’t gonna take well.

I kind of agreed with everything until this…

Now to the linebacker situation. We will not draft Kuechly and I think its the right decison. We dont need a 237 pound 4.8 running rookie running the D behind the wide nine. Not saying he’s not a good player, he will probably be the next James Larinitus.

Will people PLEASE stop referencing that one New Era report? I know that’s where you got the Laurinitis comparison. And of course people compare him to another white player, rather than a slower, sure-tackling, black LB. Actually, Kuechly reminds a bit of Tulloch. He’s a little bigger, covers a little better, and might not be quite as good at tackling, but he’s close. If people don’t like Kuechly that’s fine, but it would be nice to see some legitimate criticisms or another site that projects him lower than the first round.

agreed

This new era report is ridiculous. I would say Luke kuechly has more of an upside of tulloch but with better coverage. If you’ve ever seen tulloch in coverage…he’s a liability in the nicest terms.

That's weird

I agree with every thing in this post. If for some reason you can’t get the free agent LBs you listed draft Dont’a.

To the inspiring writer/ wannabe analyst or grammer teacher

But if that is the case and he is a more a Tulloch type player than Laurinitis (I don’t even know wtf the New Era report is); why not sign Tulloch in the free agency and get Coples in the draft. We’d be killing two birds that way. b/c Cole and Babin are both 30 plus.

you sound like a complete dick. i love reading good posts and articles on here, but the comment section often ruins this blog for me because so many of the people that post are really elite-ist and quick to give someone the “O” because they didn’t check their grammar or because they dont know EVERYTHING about eagles football. who cares? if you’re an eagles fan and you’re really here to talk about football, then i approve. if you’re here to critique everyone then just hold your tongue. the guy was nice enough to share his thoughts with everyone and prefaced it by saying he’s not an analyst or a grammar teacher for a reason: he didn’t want to get chewed out about it by some douchebag!

I'll bitch about it too

Having poor grammar and spelling is not something you just shrug off. I care if there is poor grammar. I get that this is a blog, and not taking the time to edit it and missing a few mistakes happens. But you can’t always fall back on the “It’s just a blog” excuse, because poor writing is something that grows. If you aren’t using proper grammar and correct spelling, or at least trying to, then it will start to show in other things, such as business reports, e-mails, and other important documents. You should treat all writing the same.

Like Anthro said, people take you more seriously if you have proper spelling and grammar, not just in blogs, but everywhere. If you had misspellings in a business report, a term paper, or a news article, people would immediately think less of the argument. You should strive for perfection here.

Desean- stays (Franchised) Better to give him his “Larry Money” for only one year than too pay him big money for acouple of years only to find out he wasn’t worth it, then if he plays like young Desean, sign him.

Asante- he is GONE!

Kuechly- I don’t know about this guy, he makes me nervous, all the college awards one could get but he isn’t (for me) a can’t miss player and he should be if he is what people say. But if he is there he almost has to be the pick if we didnt adress LB during FA (Which is what I would do). I wouldnt be mad if we didn’t get him nor if we did.

ok, the giants suck.

The problem is….the market for a LB isn’t really all that large as people make it out to be. Anyone who thinks the Falcons are gonna let Lofton just walk is crazy because he’s far and away the best defensive player they have. Stephen Tulloch I expect to be resigned because word is the Lions FO likes their front 7 as it is and would like to keep it that way. The only player I think who we could get since its believed he is going to be let to test FA is David Hawthorne who I would like to get. But after him, the drop off is significant. Ruud is free but to be honest, I would rather have Kuechly than him because Kuechly is already where he’s at (not experience wise, but everything else) Morrison hasn’t looked himself since he left Oakland, and after him I think the market gets worse.

Regardless of how realistic DeSean is about what he is worth, remember that the real motivation is going to be Rosenhaus getting the largest amount of commission possible, so don’t expect DeSean’s camp to back off of their high price tag.

I would be surprised if Detroit does not make a it a priority to resign Tulloch.

He isn't a number 1????

how isn’t he a #1. For this system he is. He makes each and every player job much easier. All year defenses attempt to stop the deep ball by droping safeties over Desean. Giving Celek and maclin space for days. he is also the reason when McCoy gets to the second Level its almost always is for a big play b/c no safeties are in the box. If vick takes what the defense give him every play our offense is damn near unstoppable.

I think he was all those things you said because of the hit AND that he didn’t want to put his body on the line while making that money. Give him a bigger contract (not Fitz type money though), and I think well see a return to what he was those years before.

Why would the eagles suddenly wise up and sign tulloch? Didn’t we have that option last year? If we wait until the third round again to draft a “premier” linebacker AGAIN . Then we’re on a crazy train headed to nowhere. And Robinson seems to get caught up in traffic , which is a huge problem if you run the wide nine.

Desean is gone. You gonna give him that contract in hopes that he grows some balls, makes catches, and keeps his head in the game. What if he doesn’t. What if Maclin outperforms him next year. Now you got an overpayed decoy, and you are gonna have McCoy and Maclin looking for contracts bigger than his. Deep threats are a dime a dozen. When he slows down he will be useless. Vick needs a reliable Target.

some original thoughts..

