The Linc - Is Brian Dawkins Done?
Has Dawkins played his last game? | Philly | 01/21/2012
It's been nearly three years since Brian Dawkins left the Eagles and signed with the Denver Broncos. This offseason, the 16-year veteran will decide whether his playing days are over.
On the Eagles defense, does size matter? | Philadelphia Inquirer | 01/22/2012
What if the Eagles' problems on defense were more related to Andy Reid's preference for drafting and acquiring smaller players than Juan Castillo's learning curve?
Former Eagles personnel assistant Gamble finds success with 49ers | Philadelphia Inquirer | 01/21/2012
The Norman Braman-Harry Gamble tenure of owning and running the Eagles will be remembered for many things, but their failure to reach a Super Bowl despite some talent-laden teams could be the most infamous.
Wide-9, blitz can coexist in one defense | Philadelphia Daily News | 01/20/2012
There has been some speculation over the last couple of weeks that if Andy Reid decides to bring in a new defensive coordinator, it could precipitate the departure of defensive line coach Jim Washburn.

We have 3 all star games today. The East-West Shrine Game is the biggest of the trio…by far. There aren’t any top shelf players there, but there could be some guys who will go in the 3rd round. Mostly it is guys in the 5th-7th and UDFAs, but the Eagles have plucked some good players from the Shrine Game over the years. Brent Celek and Clay Harbor both helped their draft status with good showings.

Regarding McLane's article...
…it’s probably a healthy combination of the two.
Castillo is arguably the worst defensive coordinator in the NFL considering the extreme disconnect between the level of talent on the defense and the results. He is a disgrace.
However, Reid is a notoriously poor evaluator of talent. His team philosophy is also inconsistent with winning in that he drafts small, physically weak players who he believes will “try hard” enough to overcome extreme physical handicaps.
God Damn you, Andy Reid.
The fat queen has failed us again. Reid must go.
Some small guys can play in the NFL
But Reid’s main draft weakness IMO is that he drafts way too many pf these “specialty” guys that can only really play in sub-packages.
And size kind of does matter, when one of the most frequent complaints about these dudes is that theyalways seem to wear down at the end of the year

I grew up in Pa. but my job has taken me deep into the swamps of louisiana where all you here is "who dat, who dat" and on clear nights when the wind is gently blowing from the northwest you can hear the wimpers and sobs of jerry and his herd of cowgirls.

I think the right thing to do would be to sign Dawk to a one day contract a la Cunningham so that he can retire an Eagle.
That will happen and then Lurie will retire his number. Dawk is an all-time great and future hall of famer.

This was awesome. I miss dawk
“We were blessed to have a great rapport with our teammates,” Dawkins said. "They trusted us because they knew we would never tell them to do anything that we wouldn’t be willing to do. We would never tell them to cut out doing this, that and the other because they knew we would do it. We would always tell them to run into somebody full speed because they know we would do it. If we’re missing a tackle, we would let them know: I was wrong. I gotta make that play. There’s no excuse for that. They know we would be first to say that to them.

Did anyone listen to Adam Caplan's radio show yesterday? He had some interesting info
He said:
we are definitely bringing back Cullen Jenkins
don’t shoot the messenger but they are trying to bring back Trevor Laws
Landri will probably get re-signed
Tapp is probably gone since he will make $4mil due to bonuses he hit this year
The King will probably go somewhere else where he can get more playing time
Justice will have to rework his contract in order to stay
The Legend
Jenkins is a no brainer, same with Landri. I can see why they will bring Laws back, he fits the system and depth always nice. Tapp had a nice year but 4 mill is to much to pay for him.
I would hope we could keep King, but some team might see him as a starter and Justice needs to step up again.

Vick won't be our QB forever...maybe not even a full season
I’d much rather not have to worry (too much) about our T depth, assuming we could keep him, that is
It’s same to assume Vince Young isn’t coming back, right?

I don't understand Laws at all.
I’m happy for King, a 7th round pick that went from worst in the league to potential starter, I could see him getting a starting job elsewhere. I don’t mind Tapp and Justice will have to work for less because he will be a backup and I don’t know if he fits Mudds system.

Damn I've still haven't completely gotten over Dawkins' departure.
That guy was worth his weight in gold. The things he did for this team and the leadership he brought was just downright special. It would be amazing if he would somehow make it back for the Eagles as a secondary coach or assistant with the defense or anything. Unfortunately he has no plans of moving since he has family in Denver and it’s either he plays another year or he’s done. Thank you Hawkin Dawkins…we gon’ miss ya.

dawkins was so special
everytime i see an interview on him i get pissed that they let him walk, for all the trouble we’ve had at safety it was stupid not to pay him the extra money to stay. owell just another fuck up by joe and howie.
revisionist history
He was unquestionably one of the all-time great Eagles. But do you not recall the season before we let him walk when he was just a sieve in coverage? They did the right thing in letting him go when they did; there was no way he was worth that kind of money, and why tarnish his legacy with the Eagles keeping him out there when he was so clearly in decline?
Nope.
