Jeremy Maclin A More Valuable Fantasy WR Than DeSean Jackson?
ESPN's fantasy football writer Eric Karabell recently released his early list of the top 50 fantasy WRs for the 2012 season. I was a bit surprised to see that he has Jeremy Maclin rated ahead of DeSean Jackson on this list.
He has Maclin rated at #21 in his "5th tier" of WRs that he would take in the 4th or 5th round. Jackson, however is lumped in with the "6th tier," which is sort of a "everyone else" group that he'd consider taking beyond the fifth round. He's got Jackson rated at #28.
So there's not a huge difference between the two, but I think it is notable that in the eyes of some national media Maclin has passed Jackson. Now this is only fantasy football that we're talking about here, but you could certainly make the argument that Maclin might have passed Jackson in real football as well. Either way, it's close.

Great
I had Maclin on my team last year, he was a bust (1 big game, Atlanta). Luckily, I also had Shady.
Maclin needs to take it to the next level
He gets favorable match ups lining up next to Jackson, and he was suppsoed to be a kid who makes explosive plays on a consistent basis. He’s exactly what the FF pundit said — a slightly above average WR
JoeD AKA The Voice Of Reason
Shouldn't Maclin get a little bit of slack here?
I mean at the beginning of the season we didn’t even know if he’d play football again.

Because Jackson has taken it to the next level?
Jackson get favorable matchups as well because of Maclin. In the redzone Jackson you’d think should score once in agreat while. They pay him no attention because they know that Maclin and Celek are more and better down there. That should give Jackson some openings.
But when he does get the ball thrown his way he alligator arms it and shys away from contact.
Why is everyone so set on Jackson opening things up for Maclin? It works both ways, Maclin does the short/intermediate stuff great, opening the deep routes for Jackson. Where was Jackson’s big plays last season??
He is a good receiver.
But not much more than that. He certainly benefits from favorable matchups. He’s a good #2.
God Damn you, Andy Reid.
The fat queen has failed us again. Reid must go.
Am I the only one who's a little disappointed that Maclin hasn't turned out better?
With Crabtree having his foot issues early in his career, I thought we got the steal of the draft that year.
I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.
yes i am pretty disappointed, as of right now he hasnt been worth a 1st round pick

LOL what?
disagree x1,000,000 he is a great 1st round pick. He’s not a top 5 WR in the league but he as good as the next 5 WR. Before you go all stats on me he only had 97 targets on the year. That’s 7 less than DeSean and 36 less than Nicks a guy he was drafted just before.
Nicks is better IMO. But they are close. Nicks is just more physical but Jeremy is better at dissecting a zone.
At least one more year of Andy and Juan. If they don't win it all they both better be gone!
No way Eagles draft a LB in the first round 2012.
We will see if Spags was in the right place at the right time in the Gmens SB run. Or was that the fluke year and he really is just mediocre.

*he blew it all 3 times the ball went into his hands on the final drive last season.
Of course he helped us win plenty of games too… like the miracle at the new meadowlands. I also recall him making a late catch that set up a FG against Denver.
My comment was just frustration about the ridiculous ways we lost games last season. Even our best veteran players were killing us when it counted.
we lost a game
bc Avant dropped a perfect pass in the endzone. So we should never never pass to him when he is in the endzone. And you’ve been wrong more than 3x in your life so we can never listen to you. :)

The person who gets the #1 corner primarily...
…is our #1 receiver. And that, inarguably, is DJax.
Why do people always think I'm playing the Race Card???
Is it because I'm black???
And yet Jackson isn't even a #2 receiver on most any other team.
What does that tell you? All the national guys can see that Jackson is a one trick pony. He can’t do anything but the deep stuff and even then he drops half of those passes or gets a stupid penalty.
keeper status?
i’d rather use my keeper on maclin…
Without a doubt Maclin is better fantasy wise
Maclin is much more consistent than Desean and is a better red zone threat. Desean will have some huge weeks but he can kill you some weeks.
Does the fanbase like jackson? I know some of us buc fans wish we could sign him

I say take Jackson then!!
He thinks he’s better then he really is and is a whiny little bitch on and off the field. He gives up on the team and is lucky to hold onto the ball when it’s thrown his way, let alone actually give up his body to make a catch.
If you want Jackson, you can have him.
Them Duckies
Give The Man His Duckies $$$…ACTION Jackson that is then maybe he’ll but up bigger #….

What's with Maclin getting downplayed all of the sudden?
He has been consistently improving from one year to the next. 50 yards/game in ‘09, 60 yards/game in ’10, 66 yards/game in ’11. He’ll definitely become a top-10 receiver by next year end and maybe top-5 after that.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

Here's hoping....
We draft Michael Floyd @ 15; package both 2nds for Burfict @ 24. I think Kuechly (makes me warmer than lukewarm) will be gone before 15. As far as fantasy (sticking to post), I wouldn’t draft either one. I’d draft Vick, McCoy, or our defense, which surprisingly, might just finish out of top 10..maybe around 12. With all the receivers having a drop off, I am sure you still can draft a quality WR after QB, RB. It really depends on league; I’ve seen someone draft a QB, then next round draft that QB’s #1 WR

Dawk was the heart of the D when he was playing.
If he retires, why not try him as a position coach? Safeties and CB’s?? With 16 years of experience playing the game better than just about anyone, and if he’d STFU about god long enough to coach those positions, I don’t know how he could go wrong.
Whoever you are, when I log off, you cease to exist.
The operative IQ of a group is no higher than that of it's lowest scoring member.
I reserve the right to hold other posters to a higher standard than I myself maintain. Why? Because I am an unrpentent lout. Deal with it.
hope this happens
we need a secondary coach anyway ha. no but really maybe in the near future he will move on to coaching.
