Poll: What are your NEW expectations for this team?
Going into the season we all thought a team that was 10-6 and barely losing to the eventual SB champs would be poised to have another solid season with all the solid FA acquisitions. It's safe to say the majority of BGN thought this team was at WORST an 11-5 team with 12-4 not unlikely, and 13-3 a real possibility.
We beat the lowly Rams, who don't really appear to have turned any corners as they appear to be another 1-2 years about still.
We lost to the Falcons, who we probably should've beat by 10-14 points, but in hindsight, this is the same Falcons team who got stomped by what appears to be a mediocre Bears team and outplayed by an even more mediocre young Buccaneers team.
It gets worse, we lose to an injury laden Giants team who had to have the Rams gift them a win the week before. Not to mention they got torched by no name WRs with Rex Grossman at the helm.
As Jason mentioned, the problem is, this team is like a broken record. The same exact mistakes, the same players at fault, the same exact reoccuring themes in each in every game. Poor o-line play, bad LB play, mediocre S play. The run defense, the defense that lets up a TD when it needs a stop. Vic getting crushed every play, Vick holding onto the ball too long, Vick fumbling (not all his fault). There appear to be no fixes even though the level of competition has been very poor.
Rant over....where do you see this team now that they have shown very little in terms as being a consistent team in all facets of the game...
I hope I'm wrong but my brain is saying 9-7

I'm not ready to run around like a chicken without a head...
But if we drop the ball against the 49ers, or barely scrape a win, I’ll definitely consider it. The execution on both sides of the ball needs to improve, and fast.

We always get off to a slow start but this is starting to worry me a bit

If lose to the 9ers
It not only proves we can’t beat mediocre teams (Giants,Falcons,9ers) but we’ll be in a 1-3 hole , and I would’nt be convinced we could get out of it

I told a friend before the season began...
that we would struggle early and we have (though worse than we thought). I am sticking to that and my preseason prediction of 10-6. I still think the schedule is in our favor.
The linebackers continue to worry me. I think the rest is fixable I am not so sure with linebackers.
As long as there is evil in the world, the cowboys will have their fans.
agreed on the LBs
There is just nothing that says these guys can hack it

I agree 10-6 looks like a reasonable pick now, but I still find it hard to understand how anyone could pick that before the season started.
How is a team that
-was 10-6 last season (despite sitting week 17),
-added a bunch of superstar free agents,
-hasn’t had nearly as many early season injuries as last season,
not an improved team.
I mean you replace D Patterson with Nnamdi, add two stars to an inadequate pass rush and currently lead the league in sacks… and yet the D is WORSE? How is this happening???? Sure the LB’s aren’t great, but they weren’t great last year either. This is baffling to me.
Have you seen Patterson drop into coverage this year?
Until you do I don’t wanna hear that McDermott was better than Juan.

I should have know we were going to lose. We will always be the second class citizens behind the better and historically superior New York Giants. We have no chance of a Superbowl and never will.
Maybe things would have been different if we had Eli Manning. He’s an actual Superbowl winner.
just play with 6 downed linemen and 5 CBs
Problems solved
Changing my expectations
Would let the coaches off the hook. I won’t do that. I expect and demand a Super Bowl.
What do I think will happen: Well, less than 8 wins isn’t out of the realm of possibility if you can’t even clean up trash like the Giants
GO CUSE, BLUE, AND EAGLES!
It seems like 10-6 is our home base
No matter what, we always seem to finish right around 10-6, and I think this year’s no different. Hopefully we see a difference come playoff time.

Yea just getting to the playoffs and to the playoffs healthy would be awesome

I’m just hoping for a playoff berth. As they say, once the playoffs start, its like a new season.

A playoff berth sounds nice now...
but I was really setting my sights on a bye week for this season. I’m so sick of being one win away from a bye, and then losing a game we wouldn’t have had to play if it wasn’t for a stupid WTF loss against Oakland or Minnesota.
Seeing how these last two games have played out, and how last season played out (how the Packers barely made the playoffs thanks to an obscure tiebreaker, beat us after Akers missed 2 FG’s, and then won the SB), I’m convinced that in football games, randomness determines the outcome of a game more than anything. And your odds of winning 3 games in the playoffs are much better than winning 4.
I wanted that bye so bad… now it looks like a pipe dream.
I've decided to suspend all expectations for this team.
I’ve also decided I need at least an additional sixpack for the tailgate.
I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.
I've said and fanatics hated
this team has a lot of growing from coaches to players. We will be a force at the end of the season but we are green as f..k right now.
Joe Banner is Evil Banners father. Kinda like Luke and Darth Vader.
Juan Castillo switching from the offensive line coach to Defensive coordinator is soooo dumb it might just work.
Our defense will not be a top 10 defense this year.

nah not really aimed at you, my point is though for the last 10 years andy reid gives us that bullsh*t response we’ve got to get better as a coaching staff and im tired of it. if i told my boss that for 10 years after i screwed up id be fired. now im sure what he tells the media and what he tells lurie is two different things. im sure andys footprints are all over his staffs back when he meets with lurie. im just tired of hearing him say we need to get better as a coaching staff when hes the longest tenured coach in the NFC. He brought in great talent and has no idea how to put it together,
I'm not ready to back off my early-season predictions
With so much changeover and so many rookies, there had to be bumps in the road.
This is not about having the best team in September in October. They have to be good enough to get into the playoffs of course, and then be healthy and playing well when they get there.
They’ve got to figure out how to mask their defensive deficiencies. It’s one thing to have them and know people are going to attack them, and it’s another to be helpless to stop it.
I think 10-12 wins still very possible, but we have to start seeing the signs of improvement these next few games.
"I had to relearn a very old lesson this week. The lesson within the David vs. Goliath story. And that lesson is two fold: One, that the bigger you are (or think you are - Dream Team), the harder you fall. The second, that David won that battle vs. Goliath." Giants as David.... oh the irony!
Eagles
There was no reason why they couldnt of beat the falcons with a 10 point lead. The giants simply outplayed us but the falcons look sorry this year. But idk it seems to be a trend my highschool coach used to say to us. “everybody plays their best game against us” and im starting to think the same is for the eagles.

Great topic Joe
I still say we make the playoffs after we shake off this horrible start… it’s what we do every year.