“We will not draft Kuechly and I think its the right decison. We dont need a 237 pound 4.8 running rookie running the D behind the wide nine”

I’m not convinced we draft Kuechly either. Here’s why. This year will be a “buyers market” again at free agency. If you look at the eagles roster, you see we lose 5 DL to free agency if we do nothing. 1 FB. 2 WR, 4 OL.

Here’s the rub….

Last year, it was a “buyer’s market”, and we watched the eagles resign NO players until after they tested free agency.

This year? I hate to be the harbinger… but if we don’t, we’ll be shopping for much more than LB’s.

with one first round and 2 2nd round, I will be very upset if we do not have either two picked in first two rounds or a FA and one new LB picked…

But hang on… Howie is going to take us all on another joyride again.

by milroyigglesfan on Jan 26, 2012 9:44 PM EST reply actions

agree

I agree with basically everything nice post. couple comments though…Kuechly is still considered one of the best if not the best LB ever in college football. So if he is available at our pick, we’d be stupid not to take him. However if we sign Hawthorne, which I really hope we do, at that point I agree with you. Take Still or Couples (my preference) in the first round, and hope that Burfict is still around for our second round picks. In terms of Desean I sincerely think he has come around and will stop being an idiot. I hope we franchise him, and try to work a logical contract out with him, because he is one of my favorite guys on this team. He NEEDS to fire Drew Rosenhaus though. Dude is a freaking moron. Lesean already fired him earlier this year, Desean should follow suit. And yes if we got Couples or Still, we’d be SCARY in terms of pass rushing. Would make us at the least equal to if not better than the Giants pass rush. Finally I also am a fan of Keenan Robinson, and based on reports it seems like were talking to him a bunch at the Senior Bowl, but the kid needs to bulk up a little more in my opinion

by shadyeagle25 on Jan 26, 2012 11:50 PM EST reply actions

I was intrigued by Hawthorne a few years ago when he had that break out season in Tatupu’s place. From what I’ve been reading is that Hawthorne was hampered by his knee injury a bit this year and the Seahawks are looking to go more speed than strength which is a knock against Hawthorne is that’s he’s lacking in the sonic department.

Honestly, of all the FA linebackers, I think the Hawthorne is the only likely one to actually reach FA because Lofton is not leaving the Falcons without a fight and Schwartz seemed to be a fan of Tulloch and wants to keep that front 7 intact again next season. I wanna try to find out more from about Hawthorne, but don’t wanna go to Field Gulls prematurely since I’m still not convinced the Eagles are really ready to open their checkbooks for a LB.

Lesean already fired him earlier this year

Remember, Lesean fired him and then re-hired him.

And yes if we got Couples or Still, we’d be SCARY in terms of pass rushing.

Still maybe even though I think we’re a little too loaded down at the DT position (Jenkins, Patterson, and Landri and I assume Dixon will be back and word is they’ve began talks with Laws) and I’m far from convinced that Coples will fall out of the top 10 with his specs.

Finally I also am a fan of Keenan Robinson

I like his physical abilities, but from some of the reports I’ve read he’s a couple cards short of a full deck and may have trouble being able to take a full NFL playbook. But a later round pick is worth the risk I suppose. Not like we can do worse with them than we already have.

well yea i wasn’t expecting us to take Robinson till the third or fourth round. Think he’d be good there. Also think Audie Cole would be a good fit for a late round pick as well. I agree with your assessment on DT, we do have too many. I’m one that believes that Laws won’t be back for one reason or another. Couples indeed probably wont get out of the first 10, but there’s always the possibility. Look what happened to Da’quan Bowers last year. And finally thanks, I wasn’t aware that Lesean re-hired Rosenhaus

by shadyeagle25 on Jan 27, 2012 9:04 AM EST up reply actions

I don’t mean this to sound like an ass, so I apologize in advance if it sounds so. But comparing Coples dropping to Bowers are two very different thing. Bowers drop came from a significant injury that more than likely will get him out of the NFL in the next 5 years since his injury is compared to Brandon Roy’s (which is why Brandon Roy as talented as he was only last 5 NBA years before he’s knees finally said no). I wouldn’t be surprised if DaQuan doesn’t make it beyond his rookie contract. Coples draft took a hit because of his motor and work ethic, but since he’s built in the mold of Peppers.

And I don’t think Laws will be back necessarily, but we opened talks with him last season and I’m wondering if they’ll do it again.

You didn’t sound like an ass no worries dude. Yes i agree with you on Bowers, he dropped so low because of his injury. I was just giving you an example of how someone who is listed so high can drop. If I recall, he was projected as #1 or #2 before the questions about his injury really started to surface. All I was saying is that despite his injury, he fell that far and therefore I don’t think its crazy to think that it is possible that Coples would fall to us at only 15. Not saying that I think that will happen. Cuz like I said, I don’t see him getting out of the first ten picks. I was only saying that he could fall, and used Bowers as an example simply because he fell beyond where anyone thought he would.
