Will we turn things around this week?
I don't know why, but I'm having a really good feeling about this game. Am I being overly optimistic? Well I don't really know, I just need something to hold on to and a win over the Niners will do it! Here's another www.PhilaDehliaEagles.com post, please critique. I tried a little different style that some of my subscribers have already pointed out. Let me know what you guys think. Also, where are my Westcoast Eagles fans at? I need some back up in some of these Eagle hater bars, lol.
I <3 BGN
As an Eagles Fan representing on the west coast, I’ve been going to all the Eagles west coast games (yes, including the NFC Championships when we played in Arizona) Most of the games I’ve gone to are in San Francisco against the 49ers. I love going into 9er’s territory and taking over. So obviously I have some fond memories when thinking of our match up against San Francisco week.
Ok, week 4 Eagles host 49ers. This is where my Eagles are gonna turn things around I can feel it! It doesn’t matter if on paper Philadelphia Eagles are the better team, all that matters is that they actually play to their potential. I’m tired of losing games that we should win, and it better stop here.
So here’s the breakdown. 49er’s coach Jim Harbough, is the brother of John Harbough who used to coach for the Eagles a few yrs ago. Which means he might ask his brother for insight to the Eagles, but Jim is still an unproven rookie head coach. Frank gore hasn’t been effective in the running game this year, so hopefully we won’t get gashed by a running back like our other games this season.
In the passing game, Big Vern, aka Vernon Davis, has the *potential* to destroy the middle of our defense, if Alex Smith can get him the ball. He is such a big part of their offense that I would like to see Nnamdi on him all game. DRC and Samuel should be able to handle Crabbtree and Edwards. And if they go 3-wide, I feel fine with one of our non-pro-bowl corners covering "Brick Hands" Teddy Ginn. Big Vern gave us a big burn the last time we played, torching us for a 100+ receiving yard game. If we don’t do something special to take him out of the game, he could be looking at Tony Gonzales numbers.
Defensively, the Niners have arguably the best linebacker in the league in Patrick Willis. He’s a stud: he’s fast, instinctual, and can lay some wood. I hope we double team him in the run game and also the pass blocking game when he blitzes. I want to keep him as far away from Vick as possible. Especially since Vick seems to be complaining about getting hit so much. Before Vick can talk about being hit he needs to avoid all the other unnecessary hits he takes when he scrambles – Please slide or go out of bounds before they can touch you – one more yard isn’t worth it unless you’re going to break the plane, the pilon, or reach a marker on 3rd down.
My question this week doesn’t really have to do with the game, but I want to know what city everyone is representing from. Are you a displaced NFL fan like me representing outside of your teams state? Or are you in the heart of your team’s city. For me, I’m an Eagles fan living in Los Angeles, CA. How about you? Leave me a comment and let me know where you are from and what team u represent?

Love these videos.
First off – Dehlia on BGN-TV: make it happen!
The 49ers do have some nice weapons, but their offensive line is bad. I’m sure Alex Smith isn’t really scaring anyone either. That being said, I’m not as optimistic about the Eagles as I have been these past weeks. I know it’s early in the season and we can turn it around, but I’m not taking any game from here on out lightly. I’m hoping the Eagles prove me wrong and give me reason to be more optimistic.
As for the defensive side of the ball, FootballOutsiders has the 49ers ranked as the #1 rush defense and #8 pass defense so far. There’s no doubt that Mike Vick will be playing, but I’m hoping he can get back into competitive form. I think we can all agree that he just didn’t look right last week. I’m also hoping to get DJacc more involved. I saw a stat on twitter today Vick hasn’t attempted a 25+ yard pass since the opener against the Rams (a longball to DJacc that was off target). (Note: I’m basing that off of memory, I could have remembered whatever I think I saw wrong). But it seems true because I feel we haven’t been trying to stretch the field like we have in the past.
As for where I’m from, Philly, and the team I support… well, you already know that.
Once again, these videos are great, don’t stop.

Thanks!
Ya, Vick hasn’t been looking right and I’m really worried about him facing 9ers Defense and P.Willis. Last thing we need is him breaking something else. Once again we made some changes on our D, so hopefully we’ll see an improvement this wk but u never know. It’s like the eagles purposely knock all the hope out of me before they start turning things around. As far as Djac goes i’ve seen some decline in this performance and looks less motivated. I hope it doesn’t have to due w/ his issues about his contract, where he might be playing more cautiously.

I remember seeing Jason (or someone from this site) mention that Willis actually doesn’t blitz often. In any case, protecting Vick will once again be a critical objective.
As for DJacc, yeah, I’m hoping it has nothing to do with the contract. He’s had 4 drops or so already (a couple which would have been TDs), and he’s practically disappearing in games. I can’t blame him for all of that though; the coaches need to figure out how to get the ball in his hands more often.

Better than your previous effort
Your talking is more poised with less gaps – and – ums , and you’ve gone partway to what I wanted to recommend to you, which is more analysis and less feelings. One thing you didn’t do your homework on, though, Edwards is not expected to be in this game.
A little research and detail will help your points more, and you need to state them a bit more strongly. For example, when you talk about whether Alex Smith can get Vernon Davis the ball – mention that the 49ers offensive line is struggling, especially at both tackle spots, so the wide 9 will put a lot of pressure on Smith.
One thing missing – how and what do you think the Eagles offense is going to do. Patrick
Willis is the 49ers defense star, but he’s not the whole defense. I would have mentioned also that the SF secondary is considered somewhat suspect (except for Rogers), and how Maclin, DeSean, Avant, and maybe Smith or Celek can be used to attack that. (Short version: include more game planning)
And to answer your question, I was born in San Mateo, California and grew up partly in that area and partly in Seattle but have been living overseas for 16 years. My sister lived in LA the last year but she’s now in Chicago.

I should have know we were going to lose. We will always be the second class citizens behind the better and historically superior New York Giants. We have no chance of a Superbowl and never will.
Maybe things would have been different if we had Eli Manning. He’s an actual Superbowl winner.

Funny story, I was a niners fan until they traded Montana ( I live near SF) and Lott. There was no free agency back then,so the trades felt like a betrayal to the fans. I needed to find a new team and Philly D plus number twelve was a great combination.

Hence, my username. Not really sure how I ended up an Eagles fan. Being in South Dakota theres not really a home team so I just gravitated toward the Eagles when I started following football I guess.
