Falcons Dunta Robinson Fined $40,000 for Cheap Shot on Jeremy Maclin
I think this is absurd. He was fined $50,000 (25,000 after the appeal) after his cheap shot on Desean. And now hes fined $10,00 less. I think since he is a repeat offender it should have been much higher and possibly a suspension too.

i posted this somewhere else, but
im sure he wasnt suspended b/c maclin returned to the game and was fine but that is complete bullshit. Fines and suspension should not be predicated on outcomes but rather actions and intentions. Plus he is a repeat offender. I really don’t get this. The one time i was actually glad to see a Goodell fine, he fucks it up…

SUSPENSION
that hit, taken into perspective with last year’s hit should be at least the 40,000 PLUS a suspension
Fly Eagles Fly and watch the cowgirls cry.
Good Job Goodell.
You have such a hard on for punishing guys who broke the rules in college that you can’t even police your own backyard correctly. Asshole.
I wonder if it would have been different had Maclin not come back in the game. Something tells me it would have. Which means, Goodell is policing the result and not the intent. That’s a problem.
Ed Snider is a crotchety old fuck.
That is all.
He much have learned alot from the NHL then.
Plays like this wont go away until they start suspending repeat offenders and this was a perfect time to do just that.

"Goodell is policing the result and not the intent. That’s a problem."
I guess that’s why Ramon Foster wasn’t punished at all for diving into Chaney’s leg after the play, away from the play. No flag was thrown and Chaney’s career didn’t end like it could have. So no harm no foul seems to be the rule.
What a steaming pile of excriment!!
Two consecutive violations against the same team and the fine is less? What are you smoking mr. Goodell? That makes absolutely no sense! The guy was clearly headhunting even after being warned and fined last year for the same thing. WTF!?! It should have been more and at least a one game suspension. If maclin would have been killed would the outcome been different? Absolutely because it was wrong, illegal and the at least the second time he’s done it. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on Roger!

I am 100% sure had Maclin suffered a concussion he would have been suspended. So NFL using doing it wrong, just like the NHL, and fining for outcome and not intent.
by Anders Jensen on Sep 19, 2011 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Idiotic. We’re so concerned about these types of hits giving concussions that we’re going to wait until you actually give someone a serious concussion before really bringing the hammer down instead of doing something to stop the behavior before serious consequences happen. Until this behavior actually comes back and hurts them and the team it’ll never change.
The best part will be when they do finally suspend someone it’ll be for a game while the other guy misses 3-4 weeks. If they want to play this game it should be: you know him out for x amount of games you miss x amount of games plus 1, but it won’t.
by Eric Gaskill on Sep 19, 2011 7:36 PM EDT up reply actions
i like that idea
however long the guy is out after your hit, you are out. that works with short-term injuries.
but if player X gives player Y a career-ending concussion/injury, there is no way of knowing that it wasn’t a cumulative # of hits that lead to the final hit being so devastating.
criminologically speaking, tho, I think the league is sending a very unclear message in fining a serial offender less for a repeat offense than it did for the initial transgression.
This is ridiculous. He’s not going to learn his lesson if you make the punishment less and less severe every time he goes head-hunting.
by groot on Sep 19, 2011 6:16 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Indeed. Loved how he actually lowers his arms further down as if to avoid injuring himself. He can say all he wants, but he was trying to knock Maclin out of the game. The intent was clear and it should have been a suspension.
Food for thought: DeSean was the one on track for a monster game last year (78 yards from scrimmage, 2 TDs) when Dunta went head hunting. This year Maclin is the one set to post a huge state line (already had a pretty good one) and he’s the target.

There coach is a douchbag aswell, he said he thought the hit was legal and they teach em to tackle like that.
Who the hell teaches people to tackle with there helmet only?
by Anders Jensen on Sep 19, 2011 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
He said that?
Then start fining the coaches too. If you’re not going to suspend the player (which you should) then you start fining the guys who should be teaching them the right way to do things. Then double the fine if they open there mouths and say that the hit was legal which just furthers the problem.
by Eric Gaskill on Sep 19, 2011 7:15 PM EDT up reply actions
Falcons coach Mike Smith said after the game that he believed it was a legal hit and “that’s the way we teach it.”
by Anders Jensen on Sep 19, 2011 7:22 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Seriously from here on out the defensive cord. and head coaches each need to get fined every time one of these hits happens. That’ will light a fire under them to teach these player how to tackle properly.

Douchebag is an understatement. I can’t stand that arrogant asshole. And Dunta? You are a punk. Just a punk who can’t handle getting toasted by someone so you seek to hand out injuries. I called for a suspension yesterday, sadly, ol Roger has dropped the ball again.

