The Classy McNabb At it Again

Crying AGAIN?

{quote]"I was there for 11 years, and the biggest thing we brought in was T.O. [Terrell Owens]," said McNabb. "Now they’re getting the so-called 'Dream Team.' It’s amazing, but I look back on my career and what they’re doing now ... that’s great; that’s excellent. But you’re seeing another side. You’re seeing Andy (coach Andy Reid) taking that chance. It’s not just taking that chance on one guy. They’re taking a chance on a bunch of guys. And they’re spending money. That’s amazing. Ever since the lockout [ended], teams have to spend money."[/quote]

"With T.O.," he said, "after the first two or three weeks of training camp we felt like we had something. But you never say, 'Aw, we’re going to win the Super Bowl. Fans say that. Radio says that. But now they expect them to win.

"Now they bring in a Cullen Jenkins, and we all know he’s a dominant force. They bring in a Nnamdi Asomugha. You have Rodgers-Cromartie, who is the one they don’t mention the most because they have Asante Samuel, too. The problem is: What do you do with Asante Samuel?

"Then, you've got to worry about DeSean (Jackson). When he comes back are you going to give DeSean the ball or throw it to (Jeremy) Maclin? Remember, you have to give LeSean McCoy the ball, too. And then at the end you still have to pay Mike Vick. They have more problems than people are looking at."

I guess Brian Westbrook, a good o line, a good defense and T.O. wasn't enough for McNabb. In fact in 5 NFC CG that the Eagles helped orchestrate in his 11 year career there.

McNabb isn't class, he's a whiner, and it's the reason multiple black people have came out and flat our criticized him calling him white lol (which im assuming is the ultimate diss for brothers). He has no heart and will always play the victim and the blame game.

When Mike Vick hoists the Lombardi we can finally say VICK was this franchise's best Quarterback

I just listened to the Kevin Kolb interview and it was so beautiful. Say what u want bout his skills if you aint on team kolb whatever, but he said the best things. He said he supported Philly wished them well, was thankful for andy drafting him and giving him an opportunity and banner for taking care of his family, etc… So humble for going thru what he went thru and u havee this fuckign queen bitch his ass off after we assemebled 5 nfc cgs….asshole

I’ve never been a McNabb fan, never will. He can’t let go of the Eagles because he knows that they gave him his best chance to win, and it’s killing him now that he’s realizing he’s just an average QB when he’s on a normal team.

He's slick, he's quick, he's Michael Vick.

T.O. never said the team didn't surround him with talent.

He said they have never been this aggressive in the offseason.

The question posed to him was about free agency, trades, etc. That O-line was mostly built through the draft. Westbrook was a draft pick. Desean was a draft pick. Maclin was a draft pick. A lot of the defense was comprised of draft picks. Owens was the biggest offseason move the Eagles made while McNabb was around. There was never an offseason comparable to this one while he was the QB. Do you disagree?

I never argued McNabb never had talent. I agree that he did and that that talent played a very large part in getting us to 5 NFC CG’s. But the Eagles were never this aggressive in the offseason before. Not even close.

JoeD AKA The Voice Of Reason

by Joe_D on Aug 3, 2011 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions

The Eagles tried to get McNabb talent.....WTF

Most everyone you named there are defensive guys. Sure they will help out a team overall, but what actual help did McNabb get on his side of the ball? Yes they got TO and Westbrook. Westbrook was drafted in the 3rd I believe, but nobody can say that he would be as good as he actually was. But for the majority of McNabb’s career here he was throwing to Thrash, Pinkston, Mitchell, Lewis (Greg and Chad)…..those aren’t top talent guys.

Yes McNabb had a year or two with Jackson, Maclin, etc. But one year doesn’t mean nothing when those guys are young and still learning the system.

You call him a cry baby. To me it’s you that is the cry baby with everyone pointing out how you are wrong. See below:

“This tired ass post again?” by homestar2281 (which was REC by the way) and youre response:

“Shut up” by Joe_D Like I whiny ass baby.

Get over it man, McNabb wasn’t perfect but he is by for the best QB this franchise has ever had (would have been much better with more/better weapons). You may not like him, and that is fine. But you sound like a little bitch when you post this stuff once every 4 weeks.

by slandog on Aug 4, 2011 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions

McNabb was asked about the aggressiveness of the Eagles this offseason.

