Usually when we keep getting mocked the same player and it’s a pick that makes too much sense, it doesn’t happen.

Oof
DeCastro to the Cowboys and Kuechly to the Eagles would be hard to take. That’s the downside of picking so late though.
Victor Cruz is the 2011 Ahmad Bradshaw. He giveth, and he taketh away. Thankfully he is giving much more now.

They got the coach who was with the Jets... Give them all world talent with him a a coach and you'll be lucky to get solidity out of em.

Once the senior bowl/combine are done and FA begins mock drafts will have more weight.
HA HA “It’s been long enough for them to get over drafting Mike Mamula back in 1995” good one man.
Last year it was “Man we need to trade up to get Peterson” then it turned into “well we can’t get Peterson so lets get Jimmy Smith or Prince if he is available” . Most mock drafts had us taking the CB from Colorado then we pick Watkins. I just hope Kuechly is available at #15 and we draft him.

Sometimes it happens for the better. Should've seen BBV's draft thread last year.
Rolando McClain, Raiders…..FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
CJ Spiller, Bills…………RAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
JPP, Giants…………………BRAEK TEH INTERZNETZ
You guys could end up taking someone that nobody likes, and it could work out. Though its hard to see anybody except the Cards being a legit threat to take Kuechly. Of course, if Reid decides to take him or not is another question.
I support the Giants like bras support Kim Kardashian's boobs. It can be a struggle, we've had some jiggles, but we're still firm.

Yep
And that’s the problem with the combine… people think if someone puts up huge combine numbers but they had so-so production in college, it means bust. Sometimes it does, but with the right coaching, the player can turn into a monster… exhibit 1: JPP

Whether we get LK or not, we’ll have a quality player available for us at 15. Besides we’ll probably trade back anyway….

But they're both white so they're the same player.

I dont think Reid will take
Luke, Ill bet the house that they take Burfict if hes still on the board and they take a linebacker
Kuechly would be awesome but Burfict could slip to the 2nd rd so if we don’t end up getting Kuechly we could get Burfict with one of our 2nd rd picks.
by Almightypudster on Jan 11, 2012 4:49 PM EST up reply actions
I don't see Burfict getting to the 2nd
simply because he’ll probably throw up really good numbers at the combine. Kuechly probably won’t put up great numbers. But I don’t really care about 40 speeds, etch for linebackers. For some reason its highly valued which is good for us because I don’t think Kuechly is that fast for the 40. But watching his highlights, he looks quick and like he accelerates fast to me and I prefer that 100X more for a linebacker.
That's why VB will shoot up the draft board and the Eagles will take him ahead of
Luke if there both still available.
i really hope that if the eagles draft burfict
it’s for reasons other than he has good speed or whatever. 40 time is soo useless for a linebacker.
Kuechly or Burfict would be great for us. Watching film on Burfict I do have to admit he reminds a little of the AXE MAN Jermiah Trotter.

Mock drafts are so friggin stupid. Why don’t you just create a list of Britney Spears top hits because it holds about as much relevance. Actually the schoolgirl uniform is 10 times more interesting.
You know why mock drafts are not stupid?
Because I get to hear information from people who do watch college football about the various players in the draft. I then watch videos on said players and, overall, get pumped up about the draft/next season.
Anyone who puts any real credence into mock drafts is just plain naive.
Luke is the most logical fit
I even have him in my own mock draft: >http://juicedsportsblog.com/2012/01/juiced-sports-presents-the-2012-nfl-mock-draft-take-2.html
But I do think we’ll end up with DeCastro if Mathis walks or Floyd if DJAX does. My bet though is Devon Still, he fits the athletic d-lineman Washburn and Spags both like. I want Luke though.
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"
Devon Still
wouldn’t surprise me at all. Our DT’s are getting up there in age. In fact, our entire DL is getting up there in age. I think we’ll end up going DT or DE even though LB makes more sense.
i do feel landri leaving free agent would be a huge sign toward that
but there are alot of decent D-line in the 2nd and 3rd, so I really want a LB in the 1st or 2nd. I’m sure Spags would put that in his contract lol
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"
I dont think we'll either
Probalbly get a wideout in FA if Desean gets traded and we stockpiled on the line. I think we pick up a Linebacker (VB) or a Safety/Corner, if Andy takes a OT with the first pick he should FIRED on the spot.
It'll be a guy we don't even talk about
Jeremy Maclin = No chance
Brandon Graham = No way, no how. Especially not at 13.
Danny Watkins = Nope. Too old.
The last three drafts we’ve taken guys none of us expected. The same will happen this year.
However, I would love nothing more than to draft Kuechly.
Upshaw is pure 3-4 and that's it, so that could be awful
Hightower I’d be ok with if they traded down about 5-7 picks
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"
What the highest draft pick we could get for Desean? What premier or mid-level LB
can we trade Desean for? What about trading Desean for Navarro Bowman.
49ers never would do that, he's a borderline All-PRo
maybe a guy the equivalence of Dan Connor (not Connor himself, hes a FA I believe) and a 2nd rounder.
Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"
NJ Eagle: "Fly Eagles Fly!!!"
Are we in agreement that we can't get a 1st for Desean? If its for a 2nd
rounder I would only trade him to the colts since there WR are probably leaving anyway and it would give us some great 2nd round picks with great players still left on board or close enough to use the picks to sneak back in the first round
Don’t’a Hightower will be the pick if Luke is gone
by EaglesAPhiA on Jan 11, 2012 7:11 PM EST via mobile reply actions
No, he won’t. If Luke is gone we’re fucked. Seriously. This inside linebacker class is A-W-F-U-L and Kuechly is really the only guy in this draft class who fits our scheme and can play right away. Hightower is too slow and Burfict is an idiot.

