The Linc - Mac Is Back

Mac is back | Philabuster | 08/17/2011
There is a percentage of a chance that Jeremy Maclin will not be at his best this season, at least not right away. There is another percentage of a chance – 100 percent, actually – that it doesn’t matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.

After 3 lost seasons, Eagles' Ingram finally healthy
After three years of knee problems, Eagles tight end Cornelius Ingram is finally healthy, and has a shot to make the 53-man roster. By Reuben Frank

That is hilarious because the 2nd string Eagles really do compare favorably. Great article, and I can’t wait to get over to HH and check out the vitriol spewed forth when they get a hold of it. Haha…

I was always a Cornelius Ingram fan,

but after all the injuries, i dont know if he can perform like he used to. I think he had a real shot at being Celek’s backup, but with the health problems he has had, I dont know if he is worth the roster spot.

i think both harbor and lee have shown more than ingram

Lee?

Whats has Lee shown you for the Eagles?

by Two Nickels on Aug 18, 2011 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions

someone made a coment on the article, that Andy and company didnt keep him on for 2 seasons just to cut him did they?

Im not set on Harbor. But that could just be because we need better right side blocking, so we arent sending the TE out on as many routes.

i will guarantee this: if he doesnt make our roster he will not sit on a practice squad. Someone will take him and use him.

by thePurpleLion on Aug 18, 2011 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions

Ingram? You do realize no one picked him up last year when he was supposedly healthy, right? I don’t think anyone even gave him a physical.

I don’t know if he’ll be on the practice squad or not, but frankly, the next most likely option after that is being on his couch. I don’t think he catches on with another team, nor do I think he’ll be on the Eagles 53-man for the majority of the year.

by Rujasu on Aug 18, 2011 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Eh - he was 'supposedly' healthy, but not actually healthy

Now he’s actually healthy. I don’t think he’ll make the team either, but I’d like him to. Stranger things have happened regardless.

did you see harbour fall on his face 3x during the game?

CI fan also

and I can tell you from seeing him in camp… HE IS BACK… I say stash him on the practice squad if anything but I will be playing really close attention to him today at the Steelers game. If he gets some looks over the next couple of weeks Lee might be in trouble to make the team.

by Two Nickels on Aug 18, 2011 9:35 AM EDT up reply actions

I’d love to stick him there, but I don’t think people will fall for it this year

Marty needs to expand his vocabulary

"Outstanding, young, talented man," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said. "He’s been through really two major injuries [and] he just hasn’t been on the field much with our offensive structure in the last couple of years. He’s having an outstanding camp. He really flashes brilliance. So now he’s got to play at that high level on a consistent basis."

lol

I do hope Ingram well. He could be a monster if he is fully healthy.

ingram

I really want us to keep him celek and harbor. If ingram is indeed “back” he will be huge for this offense. Also celek out on some bulk this off-season, per an article I read somewhere. I think Brent is more than adequate as our blocking te. If ut comes down to lee vs ingram I would hope we kept ingram.

by VRFC8 on Aug 18, 2011 9:47 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

God I hope Ingram is truly 100% and makes this team

The only reason he fell in the draft was because of his knee….his potential ceiling is strait up scary

i honestly dont think he will last. But i am still willing to take the chance on him.

by thePurpleLion on Aug 18, 2011 9:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Me either

I’ve heard the same “hype” about ingram for 3 years. I know he was hurt, but I’d rather take the safe bet with Lee. If we put Ingram on the PS then someone will pick him up pretty quickly. So, its either Lee or Ingram. I’ll take a vet like Lee just to make sure our depth is solidified and quality

I'm glad to hear Maclin does not have cancer.

I’ve delt with loved ones having it and it is scary. Not for sissy’s either.

I will be at the season opener NYG @ WAS with a few friends. If you are going and feel like looking up a fellow BBVer and having some fun, let me know.

by tommy d. on Aug 18, 2011 9:54 AM EDT reply actions

I doubt they'll keep three TEs

They have to go heavy at WR, CB and DE, and maybe DT depending on Patterson’s health and the battle between Hargrove, Thornton and Laws. We know Ingram is the superior receiver; he could steal Harbor’s job if he’s learned to block, or they get a reliable RT, but I’ll be shocked if he does.

Back spasms

He might be the answer, but we’ve seen what can happen with OL who have bad backs.

i hope you arent referring to prissy boy, Shawn Andrews?

He is just a crybaby wannabe rapper who thinks he is God’s gift to the world. he thinks he is too good for being in the trenches and doesnt see his REAL meal ticket in front of him.

We do need depth at the position though.

you have a better description?

talented, yes. But he cant pull his head out of his ass long enough to play a season through.

In regards to the TE situation

Why keep a 9-year vet in Donald Lee when we already have Celek who’s been in the league for 4 years and a starter for 2? He’s about as much of a veteran as we need. I’d much rather keep a guy like CI who has a tremendous upside and could potentially be a serious threat in this already potent offense.

Maybe I’m missing something here, but unless Lee has been playing out of his mind and NO ONE has heard about it, I don’t think it’s an incredibly difficult choice

by PF_Flyers22 on Aug 18, 2011 10:56 AM EDT reply actions

Or, you know, keep Clay Harbor, since Harbor has actually done something at the NFL level and Ingram has not

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

yeah i hear ya…and I like Harbor, don’t really want to see him go.

by PF_Flyers22 on Aug 18, 2011 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Lee is the best blocker among the Eagles TEs. That could be the reasoning for keeping him over Ingram, if that’s the route they choose.

ok, so, does Harbor possess something we dont already have in Ingram? health. ok.
Do we need a PLAYMAKER at #2 or #3 TE? if not, keep your best blockers.
If they plan on running multiple TE formations (which, with the amount of talent at WR, i dont see happening), then keep a playmaker for those situations. So, since I dont see the Eagles utilizing a dual TE scheme often, I gotta think Ingram is out.
If he stays healthy, he will eventually start somewhere, but I dont see him beating Celek out for the starting job.

by thePurpleLion on Aug 18, 2011 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

This is exactly my train of thought. They need a blocking TE, they already have more weapons than they can use offensively. This is why Ingram probably doesn tmake it, and Lee would be an asset…

Harbor is a lock to make the team. Team loves him, and he can be a guy that makes plays. I think the 2 most likely scenarios are:

- Celek, Harbor, Lee, Ingram (PS)
- Celek, Harbor, Ingram (PS), Lee cut.

I can’t really envision a scenario in which Ingram makes the 53 man roster.

by JimmyK on Aug 18, 2011 11:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Appreciate all the insight

I suppose keeping a strong blocking tight end is never a bad thing and I like the argument about having so many weapons at WR.

That being said, didn’t Celek do a pretty good job of that last year? As was already said, we didn’t run a lot of 2 TE sets so there’s not really the "Lee could block while Celek can run routes (which he’s shown to be very good at). Would the team keep a guy strictly to block?

by PF_Flyers22 on Aug 18, 2011 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Tenuous situation at RT. Definitely can’t hurt to have a TE that block on the roster. Plus, while Lee didn’t do much as a receiver last year, his numbers in previous years show that he’s at least serviceable in that regard.

That’s a fact. It’s also why I think he makes the team. Protecting Vick is priority #1.

Noonan signing

I don’t get it…if they are short at RT (like REALLY SHORT)….why re-sign a player at a position that has A LOT of depth …. even for “camp body” reasons doesnt even make sense when you already have Hargrove, Landri and Thornton fighting for their spot..
