The Linc - Mornhinweg A "Strong" Candidate In Oakland
NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post
It’s early, but Marty Mornhinweg is looking like a strong candidate for the head coach opening in Oakland. The Eagles offensive coordinator has Bay area roots, was a success with the 49ers and has ties to new general manager Reggie McKenzie from their days together in Green Bay

Could Eagles be thinking QB in draft? | Eagletarian | 01/22/2012
The Eagles might look for a quarterback somewhere in the early rounds of the draft, especially since they have an extra second-round pick from the Kevin Kolb trade with Arizona.
Election Day: Eagles Fan Polls And Opinions - SB Nation Philly
Before you know it, Election Day will be here. Sticking to that theme, I decided to open up some polls for Eagles fans to gauge the opinion of some of the Philly faithful.
Packers fans move on - unlike Philly fans | Philadelphia Inquirer | 01/22/2012
Had the Eagles lost to the Giants last week with a No. 1 seed and a 15-1 record, with a quarterback as accomplished as Aaron Rodgers . . . dios mio! But in Green Bay, life moves on. I started paying attention this past week to the sports media there. The day after the game, there were several newspaper stories in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel detailing the disappointing Packers loss. And there was one story on the reaction of Green Bay fans. A few were devastated. But in that same story, a fan actually made the case that it had been a good season for the Packers and that they would get 'em next year.

My nightmare coming true...
I want to say I won’t watch the Super Bowl but I will. We all will. We can’t help it. But I won’t be happy about it.
Secondly, Eagles possibly targeting a QB in the Early Rounds? Um…ok I guess. Hopefully it’s after they draft an LB and someone for the D-Line. I guess they need a young back up, or do they?
Ed Snider is a crotchety old fuck.
That is all.
This isn't happening.
The Giants are in the superbowl, Marty Mornhinweg might leave and Juan Castillo is staying. Our biggest rival might win the superbowl. The guy who coordinates one of the best offenses in the NFL might leave and then our horrible coordinator might end up staying.
This is a god damn nightmare.

A pricey, much-hyped defense turned in a middle-of-the-pack performance. So no, the stats don’t say otherwise. They still underachieved.
I don’t think the stats show much about how good of a DC he is. There is a lot going into the equation; we don’t know how well the same players would have done under another DC. Maybe much better, maybe roughly the same. He might be horrible. He might not be. Based on everything I’ve seen, I’d say he’s not very good, but I don’t think the numbers themselves make it clear at all.
Worst possible superbowl ever. The only way it could be worse is if it was the Steelers and Giants. Can’t stand either team. I guess we don’t have a choice but to root for the Pats. Remember guys, no one ever remembers the super bowl winner…if teh Pats win, no one will talk about the Giants.

I’m just preparing for the worst. If Marty Mornhinweg leaves, I’m prepared to watch a losing season, Andy Reid get fired and a new guy bring in “his guy”. So, in preparation for this, I’m just making a list of QB prospects who could be early picks next year just for future reference.
Matt Barkley
Tyler Bray
Tyler Wilson
Logan Thomas
Geno Smith
Aaron Murray
Mike Glennon
Derek Carr
Pete Thomas
Keith Price

Sean McDermott. Juan Castillo.
Those are Andy’s last two coordinator choices. We’re fucked.

It’s not like Andy really had a choice when he went with McDermott.

No, they weren’t. If I really need to explain how our defense was bad and why Juan Castillo is garbage, you need your head examined.

If Marty goes, Andy will likely promote David Culley or hire Brad Childress at OC. I think the Eagles have about 5 or 10 other things more worrisome about them than their potential loss of an OC.

What exactly would it take for you to say Reid should be fired?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
"WHY IS THIS PINK-HAIRED BITCH A CAR?!"
For myself at least...
For me it would be a season where the performance wasn’t so easily traceable to player errors and miscues on the field. When four out of eight lost games could just as easily have been wins if just one of multiple errors went differently each and every game, you can’t say coaching was at fault. At the fact that the players like Andy and even in the doldrums they didn’t quit on the season, and I would say one of the above would need to worsen and deteriorate for me to join the fire Andy bandwagon. Until then, I’m a supporter.
Plus, what HC’s hired in this year’s HC insanity thus far would you prefer to have to Reid? Hell, one of our own coaching staff might be set to become one of the “best” HC options of the season.
Ugh…Matt Barkley is garbage

Most USC QBs do
Leinart, Palmer, and Sanchez were all top 10 picks. Coorelation does not equal causation but Barkley is way overrated.
At least is is not DAL...

Of course the packers can move on easier than us. The packers will be SB contenders for the next 5 or so years (can’t say the same for us), they didn’t lose to their biggest division rival, and they have multiple super bowl titles…including one last year

That 700level article about turnovers
That’s what I’ve been saying for awhile now- turnovers are a bigger indicator for winning than anything else.
Still I’m surprised that despite the turnovers, the defense actually played pretty well when they happened.
I’m definitely even happier Juan is coming back now.
So if this is Andy’s last year why the fuck would he draft a QB high like some people keep on suggesting? He probably needs to win instead of develop a QB on the bench don’t you think?
The Legend
Well if Marty does go...
so much for the “comradery” rumor Andy Reid supposedly mentioned as the reason to keeping Juan! I know you can’t hold asst. coaches back from moving forward in their lives, but Marty leaving would most def effect the “comradery”. Though know matter what Andy says, I still believe that Andy calls the majority of the plays. Not Marty. So maybe it wouldn’t be too big of a factor. That said, if Marty does go, do you really think someone like Bam Childress could come right in and not miss a beat with our offense?!
"... You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win..."
Talk is
That Andy has been one of the biggest supporters/proponents of Marty getting an HC gig somewhere, and that he was trying to help him out with that in previous seasons, exactly because of the camaraderie you say would be disproven here. These guys like each other and want to help each other out professionally and otherwise.
I this goes for almost ANY team in the NFL
I believe almost every head coach out there would love to their asst coaches move on and be something great! But in this specific instance, I dont know if it would be the best for the team right now, if Marty moved on. Only because I truly believe this is a make or break season for Reid and this team! If camaraderie was the reason for keeping Juan, then i’d rather not see Marty go because like it or not, Marty has had really good success with this team. Reid respects him and most importantly the players love him. If this is a make or break season..or what i like to call, “Reids Last Stand” then i’d rather have Marty by his side than bringing in a new Off. Coord. for one last Super Bowl push.
"... You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win..."
I would also like to say
I do wish Marty the best where ever he may be/go! Its cool to see all these former Eagles coaches taking on high profile positions across the league! Its like a bitter sweet feeling.
"... You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win..."
I agree
I would rather have Marty here as well. I think next year is going to be a definitive year for the Eagles organization and the Reid era in general, and I do hope for and wish them success. The more of the “team” together for that run, the better.
There is no way
Tom Brady or BB can’t have their legacy end with one Team beating them Twice in a superbowl. Even if the NFL is fixed (which this year it sure felt more like it than ever) the script will be Brady and BB will right the wrong of the team who bested them in their perfect season, They lost when they were unbeatable but now when they are vulnerable they will dominate. The Giants losing the Superbowl (or any other NFC East team) is a great thing, Embarrassing as hell (as we remember) and this means TC will be around for alot longer (which used to be a great thing).
ok, the giants suck.