Somebody else will turn out to be very good, perhaps even better than Kuechly. It always seems to work out that way, that somebody who was given some bad reviews out of college turns out to be very good. Mason Foster from last class jumps to mind, as does Brandon Spikes the year before, who everybody said was too slow but has actually done a very solid job for NE, from what I’ve seen.

Mason Foster was never bad. Mason Foster was just a late bloomer. I was convinced him and Nate Irving were the best 4-3 LBs from last years class. And Brandon Spikes hasn’t really been all that good. Just they pretty much asked him not to screw up and its pretty easy when you play next to Jerod Mayo. Between Spikes and Guyton, Guyton is the better player.

Foster was never projected as “bad”, but he had a knock or he wouldn’t have fallen to the third. That’s what I was trying to say.

I gotcha. I think the biggest knock on Foster though was that he was a one year wonder. His other seasons were pretty mediocre compared to his final season. But I follow what you’re saying.

I loved Mason Foster last year. I really wanted him or Nate Irving. But, it didn’t work out… Oh well.
Brandon Spikes is a Dont’a Hightower clone, both are far too slow to fit in a 4-3 scheme. He simply lacks the athletic ability to get to the perimeter or be a decent pass defender in a 4-3 defense. He’s pretty much strictly a 3-4 ILB, he’s a thumper type who is a nice run stopper but that’s about it. Guys like him never make it in a 4-3 defense, look at Ahmad Brooks. And I know you’re probably going to say “Jeremiah Trotter” but Trotter ran a 4.6 coming out of college so… Yeah.
There is really no decent inside linebacker after Kuechly. There are a couple guys who could fit but there is no other slam-dunk type guy. Maybe you take a chance on James Michael-Johnson, Mychal Kendricks, Chris Marve or Adrien Cole but they’re nowhere near as good as Kuechly.

I defer to you two (funny how you both commented) on all stuff draft-related, so I’ll trust you when you say Spikes isn’t an ideal 4-3 MLB. But you do have to agree that there’s always an outlier at some position (usually more than one) who gets written off in the draft for some flaws and ends up beasting in the pros. That was my point here.

Hell no. But I think I’d take him in the third and move him to SLB in a Spags defense (especially if we ditch the wide 9). Lots of ability but he hasn’t been able to corral it yet thanks in large part to his character problems.

I really don’t know what you don’t get. WE DO NOT NEED A WLB, WE ALREADY HAVE A LOGJAM. Brian Rolle, Keenan Clayton and Akeem Jordan are all good players at WLB.
And you act like “decent” strongside linebackers grow on trees. Like they’re easy to find.

Not in the 1st round, Burflict is going to drop to the 2nd round because he is an liability for the team who picks him. He is talented but the if Kuechly is still on the board the Eagles will pick him and if he is not, they are going to pick up a WR,DL, or OL on the 1st round. If Burfict is still on the board when the Eagles pick in the second round, I wouldn’t mind if they pick him up then
