Eagles' Jenkins warns against 'Dream Team' label
"Calling ourselves the ‘Dream Team,’ that would indicate that we’ve done something or that we’re to a level that other people want to be at," Jenkins said. "But in actuality, we just have talent on our team, but we haven’t done anything with the talent yet. So we need to go out there and prove something first before we can start talking about what we are."

Would you rather keep shady or Djax if u had to choose. Personally I think we can resign both, if agent asshole doesn’t ask for the world. But if I had to choose I would lean toward lesean.

Shady

Not even a debate in my mind.

But, yeah. We can keep both.

yea, kick rocks Djax

I think WR is one of the most expendaple positions in the league

sometimes we question s**t that there is no anwer to but I just built a house on I dont give a f*k avenue

by theaction on Sep 9, 2011 9:57 AM EDT up reply actions

RB

is even more expendable imo.

Hence, why WR’s tend to be taken before RB’s in the draft (on average) and elite WR’s get paid more than RB’s.

Coaches believe good RB’s can be found anywhere.

But having said that, Shady still is enormously valuable to our team. He has to be resigned.

by Smitty2K3 on Sep 9, 2011 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions

80% of the time, I'd believe that.

But Shady is not just a running back. Westbrook wasn’t either. They are the “Make Machine Go” guys of this offense. Sexy is as sexy does when it comes to Vick, Maclin, and Jackson, but McCoy is the key cog for weaving through the offensive line for running plays, screen passes, dump offs…

Mike Shanahan (in Denver, at least) and Belichick proved that you can basically just insert almost anybody in there and get moderately acceptable production. Shady just does way, way more than that.

by Eagle Fly Free on Sep 9, 2011 11:15 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed

Shady was an elite RB last year. He needs to be re-signed. No doubt about it.

All-in-all WR’s are viewed to be more valuable than RB’s though.

RE: Deasean's contract
Source close to situation told me negotiations aren’t just far apart; both sides have stopped talking for the moment.

Isn’t that somewhat normal whenever you’re negotiating a new contract with a high profile player. In fact, didn’t negotiations hit a wall before we dealt Kolb to the Cards?

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into this

Constant negotiation sounds like a good idea if you’ve never experienced it. Sometimes you need to step back, let each side reevaluate their positions and then come back with another offer.

The info in this tweet could be interpreted as either positive or negative and we have no way of determining which, making it largely meaningless.

by davidbt11 on Sep 9, 2011 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions

Not to mention, almost all info given to reporters in the midst of a contract negotiation is what the agent wants reported.

by The Fish on Sep 9, 2011 11:30 AM EDT reply actions

I just don't get it

I mean skip bayless I understand but alot of people are picking the rams. Did I miss something? Isn’t this the same team that didn’t even win the worst division in football? I mean sure we have holes but don’t they have more?I watched a clip today of the NFL network crew discussing the Eagles and every one of those guys are so filled with hate and disdain for us all because that damn dream team shit. The only guy who actually talked good about us was Michael Irvin of all people. When that’s the case then you know something is wrong. I just don’t understand all the hate. It is sickening

Better embrace it

I’ve said it in about six threads the past three days: it’s chic to be on the anti-Eagles bandwagon.

Which is funny, because all the typical haters are still hating, while many objective folks have embraced their half-assed notions in an effort to spit on the winners of free agency. Nevermind that the Yankees can go out and buy whoever the hell they want – you’re not allowed to do that (and have in work) to the precious game of football!

I also called the fact that over half of analysts would pick the Rams over the Eagles. Man, I’m good at smelling media-created bullshit a mile away, aren’t I?

by cwel87 on Sep 9, 2011 12:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh yeah

You called it alright. And it’s so true comparing it to the Yankees. I mean they do it every year and people praise them for it. I mean even the Jets went on a similar spree two years ago when they picked up all those high profile guys and everybody was jumping on their bandwagon claiming superbowl. Being an Eagles fan I have learned to deal with all the nonsensical hate but now it’s just getting rediculous. I’ll embrace it alright but damnit if I won’t defend it until the wheels fall off

by The Legend on Sep 9, 2011 12:26 PM EDT reply actions

It is pretty funny how everybody just hates the eagles now-a-days. Isn’t it crazy how every year before this, everybody always claims the cowboys to be the superbowl team because of the high profile players they always have. And finally when somebody else has the better team on paper they hate on us! That’s just ridiculous! Let them though! Better for us!