He responded fairly accurately. The Eagles have never been this aggressive in the offseason. He never said the Eagles didn’t bring in talent, but a lot of the talent brought in was through the draft. The draft is irrelevant in relation to the question asked of him. T.O. was, until this offseason, the biggest move the Eagles made in the offseason. Samuel was big, Peters was big. But bringing in T.O. was huge at the time and this offseason eclipsed that by a mile. Do you disagree with that? You are going on and on about the Eagles giving McNabb talent, but he didn’t say anything about talent being brought in. He was talking about free agency and trades.

by NOLACuse on Aug 4, 2011 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

I'd have to hear the interview myself

McNabb’s been making A TON of jokes in his interviews lately. Did he really say all of that seriously or was he making a joke? Like he recently said his contract was 90 million because he wanted the Vikings to have room to sign more players (poking fun at manning’s statement).

by cin7 on Aug 3, 2011 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

The 2004 Eagles needed less FA help than the 2010 Eagles, IMO.

Prior to bringing in TO, the Eagles had Sheldon and Lito in their primes at CB, and an established star in Westbrook, and more stability on the offensive line. Adding TO and Kearse filled in the only two glaring weaknesses on that team.

And I think his memory is a bit selective, too. People considered that team loaded. Anything short of an NFC Championship by that team would have been a huge, colossal failure.

All that said, I think what McNabb said is pretty innocuous.

Doesn’t he kind of have a point, too? You could argue, and I did, that the Eagles were built to “win now” at several points in McNabb’s tenure, but there’s only 1 season (’04) that comes anywhere close to this one in terms of being “all in”.

He was just answering a question, not making an unprovoked whine about the Eagles, but I can see he would be a little bitter. Either McNabb or Kolb would be justified in questioning why they never had an offseason like this when they were the QBs.

by BrianS on Aug 3, 2011 4:55 PM EDT reply actions

Who cares if he has a point?

Most everything anybody says has some truth in it, somewhere.

I'm fine with McNabb saying this

When he was throwing to Pinkston and Thrash I always thought he needed more offensive weapons besides Westy. the one big receiving threat they gave him, TO, did his best to suck the Eagles into the ground with his drama. he had a good offensive line and defense but at the end of the day, when andy calls 70% passing plays we needed receivers who were actually talented enough to play in the NFL.

If TO hadn’t royally screwed up the first time we went all in under Reid we wouldn’t be having this discussion

He is still the best QB in Eagles history and he will most likely be accepted by Philadelphians, much like Jaws is now, once time has been able to heal all the wounds.

I would not be surprised to see him sign a one day deal with the Eagles so that he can retire in midnight green when the time comes.

This is a joke

say wat you want but I would be jealous too… anybody would be you would have to be ignorant to believe that Todd Pinkston, James Thrash, Na Brown, Dameane Douglas, Gari Scott, Torrance Small, Charles Johnson, Freddie Mitchell, Hank Basket…t, Greg Lewis were a good supporting cast that even people like Peyton Manning could have made into a championship caliber team… Peyton had Marvin Williams, Brandon Stokely, Reggie Wayne, Jerome Pathon, all much better to begin with than any on the eagles those years

lets put this into a different perspective…

how many of you actually played Madden with the Eagle receivers in franchise mode and didn’t end up signing someone in FA… you are all probably the ones who CRIED for the eagles to sign a big name receiver… and you all probably say if we had one for the three NFC champ games in a row we would have a couple SB’s by now and curse Andy for it… but yet McNabb says he is jealous and you crucify him… bunch of hypocrites for the “most loyal and intelligent fans in the NFL”… joke

Dear McNabb...

Let me start this out by saying Andy always gave you guys to protect you, you never had a shaky OL in front of you with the exception of one game Justice started against the Giants… You were always given time and protected, you always had weapons around you.. The Eagles brought in guys like Runyan, Kearse, TO, etc to get you into the win column.

