The Linc - Praise For Vince Young Last Night
Young outplays Kafka, even with injuries | Sam's Town | 09/01/2011
Vince looked good in last night’s 24-14 Eagles victory. Again. Before he left late in the second quarter of the with what was described as a strained right hamstring, he completed 15 of 23 passes for 193 yards, adding to a solid and promising preseason that should quell some of the what-if jitters fans and media expressed after Michael Vick signed his six-year, $100 million deal this week.
Young injured in Eagles' 24-14 win over Jets - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
Vince Young moved the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense all night against the New York Jets until he was stopped by the only thing that could do so: his right hamstring. Young led the Eagles on two scoring drives against Jets backups before leaving with a strained hamstring late in the second quarter in a 24-14 preseason victory Thursday night. "I think he’s going to be OK, from what I understand," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "We’ll MRI him just to make sure. We’ll see how he does after that."

Jon Runyan compares Michele Bachmann to Terrell Owens - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Jon Runyan has gone from being a left tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles to being a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He's also finding out that, no matter your profession, you're going to have to deal with people who really, really love being in the spotlight. With the Eagles, it was Terrell Owens. In the political realm, it's Michele Bachmann.

in another note
If he is celebrating a touchdown in this pic, why does the scoreboard behind automatically put 7 on the board? Shouldn’t it be 6? Unless its the extra point? Hmm…..

It was probably already 7, and they hadn’t changed it to 13 yet.

I’ve since realized this. No way I was gonna start the post with 3 of my own comments.

I really hope they give a lot playing time in the regular season to Dion Lewis, Phillip Hunt (hoping that he makes the team), Clayton, and Rolle.

I caught that too. if he was a political reporter I’d understand the mistake but he’s not… at least he didn’t call him a punter or something.

Oh yeah, I didn’t even notice that’s what the story said. Funny.

Last night
Guys who played themselves on the roster:
Lewis
Rolle
Clayton
Lindley (He had some nice special team plays)
Hunt
Laws (Because he played well but mostly because Hargrove may be the day 1 starting LDE)
McGlynn
Lee
Moss(For PR/KR duty)
Guys who played themselevs off:
Te-O
Dunlap
Jordan
Chad Hall (FINALLY, and i dont care he caught a damn TD. He is worthless and id rather keep an extra TE than WR…if his name is chad hall)
Havali (He sint good enough to be a RB on this squad and he is not a FB, Tony Hunt part Duex)
Ingram
Hughes
Any WR not mentioned on the played himself a spot list.
Im sure there are more so feel free to add / debate
Forgot to add Parker as played himself off
I really think they keep Hargrove and Laws and cut him.
Yep.
DTN’s “high motor” can drive him to the CFL. He’s outta here.
Q: What do a leaky tampon and Sean McDermott's defense have in common?
A: They are equally ineffective in the red zone.
Ed Wade=all the farm system the Phillies will ever need.
To be fair. Te-O did have the all time sack record for washington. The guy was a beast in college when it came to production.
Yeah, but have you seen him at Washington?
He lined up 10 yards outside the tackle and sprinted at the QB. They had him play in a very favorable position that’s not quite up to NFL standards.

Half truth
He also lined up at DT…like I said there were things to like about the guy, beside the high motor, but he really hasnt developed.
I think he’s looked pretty good. I wouldn’t be shocked if he made this team.

Eli Manning has the personality of a baked potato.
I was a vocal supporter of Kafka for backup to start the season, but if VY is healthy I have to admit he now looks ready.
My concern before was his grasp of the offense, but he looked to have it under control last night. Let’s just hope the hamstring injury isn’t anything that keeps him down.
Jackson didn't play at all
So I assume it was McGlynn all night.
Wow.
The way I see it, if McGlynn is any good at center, there is a significant chance the team outright releases Jackson and keeps him instead. One thing we know is that Jackson won’t be looked at as even a possibility at any other position, so if they are hellbent on going with Kelce, as it seems they are, they might deem McGlynn the better player to keep because of his versatility, the fact he has a whole season of starting, and the fact that he doesn’t fit Mudd’s scheme either but is still a hell of a lot closer to fitting his scheme than Jackson is. It seems like fit is more important than player skill right now.

Poor Riley Cooper
He always takes huge hits. I like him a lot though; I think he’ll be a contributor sometime in the future…it just might not be with the Eagles sadly.
Dion Lewis is a blast to watch. Runs with such a purpose…whatever that means.
Good game for Clay Harbor from what I got to see, good to see him have success. Great accuracy from VY as well. Makes me confident in the second and third stringers…its amazing how deep this team is.

Really, ...
Jax, Mac, Avant, Smith … You dont think there is a possibility that Cooper goes?
by thePurpleLion on Sep 2, 2011 9:59 AM EDT up reply actions
agreed,
but you dont think Johnny Lee Higgins or Sinorice Moss have a chance to make it? How many WRs will they keep? Cooper has a limited talent, doesnt return kicks or punts like the other two. Though he is pretty good at tackling on Special Teams.
by thePurpleLion on Sep 2, 2011 10:08 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah he is like a heat seeking missile on returns. I think he’s a fantastic receiver and he brings a bit of height to a pretty short WR corps and great hands to boot. Would love to see him in the slot and almost anything in the red zone.
"You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."
Cooper is just flat out
a better receiver than Moss or Higgins and has a lot more upside than the both of them. We need his height near the redzone too. No way he’s gone this soon.

Just read an article on the eagles and someone wrote a comment saying we should start buckley over schmidt because he has a better skill set lmao

I don't think this would happen
He’s 30, already scheduled to make an avg of 5 mil the next 3 years AND wants a raise?
I just don’t think Andy values expensive LBs that much, considering he’s starting a rookie MLB.
Not to mention we’ve still got to pay DeSean.