You know what he's thinking?
He wanted to knock J Mac out of the game?

I really hope we face them in the playoffs and Herramans get a chance to block him on a screen.

That's just what I was about to post.
I hope we get a chance for one of our linemen to block him on a screen pass, or have Avant set a pick for him and knock his fucking head off. I’d gladly take a penalty just to see his ass motionless on the ground at this point.
Yeah, I said it. Classless Philly fan, blah blah blah. When you go looking to intentionally injure people, you’d better be ready to take back whatever you dish out.

When things got scrappy down at the goaline and Maclin tried to pull off a Falcon on top of the pile, Dunta shoved him. I think Peters and Kelce were right there. I would have been fine with an ejection if one of those two had just leveled him.
Someone needs to dig up the clip of that whole sequence. Best part was Andy ‘escorting’ DeSean and JMac toward the sideline while letting the big guys keep scrapping.

I normally give players the benefit of the doubt, but with his comments after both hits and his coach comments I can no longer do that. He is a classless punk there shouldnt be allowed to play football. Him and James Harrison are now the 2 most dirty players in the NFL right now.
by Anders Jensen on Sep 19, 2011 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions
at this point this isnt classless
When someone is out to injure people, they have to be removed from the field. If the commish isnt going to make certain that this isnt going to keep happening, then the rest of the league needs to band together and remove the stain.
I think the fine was lower...
Because Maclin got right back into the game afterwards. I mean, he was out for about 1 or 2 series at most. I still think it should be a harsher punishment, but the fact that he and Maclin were able to finish the game mitigated things a bit.
It should not be factor if you want to cut down on illegal hits like that. If you only punish for outcome and not intent, people will take there chance.
by Anders Jensen on Sep 19, 2011 6:48 PM EDT up reply actions
That shouldn't matter.
The hit itself, intent, repeat offenses are all that should come into play. Couple inches in another direction and Maclin could be done for a long time, so the results of the hit shouldn’t matter. This is why these rule enforcements won’t be taken seriously enough.
Clear eyes, full bologna sandwiches!
Wow.
Epic bullshit. This hit had clear intent so in a vacuum it should have been a higher fine. Add onto that the repeat offender thing and it should be even higher with at least one game suspension. Goodell can’t even be an asshole about this discipline thing properly. Epic bullshit.
Clear eyes, full bologna sandwiches!
I can't say much more than has already been said
this is total bullshit. Has the league released a statement explaining the fine? How could it not be less than last year? The only explanation is that Maclin didn’t get hurt which is just stupid. I really expected a fine and suspension
Cowboys suck.
Sadly, not surprised
Fine should have been double that at least. And I’m beginning to wonder if anyone can do anything that results in a suspension.
Dunta’s going to continue this because it is how he deals with receivers faster and quicker than he is.
Falcons fans seem to be upset with the fine. They think its too much.

It’s the minimum for a second offense. Goodell’s only lesser option would be to declare that a legal hit.

What a Joke.
Goodell talks about how he is all about player safety, and then fines a repeat offender $10,000 less than the first time. In my opinion, Goodell has lost a lot of credibility because of this.
Nnamdi has his continent, Asante has his no fly zone, and Mr. Rodgers has his neighborhood.
Agree with Everyone
But I Just want to play the Giants, Fuck the Falcons. Yes, they won, but in no way did we leave the impression if we see them in the postseason its gonna be the same result. Losing is Losing and I dont condone it; however you must have games like this on “the Road to Victory” This week is going to be a long one… Glad to be an Eagle.
Wait a second...
This isn’t the Goodell love fest that I expected…I came here fully expecting THIS part 2

And INSTEAD, I got what DickMuffin and I have been saying all along. That Goodell is a fucking piece of shit of a human being.

Went over to Falcoholic, can't say I was surprised by what I found.
Over course, there were plenty of people being total idiots and saying it was a legal hit (yeah, and 2 + 2 is 5, stfu). But the worst thing I saw was this:
yes, I am worried about player safety….
but, as long as he doesn’t get suspended I am cool with him putting big hits on receivers
I’m sure Dunta feels the same way: if you aren’t going to suspend me, I’ll just keep doing it. If the punishment doesn’t amount to anything that hurts the team as well as the player, it’s not going to stop them. Until the NFL mans up and suspends people for trying to injure others, it’s not going to stop.
I'll give you a cookie if you know what my pic is from.
I don't know what I hate more,
The fact that he was only fined $40,000 or the the fact that there are tards defending his ass…

he was gonna spend $40000 at the club tonight