Now onto your griping about the Eagles. We’re not taking chances on guys that are crazy, with the exception of Nnamdi and DRC we can get out of ANY of the new contracts with 0 hit after the first year. That’s protecting your ass if you ask me, the Eagles are being insanely intelligent about their pick ups.

What do we do with Asante you ask? Well we put him out there with Nnamdi and watch him make plays and be a complete badass, I’m sure if/when we play you he’ll show you what we do with him. We can make 3 CB’s work, all 3 want to make it work, and unlike you they seem to listen to their coaches about how to make it work.

As far as how we’re going to get Djax, Maclin and Lesean the ball.. Lesean sure seemed plenty happy with his 285 touches last season. As far as getting Maclin and Desean the ball I’d tell them both whoever is open is getting the ball, thats how it works at wide receiver and in a pass happy offense there’s plenty of balls to go around to the two of them.

And as to your worries on how we’re going to pay Vick and Desean.. Don’t worry about it, the FO alway found a way to get guys paid who deserved it.

I don't read anything in here

seeing McNabb bashing the Eagles or his time there. I don’t feel like reading it again but it looks like you’re really clutching at straws here

Well, I kinda know where McNabb is coming from. He never really had any real targets until TO came in there. I do not understand the hate for Mcnabb, the guy was elite the time he was here. All the elites have very good to great offensive lines, and most of them had better WRs the whole time. I also think the way they went about ending the McNabb era was kinda classless. He deserved better. That’s over now.

I also want to add, Joe D - you said something about the brothers calling McNabb white? I heard some of that stupid stuff, and it’s a bunch of crap. Far as Im concern, McNabb was and is a classact, and who cares what a couple of knuckleheads have to say about McNabb. I’m proud to say the guy was a classact on and off the field an I respect that.

I wish T.O. handled himself better, that wasn’t McNabb’s fault. I also wish Andy Reid coul have sat down with TO and got it to work. I do not know if he tried or not, but it’s not McNabb’s fault.

you can argue mcnabb was elite at one time much more you can say he was a class act

he’s NOT a class act. He has been a whiner his entire career and he does it in the most subtle fashion which i even have less respect for than the guys who actually com e out n blatantly do it

Westbrook was terrible, so was runyabm , vincent, trotter, douglas, tra thomas was a scrub too,, come tot hin of it andy never gave donovan a line. …. who was that #20 again? dawk something?

West accoiunted for 40% of our offense, JEEZE what was donovan supposed to do? chad lewis? BUM….those JJ defenses? swiss cheese

i dont even know how jeff garcia went 7-2 as a started @ 36… probably magic..hell even aj feeley went 4-1 one year, that was probably magic too because ONLY Donovan was a great talent on our team

your right about the receiver of course

as each time a receiver seemed to catch on (Pinkston and 798 yds in 2002, brown 2006 with his 816 yards) they would inevitably fizzle. Look I disagree with Joe’s sentiment of McNabb being unclassy. I loved McNabb and think he was the right choice, but if you are gonna hit him with the statement like you did above, at least double check it before you post it. To the 3 fools who rec’d it green, you should of checked too.

But the dude needs to shut up about Philly now.

Why do our sports talk DJ’s still feel the need to drag him through the mud, as well as the fans who call in. It’s been 2 years on our part as well, think we could pay him no mind by now?

.

Seriously? Get over it. Yeah so what he complained. I didn’t know that Andy used defensive players as receivers. I guessed I missed the announcement that Trotter was nominated as a Pro Bowl WR. It was him and Westbrook every sunday for almost a decade, and Westbrook wasn’t always healthy. Name me one Superbowl team that had its leading receiver as its running-back. And just because we had talented offensive linemen doesn’t mean we had an amazing offensive line. It was good, heck it was great. But even with +5 seconds in the pocket, who you going to throw to when your receiver’s nickname is alligator arms? Defenses may win championships, but offenses get you to the big game. You need both to be successful. Ask some of the recent winners like the Saints and Packers. We had one of the best offenses last year, but our defense was horrible. What Trent Cole? Why can’t you step up? We got you one of the most explosive offenses in the leauge, why can’t you beat that double team? The point is there was never both when McNabb was there, and it became too late for him when Reid built this amazing offense. He’s no longer here! That’s what you wanted! Let it go…
