This week, John and I recap the Eagles-Rams game, make predictions for the matchup against the Falcons and tell you which Eagles players to start and sit in your fantasy leagues.

Thought this was a great episode. Nice work BobQ.
Also thought your prediction of 28-20 was much more reasonable than the 35-10 prediction. Let’s not forget that Matt Ryan’s home record is absurd beyond understanding. I would not underestimate this Falcons team.

Maybe not that out of hand
But the Birds will control this game. Not underestimating this team, but I also don’t buy the hype for 1 second.

This is probably the third-hardest game on our schedule, behind @Dallas and New England (our schedule is comically easy this season)
And I still see us winning by about three touchdowns.
This gon’ be a fun year.
I thought this was awesome, and I can’t wait to see more. Good work guys.
I’m not as optimistic about this game as John though. I know the Falcons got beat up last week, but they still have some good players. I’m confident we can beat them, but I don’t think it’ll be easy at all (like it ended up being last year).

When Matt Ryan starts + finishes game for Falcons in Georgia Dome:
2008: 7-1 (Loss came in a 20-24 game against Broncos)
2009: 5-0
2010: 7-1 (Loss came in 14-17 game against Saints)
2010 Postseason: 0-1 (Loss came in a 21-48 game against eventual SB champs GB Packers)
Total Falcons record at home with Matt Ryan as starter: 19-3

How about when both of their starting DTs are injured?
Got any stats for that?
Oh, you want me to answer my own question? Okay- I think it’ll be as easy as last year, if not easier… as long as we can hold Michael Turner/Jason Snelling to under 100 yards rushing.

I think even if they get into the 150 yard range we’ll be fine. They’ll eventually have some 3rd and medium-longs and that’s when we’ll excel. Giving up rushing yards doesn’t bother me as long as there are no huge plays and they’re not totally controlling time of possession. If they’re at 100 yards or less then I agree that it’ll be a blowout.
Ha, no I don’t, but it sounds like Corey Peters has a chance to suit up.

Well looking back on it
Maybe not 35-10, but I really think it’s going to be a lopsided affair as far as who is in control of the game. I still feel that the run-d will struggle but every other aspect of the game will pretty much dominated by green jerseys. I give a lot of credit to that Falcons O-Line, they have done a great job for the past few years protecting their QB and Justin Blalock kills dudes in the run game. I might be eating a lot of crow on Monday morning but I just feel like we will be able to get to Ryan enough where he will make some mistakes. Lots of bending, but not breaking. 31-20 feels better to me. Vick will win your fantasy league this week, book it.

uh… lol!
1) Good point on the DeSean quick slant; He’s money when it comes to the open field… Set him up for success. Vick knows there’s possible pressure coming, and if not, DeSean should still hit the open area before a LB or DB can get to him. I’m pretty sure Vick when right into instinct mode, though, when the pressure came… He clouded over or some shit haha.
2) I personally think that this is the year that Michael Turner slows down due to injury / heavy work load from the past taking a toll on his body. It’s not often a player can carry the ball for 300+ carries a year like he has 2 of the past 3 years (injured last year!, played only 11 games) and have consistent success year in and year out. Perhaps his saving grace is the addition of Julio Jones, another weapon to the Passing Game and the fact that he wasn’t a starter in San Diego, but my instinct is telling me that he slows. Maybe we can help that happen :)

I’ll admit, it does sound a little fishy, but I have had some very lucky breaks over the years.
didnt win last year in the vet league lol
im so sad we couldnt get it off and running this year …. def will not let that happen next year

been in a league with pretty much the same guys for 9 years
We’ve had 2 commissioners in that span (we change every 5 years) and the commissioner has never won. Our first commish has one twice since the change. its hard to be a proper commish and win the league, so no need to fret

I don’t think he slows down so much due to workload. I think the loss of Dahl might effect that running game more than people think (and hell pass protecting too, that dude was a beast). And I can’t remember off hand how many games Turner has missed in his career but I know it’s not many. Turner is a great running back and I think we will have some trouble with him, but i hope your instinct is right! That would make this game a whole lot easier to win.

I’m going to work on loosening up next week. I figure the more episodes I do, the more relaxed I’ll seem on camera. I’m actually used to being a behind-the-scenes guy, so this is a new experience for me. I’m loving it, though.

Are there any plans to do a podcast version as well?
I make an hour and a half drive to school 4 days a week and an hour drive work 2 more, podcasts keep me sane. A BGN podcast would be a serious improvement to my week!

When I realized I was 24, stuck waiting tables, and absolutely miserable with my life I knew I had to step up. I don’t mind the drive to school that much after feeling trapped in my dead-end job for a few years. It’s liberating and fulfilling to do something for myself too make my life better, not just something I have to do to be able to make rent. The drive to said job does suck though and I think I’m going to try to work on campus or something instead.

As of right now, we’re keeping it just to TV, but I definitely like the podcast idea. Once this project gets more off the ground, we’ll see what we can come up with.

Great job, guys. I really enjoyed this
1). I love the video analysis. Seriously, that was more insightful than anything Brian Billick said on the Fox broadcast on Sunday. Jimmy had a similar post at Blogging the bEast with a blog post breaking down a video, and again, more insightful than anything Billick had to offer on the Fox broadcast. If you could find away to break down multiple plays in future episodes, that would be fantastic.
2). You guys have real good voices suited for television.
3). Lastly, some constructive criticism. I mentioned the video breakdowns above, and while I love the analysis, the video itself could be of better quality. Unfortunately I have no alternatives to suggest, but if you could find a better video feed or just find a way to make the video less choppy when you put the episode together, that would really be great.
Again, great episode guys. I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work! :)

We are gonna try getting some better footage in there. Its just hard to find good video capture software or a spot to download the entire game to break it down. I would love to break down mutliple plays :) We will work on all of these things as we move forward

You should require submitters to also provide a headshot so you can put their screen name underneath it, as well as date they joined, # of posts, comments, etc.

I think the content has to be more exciting
When we log on BGN we basically get everyone’s reaction and analysis to the game. I peresonally dont want to watch regurgatated analysis or stats that i’ve read in the papers and here…
Maybe something like video breakdowns, or trivia (for prizes)… Something that we don’t see here 1000x
I also agree BOb you should definitely let it go a little bit. You look like you’re trying to read obituaries. Let your pretty self shine!!!
